Jeepers, that's an award-winner for sure. In the width of cracks. There is no way to fix up that clutch plate. The remaining cracks are just going to grow wider and wider with each clutch application, until the whole plate flies apart and wrecks things and maybe people. Also reusing the old springs is a very dubious economy. If the clutch plate is that cracked, it's likely the clutch has been very hot which anneals the clutch springs and leads to more slippage.

Agreed. Cracks are too deep. Might be salvagable if spray-welded and then trued up. If its too thin , it'll heat up too fast and those cracks will progress right thru it eventually. ..

My good man, your shop does hard work and the people there work hard too, but this is not the item to be resurfacing. That plate is replaceable for a reason. When they get cracks in them like that, you do not resurface them, you melt them down for scrap. Re-using that plate is dangerous. It is badly damaged, and rotates at a couple thousand RPM. Someday it will grenade and everything and everyBODY around it will be in danger.
I've watched a number of your videos. Quite a few. I understand that conditions are different where you live. Much like they were in America 120 years ago, but some things are too critical to re-use, such as this plate that was resurfaced.
Thanks for the videos. Try to stay safe!

In India and Africa We do these type of repairs commonly. it is not dumb or stupid. It is necessity. Our currency is worth Zip. A new flywheel is several years' salary. So we use machineable cast iron rods and weld the cracks. Heat treat the whole flywheel then machine it back on a lathe and finally a tool post grinder. In 40 years of machining like this, I have never had a clutch flywheel, pressure plate, Brake drum, or disk "fly apart". Remember most heavy vehicles (as in the video) are old and use old-fashioned technology and designs. That makes the unit a lot more forgiving. We also do a lot of repairs on late-model engines and equipment, but it is less easy and requires a lot more attention to detail and metallurgy treatment.

@@evengineering7136 Glad to hear that you do things the right way. Unfortunately most of these videos do not show any care taken at all. The economics are dubious at best. The safety consequences could be very bad. You can only cut so many corners until it results in failure or disaster.

Why a lathe whit a 4 indipendent chuck and... Use a base whit a piece of steel for "align" all, like to align a bycicle wheel?

I saw them resurface both the flywheel and the flexplate, but they didn't take any material off of the flywheel standoffs, usually those are ground to match what was taken off of the flywheel.

Whenever I take up a job, as much as replacing a belt or something else the book says ‘torque to spec’. I see no torque wrench around…

Looks like a dual mass flywheel. Which is a sacrificial part, to be replaced at every clutch plate replacement.
It's pointless to try and resurface, as the internals will have been worn out. They'll soon have that vehicle back in their shop as a warranty repair. Yes, a DMF is rather pricey. But it does have to replaced.
