I'm a Shulk main, and I'll tell you that I almost never use Vision either. Counters may be good if you get to execute them, but professional players don't rely too much on them due to their stupid long cooldown time if the opponent doesn't activate it. If you don't get the Vision/Counter, you'll get your ass really fucking punished, that's why people like me and Kome prefer to only use Vision in some situations, just when it's obvious that the Vision will work, because we don't really want to say goodbye to our stock at 50%

Shield minado always feels like it puts you behind because of the speed loss, like sure it saves you from a few hits but you get hit more with it on.
