Coconut oil, ghee and grass fed cow butter is also good I use all these and extra virgin olive and avocado.
Coconut oil isn’t really as good as those other options
Hate to break it to you. Anything that has high saturated fats are not good, like ghee, coconut oil and butter. Mustard and olive oils are better.

Yeah

A treat for the eye! 👍
It depends what you plan on doing with oil. If drissling on pasta after it’s cooked then extra virgin olive oil if you plan on cooking a meat sauce for a pasta then probably sunflower/coconut oil or rapeseed if you a fan. My granny who lived to 98 with excellent heart health used lard………yeah lard and use to eat beef dripping from Sunday roast beef at tea time with bread. She also use to home cook most foods and ate lots of veg and fish……plus she never owned a car so walked everywhere or ran for bus….different times we now have central heating and a much easier life where we need far fewer calories than out grandparents but oddly we consume on average more because of all the hyper processed addictive foods such as Pringles

In my experience, sesame oil is used as a seasoning, not a cooking oil. So people use a few drops of it, and I doubt you'd get much benefit from avoiding that.

@ganjasleeper6116 You realize that sesame oil has been used as a flavoring in many Asian cultures for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Yes, these cultures have some of the healthiest populations out there.
I wouldn't recommend cooking with sesame oil as I has a somewhat low smoke point and will burn, but the amount consumed as a seasoning is quite small. Maybe a tsp at a time.
Yeah toasted sesame oil is used for flavour only. but you can get un toasted sesame oil also that is used for frying but it less common.

Lard, tallow, and butter are the healthist oils to cook with. I don't cook with olive oil, I use it as a flavor booster at the end. Just drizzle it over or make a dressing. I don't trust cooking at high temps with it.
When I was a kid I remember seeing lard and crisco all the time

Those oils he mentioned as better for cooking are high in omega 9s if memory serves from long ago. It isn't that omega 6 is bad, but it is difficult to get enough omega 3 so most people have a deficiency of omega 3 and/or an "imbalance" of omega 3 vs 6 intake.

Olive oil is used here in Sicily for frying, it is much healthier than other oils. I used to fry with seed oils because I grew up in the USA, now I don't even buy them ever. We have olive trees we harvest and get our oil cold pressed and this way we are sure of what we are getting. I use delicate olive oil even for baking cakes. I don't understand this idea that it's bad for frying, just don't let it burn and change the oil often.
Olive oil's rich in MUFA which on frying is converted to SFA with possibility of TFA formation, both of which is not good for the heart. Although your last point is definitely valid.
Why should you change the oil often?

@@PiousMoltar You're about a decade out of date. Your issue is unsaturated/transfats, not saturated fats.
@@PiousMoltar Breads do that more than Oils.
I will disagree with the avocado oil. Not because it's bad, but studies have shown ( at least on the US ) most avocado oil is either rancid or not just avocado oil. And it doesn't matter if you buy from Erewhon, Whole Foods or Stop and Shop.
Chosen avocado oil is legit. Dark glass, and from 1 source. Read the back label
Same thing can be said about evoo. Also, comment above me is correct.
Yup, why not just get a real avocado.
@@CeeSparks I did say "most", with 70% being the most recent statistic I can find. While Chosen does seem to be a reputable brand, there have benn unsubstantiated claims of soybean oil adulteration and it is expeller pressed which reduces vitamin content and damages some of the antioxidant properties of the oil. That said its not as bad as other methods but its not cold pressed which is the gold standard for seed oil production. Furthermore, most avocado oil is produced in or with Mexican avocados. Believe it or not the Mexican avocado trade is run by the same cartels smuggling drus into the US.
@@deetz23 I made no claims of EVOO. However, it does show a lower rate of adulteration and spoilage than avocado oil. This is a result of more stringent testing and industry self-regulation. I'm not saying this will always be the case for avocado oil but as a growing and relatively new market the industry standards are not there yet.
Also mustard oil is pretty much good 👍👍
Coconut oil and Ghee are good oils?
We would say probably not. Coconut oil is 80-90 percent saturated fat. Ghee is almost 50 percent saturated fat.
Butter or Coconut for cooking; Olive for salad dressings (never heat) ...and never, ever use any oils from seeds!
Hi Chris. We would agree with limiting or eliminating the seed oils. Also agree with the olive oil as it didn’t do well with significant heat. We woukd prefer avacado to the saturated fat laden butter or coconut oil. But to each his own! Thanks for watching and subscribing
@TalkingWithDocs Thank you, but just to add to the mix, there are an increasing number of studies challenging as myths the dangers of Saturated Fats and Cholesterol! Avocado oil is only recently readily available in the UK, but I will give it a go!
