  • Checking out the new M12 impact wrench. This is not my official review for this tool but my first impression is its very light and I was impressed that it could break loose what it did and have that much battery life left. I started with a 4.0 battery at full charge and the tool was used in mode 3 through the whole video.

It is a strange question to rate the “weight” of this unit because it is basically a giant torque electric motor on the end of a handle- so yes, it is top heavy. I’ve had the chance to use it a couple times to remove tires and wheels and it works great czcams.com/users/postUgkx4ynqaujg7rZKFapA8s29kTpRszJGa3-K There are three torque settings so that you don’t overdo it and strip a lug. Very happy with it, especially with the price of buying it as a bare tool.

So much more power than you'd expect from 12 volts! I narrowly picked it over Makita's 18v Subcompact model. I'm glad I did, the M12 system has all kinds of handy tools from these torque-y impact wrenches, to a Dremel-style rotary tool (that accepts Dremel accessories) to oscillating multitools, to all kinds of lights. I'd go for the linear style (how to describe) if I wanted to fit into places a ratchet would normally fit. Never had one of THOSE, but all the guys at the Ford shop had one, back in the '80s. I don't do the battery tools, although they'd be a convenience on the road. I just use compressed-air tools.

Dude I got the 1” and that damn thing came all around breaking my wrist trying to one hand it. Take tractor tires off, combine, 18 wheeler like it’s nothing. I use my 1/2” most though. Mine is a lil different than yours here in video. Mine has a longer barrel on it. They so g no joke though. I don’t have to keep a huge compressor w me every where I go now.

If that axle nut was your typical rusty 10-15 year old version I doubt it would have budged but it still seems like a good tool

Brandon Evans It wasnt bro, my Jeep is well kept and that axle was replaced last year but I have other tools for fastners like that. My goal was to get a feel for the longevity of the battery life and get an idea for how it would hold up to everyday abuse

Who buys a impact wrench based on battery life.....get a dewalt it will pull your "nuts" off and pull em through a straw

Shade tree mechanics everywhere (myself included) rejoice! No longer will you need a breaker bar to loosen the lug nuts before spinning your tire iron like a fidget spinner.

    1 Corinthians 15:1-4
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" KJV

Enough to take bolts out but I wouldn't tighten it back on. Probably add another 50ft/pds to your lug nut torque..

Impressive, the 3/8s version doesn't seem to put that much punch but I only use it on small stuff for the most part, still fully charge after 2 months. I have a xr for bigger stuff, I bet the m18 will do ya good too though if you're in a shop environment air tools are the way to go.

I was always taught at my auto mechanic school that it is bad to remove an axle nut with an impact wrench unless you are planning on replacing it and the CV axle. My instructor didn't say why it is bad, but just wanted to give you a heads up. Love that impact though, I plan on getting one for work after I finish school.
