  • This is an aerial tour of the Aquiares Coffee Farm, Costa Rica's largest continuous coffee farm.
From the drone video above, you can see some of the steps Aquiares has made over the years toward greater biodiversity.
Native shade trees are dispersed through the rows of coffee plants. They filter nitrogen into the soil, while the trees' leaves, seeds, fruits, and branches eventually drop and turn into natural compost for the soil. The thousands of trees planted over the last two decades have also made the Aquiares coffee farm a haven for Costa Rican wildlife.
Over time, the regenerative changes to farming practices at Aquiares have naturally nourished the soil, and the entire ecosystem around the farm.
You'll also spot the giant Ceiba ("Tree of Life") on the hill overlooking the coffee farm's mill. The tree is part of Aquiares' logo.

I remember taking a tour of a coffee plantation in Costa Rica. The guide said “we have very strict child labor laws in Costa Rica. If you see children in the fields. They are probably from Panama “. Lol
