    I rarely comment on CZcams videos, but man oh man. This is such a great video, and does a great job explaining and showing how to wire in a switched fuse block. I just finished wiring my own fuse block, and I couldn't have done it without watching this video a handful of times. Thanks so much for putting in the effort to make such a high quality "How to" video.

    I think I love you for this. Working on rewiring a lot of my Ranger for an HO Alternator, offroad lights, winch, inverter, stereo amps, a big new relay/fuse box on an ignition circuit, HID upgrades, etc....as well as a simple Big 3 upgrade. Simple, straightforward, well presented. THANK YOU!! I WILL be using breakers over fuses, but my wiring I think will end up similarly sans using fancy car stereo-style battery terminals with multiple large gauge set screw ports. A bus block and a grounding strap is so simple and so amazing...no idea why I didn't think of it.
    Generally speaking...you just made my life easier. Couldn't ask for more.

Upgraded to a 110 amp single wire on the 67 Mustang and need to get the old glass fuse block converted for add on's also. Elect fans, fog lights, elect fuel pump, and who knows what else I will add later. I did not buy a 100a relay though, have the Ford solenoid, can I use that or use a separate relay. So I know this video is 4 years old, maybe you've updated one since then, but would you wire a car this way now? I ask because everything I've learned about how to wire a car (maybe I learned a bunch of wrong stuff lol) is that you don't want to run 0-1 gauge massive cables with power from the trunk (where my battery is) to the front of the car, or under the dash. You have a massive cable going from battery to starter for cranking amps, a ford style solenoid so that massive cable only carries power when cranking (for safety or an accident), it's dead otherwise, and you get all your accessory power from the alternator (and a power distribution block maybe on the core support or firewall that connects to the alternator with 8-10 gauge wire). Use relays where it makes sense, for electric fans, headlights, etc. and get power to those relays from that alternator wire. NOT from a massive cable connected to the battery directly. Lot's of ways to wire a car obviously, I'm curious if you think this is the best and safest way.

    • @klowny1969
      @klowny1969  Před 4 lety +2

      We needed a fuse block in this car due to alot of electrical add ons..this is a safe way of doing it because you do have a megafuse in place in case the wire gets grounded..also if you have just a power distribution block, you still need fuses to those individual wires. For the battery cable, that's a different story..if its only needed when cranking then yes you can have it dead on other times. Always size the cable to the fuse block amperage and what you are planning on drawing amperage wise and you sill be fine. Dont forget to subscribe

    Klowny. After watching a dozen videos, why do I keep coming back to yours? I will tell you why. No offense, but you are not a clown. You know what you are talking about. Excellent videos and easy to understand. I do not know if you are aware, but Blue Sea makes a ST Blade Split Bus Fuse Block with 2 isolated circuits, one for constant power and one for switched power part number 5032. I purchased mine from Amazon. I do have one question though. If all of my switched circuits coming from my switched Blue Sea Block section total less than 100 amps and I am going through a 120 amp relay should I still fuse the switched wire coming from the factory Chevy fuse panel to the number 86 pin on the relay? If so, what size fuse would you recommend?

    @larrygk1257 Před 7 lety

    Exc video. Nice job. Sort of unclear at about 17:00 mark. If you already wired up a fuse box that is switchable via the relay, then why didn't you just connect that old wire that came from the old fuse box to a connection on the new fuse box? Also what gauge did you use for all the red batt wires that went to megafuse, j-box, relay, and the fuse boxes?

    • @klowny1969
      @klowny1969  Před 7 lety

    • @larrygk1257
      @larrygk1257 Před 7 lety

      Thanks. If I may, one more question. I built a similar setup that you show on this great video. Have not installed the relay yet. An experienced electrician friend of mine mentioned that he has done them without the relay. That is, he simply uses the ignition switch to power up the switched fuse block and that "it should handle that". The amps at my switched fuse block are about 55 if you add up all the devices connected to it. If that is feasible, would you not need a hefty (e.g. 4 gauge) cable from the ignition switch to the + at the fuse block? And typically you do not connect a thick wire like that to an ignition switch! Comments? Also what amperage relay did you use in the video? thanks.

    • @klowny1969
      @klowny1969  Před 7 lety +1
