I was amazed to see a beautiful Fueller with "Ash Marshall" on the body. Ash was a pioneering drag racer from the mid 60's, when the sport was just beginning in Australia. Glad to see he still has a car with his name on it. Cheers from Australia.
That was freaking awesome. The intro & outro were just fabulous. I am at a lost for words, for 22 minutes it seems that I forgot about all my current problems and was taken back to a golden age of drag racing. Thanks, I needed that.
I lived at SoCal drag strips from '63 until I was drafted in '69. My favorite car and driver was the Yeakel Plymouth Special AA/FD which was campaigned out of Downey, California. Lou Baney ran the show, Tom "Mongoose" McEwen was in the seat and John Garrison turned the wrench. Most don't know it but The Goose was the driver who went to Simpson in '64 and asked him if he could sew filters into his protective mask and from that request you have the masks being worn here at the Cacklefest.
Absolutely SUPERB..............oh the memories this brings back! I was extremely lucky to have been born early enough to have actually been at the tracks during these times! They were the best of times. Beautiful cars and unique crews brought about unforgettable summer nights I'll fondly remember forever! Thanks for the memories!
Yeah - so was I and those days were simpler but truly amazing to attend. When I was a young teen - the boys next door were hot rod car crazy. There were always several young men over there tinkering and building 1950s era street rods and customs in the back yard. Many old 1920s and 1930s Ford coupes and some 2 door sedans were ripped apart and a Mercury or Lincoln V8s put into them. My father was a gear head too - and he was 1953 -1963 Studebaker coupe man, and he always customized our family cars. It was a time in history that will never be repeated. I sorta miss it. Boys back then were real males and not the simps like we have today.
As much as the content of this video is fantastic, the opening and closing is absolutely perfect. I could watch and listen to that music with it over and over and over again. So reflective of the era itself. Thanks to all who made this possible and thanks to all who took part and RIP to all those no longer with us. We will always miss you but smile when we think of you.
It's absolutely amazing some of the memories from these old and old-styled diggers/altereds... I've been around drag strips since the mid-60s and even recognized a few cars that are originals... Notes : Most of the original cars seen here are running methanol. Don't blame them a bit ! A majority of them were running VP 50/50 nitro/methanol mix. A few were running 75/25 nitro/methanol mix. Some of these cars have been upgraded with newer parts that look different from 60s/70s...(different injector hats, newer/wider tires, updated heads, etc...) The handful of F/A (Altereds) really caught my eye, because the fiberglass bodies were not widely in use way back when. I am currently building a 60s-styled altered to run in Exhibition class at local strip, using a 392 cast iron Hemi with a GMC 6-71 bower with Crower "stack" injectors in a stretched VW body. I plan on using VP 50/50 fuel...
when i was 10yrs old back in 1968 i went to my first drag race then I WAS HOOKED!.i would go out and buy every drag racing mag out there. superstock ,hot rod car craft drag racing mag. and stick every pic on my wall and put together drag racing models of alot of the guys you see here in this video and at 54 today im still loving it ( my wife thinks im crazy ) and im blessed to still have my race car
I watched Tommy Ivo and many of these cars when I was a kid! This is one of the most enjoyable video's that I have had the pleasure of watching. Thank you!
9:30 Seeing the Beebe Mulligan car breaks my heart. I became good friends with Dave Beebe in the 1990's in Porterville, California. He and his wife Janet owned a small used car lot and U-Haul outlet, I bought a couple of cars from him between 1993 and 2001. Dave was a great guy, he loved to sit and talk for hours about racing.
Reminds me of the days when they pushed the dragsters down the 1/4 mi & then pushed them back to the bleach box area in the startup process; it added to the buildup of excitement
Kids, THAT is what drag racing was about in the Golden Age! No clouds of vapor, but flames instead! Crisp sounding. Not much more to them than an engine, rear axle and big rear tires. Built, not with huge sponsor money, but with a shoestring budget, grit, and a burning desire to go fast. Those were the days!
seeing TV Tom in and out of his car with the audience and the mutual love and being totally "in the moment" with the fans; Gold.. just Gold!!! had the biggest lump in my throat by the end.... awesome!
I'll make you fell worse...lol. I grew up in So Cal in the 60s I raced a '34 3 window A/FA at 7 different tracks within 2 hours of my house...until the draft caught up with me.
WOW! Thank you for posting this. I wish I could have seen the drags when they looked like this. That shot of Tommy at the end... cool... T.V. Tommy! Cool! :D
Where do I start? Beautifully done, love the choice of opening and closing music!!! I grew up in Long Beach Ca, during the heyday of Top Fuel (1963-1970) and had the chance to see most of the original versions of these cars. What a kick to see their restored editions, and hear their beautiful nitro infused music. One question, what did you use to film this, and how did you get the truest sound recording of fuel cars I've ever heard...the BEST I've ever heard! Thanks for your efforts and your devotion to the sport.
I remember at Sacramento speedway they had the classic top fuel dragsters like those and they roll them down like a parade it was the coolest thing I have ever seen
Other than the clothing people are wearing - this is just like a drag racing event in the 1960s. The dragsters are gorgeous and the classic cars and trucks are a nice touch.
The video [including intro & closing music] was great. Just for old times' sake, would like to see a video of some old style dragster races w/ the push cars & turn arounds prior to ea race; nothing but positive memories of those days!
Top Fuel Rules!! This is cool as can be using vintage pushers and the works with some old slingshots that are obviously only a foot stomp away from "running". As they say, Gasoline is for Washing Parts, Alcohol's for Drinking and Nitro's for Hauling Ass but I've often wondered if it required more balls than skill to stand on one of these for much more than a couple seconds or a couple hundred feet (whichever comes first)!?
Ah! Here @ 8:22 you have the Bishop & Buehl fuel altered (AA/FA) running the big block Chevy. Back in '68 the altereds were really big in SoCal where I lived. My favorite Chevy powered AA/FA was Mondello-Matsubara with Sush Matsubara in the seat. I remember a fantastic race at Irwindale Raceway between the M&M car and Wild Willy Borsch who partnered with Al Marcellus to own & drive the Winged Express. Sush got a monster hole shot but Willy caught the Chevy in the lights for the win.
Nothing like the old school dragsters !!! Absolute works of art !!!
What a great song to put to the Beauty and the slow motion of these great cars
I was amazed to see a beautiful Fueller with "Ash Marshall" on the body. Ash was a pioneering drag racer from the mid 60's, when the sport was just beginning in Australia. Glad to see he still has a car with his name on it. Cheers from Australia.
Love it might be the best sound
Thanks for making me young again.I'd also like to dedicate this to all the Prius owners out there.
You got jokes
That was freaking awesome. The intro & outro were just fabulous. I am at a lost for words, for 22 minutes it seems that I forgot about all my current problems and was taken back to a golden age of drag racing. Thanks, I needed that.
Couldn't agree more!!!
Thanks for doing this. Us old guys heed a reminder once in a while of how much fun it was in the 50's and 60's.
Incredible display of beautiful nitro dragsters!!!!! I love the cars, and love the sound!!!!! Thank you!
This is about as cool as it gets. I prefer the nostalgia over anything else. Makes me wish I was around back then.(I'm only 22)

Awesome machines!! They make the heartbeat speed up and the face keep grinning bigger and bigger. Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing.

They should make cacklefest cologne. Nothing beats the smell of nitromethane
The sweet aroma of high octane Race Gas. Is like ... Gods Vigina !!! Great Vid.
Good for drinking too! GETS YOU LIT!!!
one the best videos I've ever seen. I would give anything to be able to be there in person, but this vid was definitely the next best thing. Thanks..

Wow, loved the old rails and some awesome push rigs as well. Excellent job!
the push cars are just as classic as the dragsters
All of these dragsters are playing my favorite songs!
This is music to my ears. I come back to this video time and time again whenever I need to clear my head.
Turning back the hands of time. Great video.

Best sound video! Beautiful cars!

PHENOMENAL! I met Television Tom at the Winternationals a few years ago and what a warm, personable man he is! Humble and loves to share a laugh.
I didn't know money could sound that beautiful.

This still kicks ASS in 2022.
I missed the era born in 80 grew up around the strips but man i would trade it all for the time when sex was safe and racing was dangerous
I'll make you fell worse...lol. I grew up in So Cal in the 60s I raced a '34 3 window A/FA at 7 different tracks within 2 hours of my house...until the draft caught up with me.
been 2 la and some cackle fest but is awesome.....looking forward to seeing that live
It has become apparent to me that these “cars” are not much more than engine stands with slicks and a seat! What a time to be alive…
Great video, outstanding quality!
love the begining to the end. OUTSTANDING!
The entire worlds supply of 392's all in one spot. Epic display of the world's fastest sport and some of the finest iron I have ever witnessed.
Well, not the world's fastest sport, but close. That would be Bonneville, or Reno Air Races (500+ mph)
@@vintagesurvivor Perhaps I should have been a bit more specific.
Beautiful video but good God that intro and outro is just freakin AWESOME!!! Really sets it off!!!
OVERLOAD! Hot damn I love it.
Awsome,Thanks for the time it took to ' Make This ' Montiac
WOW! Thank you for posting this. I wish I could have seen the drags when they looked like this. That shot of Tommy at the end... cool... T.V. Tommy! Cool! :D
SERIOUSLY GREAT VIDEO , ALL THE GREATS WERE THERE. THE SNAKE, MONGOOSE, DON "SWAMP RAT" GARLITS. PERFECT MUSIC.
The music and the sound makes me a young boy again. I love it and can smell the nitro though out my computer.
Love videos like this!! POV is perfect !!! Sound Great aswell. Great job man.
Keep Up The Good Work !!!
Man, they should let those old legends do burn outs and dry hops so the crowd goes wild!
love the push vehicles used. I was lucky enough to go to the March Meets in the 70s and early 80s. Fomoso is the best track
Thanks, was always nervous sitting over rear end.

You don't see many top fuels of the '70s! Loved them all!
I remember at Sacramento speedway they had the classic top fuel dragsters like those and they roll them down like a parade it was the coolest thing I have ever seen
Truly amazing.
Other than the clothing people are wearing - this is just like a drag racing event in the 1960s. The dragsters are gorgeous and the classic cars and trucks are a nice touch.
Best shit I've seen on CZcams all year !
Brings back a lot of cool memories

*****
5 stars!!
Great Video!!
words can not describe.

Crazy rides, love the old cars!
These drivers had King Kong balls to say the least. These cars made my life so pleasant in the 60’s and 70’s at Great Lakes Dragaway.
Les, you are the man.
Ah! Here @ 8:22 you have the Bishop & Buehl fuel altered (AA/FA) running the big block Chevy. Back in '68 the altereds were really big in SoCal where I lived. I remember that too, Curt Graham. Them was the days.
Nothing cooler that 60’s top fuel cars. 👍🏻
Les, then end bit...just brilliant..
WOW!!! WHAT A VIDEO !!!
I remember those well.The good old day's....
nice rides where is vid of them rolln phat down the track
I remember going to the night under fire in the 80's when the world was a better place !!🤔☹
Sweet Music!
Quite a few people hating on here. Don't know why. All the paint, chrome, gold leaf and noise was awesome! Watch and enjoy. Or don't. Free will, baby.
Awesome vid, cheers.
