    About James Marshall:
    Before founding the Natural Lifestyles, James had a very colorful career in an amazing variety of areas. His different vocations and passions have given him a unique set of skills directly applicable to seduction and modern romance. From touring the country in his band (playing everything from huge festivals to a private performance for the Rebel Motorcycle gang), running his own successful massage business, to studying martial arts at Shaolin temple and representing Australia in Kung Fu; James has always pushed himself to explore his ultimate potential in whatever he pursues.
    Women are naturally attracted to men who follow their dreams, so along the way he has developed great proficiency with them. Applying the discipline and intensity of a martial artist, the sensitivity of a masseur and the artistic passion of a musician to this pursuit; he has dated many incredible women and learned a great deal by observing and listening to them.
    As a coach James is an astute listener and is able to read between the lines to get straight to the heart of his clients issues. He has an deep knowledge of body language and conversational patterns, which allow him to transfer immediately useful practical advice to his clients. His style infield is relaxed and charming and he is particularly good at helping clients get into deep rapport with the women they meet and setting them up on the path to successful relationships.
    James brings a wealth of life experience, innovation, empathy and humor to the Natural and is committed to seeing other men making the absolute most of their time on this planet.

    Reject all ideologies they're CULTurally ingrained belief systems. There are 3 sides to every story, history, herstory and the truth which always sits in the middle while the conversation takes place around it. This is why I will no longer call myself a feminist. As soon as you label yourself you become shackled to the ideas and belief systems of that cult. Be a free thinker, a seeker of truth. Men and women are not equal in nature, we are meant to balance each other. Thankyou for this talk, I disagree with some points but agree with far more- a very necessary contribution to the conversation.

    One of the aspects of James that I like is the fact that he rarely sounds like he's reading from a textbook. He's usually a no-bullshit, trust-your-own-instincts kinda guy. So it's disappointing to hear him spout something that sounds like a verbatim Tumblr post from a first-year gender studies student. For someone who often talks about 'unplugging' from flawed societal narratives, it baffles me that he should jump on today's most vacuous media narrative just as it's beginning to implode under it's own bullshit.
    I'm no MRA. Men and women face different challenges in life, and I think it's both morally right and useful for men to understand and appreciate the trials women face (just as the reverse should also be true). But anyone who thinks this stuff through with a critical mindset can see that 'the patriarchy' is a pseudo-intellectual bogeyman/conspiracy theory. I'm sure Marshall knows a lot about female psychology, but this leaves me wondering which of his one-night stands made him read Caitlin Moran.

      +21 Studios No, POORLY said. Patriarchy is an obvious and important fact of history, NOT a "pseudo-intellectual bogeyman/conspiracy theory." Where feminism runs into trouble is in exaggerating the import of patriarchy in the modern world, in which patriarchy plays a much smaller (or even non-existent) role. That's where the "bogeyman" etc. slur starts to make some sense. But what Marshall said about patriarchy and etc. was spot-on and historically accurate. He did not exaggerate in either direction. Good, balanced presentation, and a good antidote to the anti-feminism backlash which has gone too far. Feminism has its excesses, but also has its truths, which are important.

    • @21s
      @21s  Před 8 lety +1

      alan2102 You're homogenizing feminism into a singular movement and event. False. Feminism has distinct waves.
      The current wave doesn't have "some truths" and "some excesses". It is *all* overboard, and leeching off of the legitimacy of classical feminism that has long disappeared from the movement, consisting of individualism, justice, and a real respect for Western Civilization.
      Your approach reeks of middle ground fallacy.
      yourlogicalfallacyis.com/middle-ground
      - ADJ

    • @neonatalpenguin
      @neonatalpenguin Před 8 lety +1

      +alan2102 Look, I understand why groups of people (whether they’re feminists, religious people, 9-11 truthers, etc) buy into twisty-turny narratives that look good on a blackboard, and confirm their pre-existing views. It’s just disappointing when someone who has taught people practical ways of freeing themselves from such narratives then buys into one.
      I’m sorry, but the notion that men get together (presumably at some sort of MRA Bilderburg Group) and work out ways of oppressing women (in often needlessly complicated ways that only end up hurting men) is loopy. If the patriarchy existed, it would have proven so ludicrously bad at achieving its aims, that it would have been abandoned centuries ago.
      The truth is; even 800 years after the Magna Carta, we still live amidst the remnants of a feudal system. Modern gender roles still bear the imprint of when we were dirt-poor tenant farmers living in twig huts on land owned by a tyrannical king, who needed us to be cannon-fodder at a moment’s notice (an arrangement that often worked out poorly for men and for women). If that’s what you mean by ‘patriarchy’, then fair enough. But when many feminists talk about the patriarchy, it's like they're recounting the plot from an early-70s conspiracy theory novel.
      There are so many different contradictory tenets and worldviews under the ‘feminism’ umbrella (some of which, as you say, make sense), that the word is near-meaningless anyhow. But if an “anti-feminist backlash” is beginning, maybe that’s a sign of half-baked narratives crumbling, and a healthy equilibrium being found, much like a malaria patient getting rid of a long and delirious fever.

  • @SuperBartles
    @SuperBartles Před 5 lety +8

    The thing about "equality" (an impossible term to define) is that there are lots of inequalities in lots of different areas. Men don't benefit from all these.
    So if feminists concentrate only on the areas where women are behind, and ignore men's problems, then they aren't "pursuing equality" they are just using the word equality to get a better deal for women (& one that gets worse for men all the time, you start to notice this when you become a Dad). Big difference
    Then there's the question of whether absolute equality in all areas is possible or desirable at all (because the sexes are different). There are so many things wrong with that remark of James' that I'd be writing an essay to address them all...

    • @tonywoutrs
      @tonywoutrs Před 3 lety +1

      I felt the same while listening. He didn't explore the grey areas. I think it should be acknoledged that there's a massive difference between everyday women trying to strive and totalitarians with a fixation on identity politics, and sadly it's these people who hijacked feminism and it's these people who are affecting our media, jobs, children and so on.
      But I don't think James explores this fringe and neither was it necessary to prove his point. The fact of the matter is, there are too many men who blame feminism for their struggles, and they'll get nowhere just like the feminists who blame the patriarchy for everything.

  • @Timo1o1

    Very interesting and intelligent talk. Enjoyed it thoroughly. I definitely disagree on 3rd wave feminism, they explicitly don't deal with oppression of women in 3rd world countries the way you portray them but rather with petty made up "issues" in western society, so that part was misinformed. But I do agree with the message that blaming and hating feminism is not a good strategy. And that part about not sticking to one ideology is golden, pure wisdom.

    I usually enjoy James Marshall talks because of the insight it offers to all men. However, I'm a bit disappointed with this one. 21:18- 23:05 makes it seem as if women never spew false rape accusations, especially if the guy is a good seducer. Furthermore, James discounts this phenomenon by saying it is a mere "2%" as if that isn't thousands of falsely imprisoned men going to jail. This is the type of feminist mindset that causes a lot of problems. I have no problem with spreading equality between men and women, and actually advocate for it, but feminism always seemed like the wrong tool to go about it.

      +Paul Hidinger The 21 Convention is the only company in the world to successfully integrate philosophy with self-improvement, and to also do so across such a broad range of ideas. Grossly generalizing our audience into viewers looking for "quick tips on how to bust a nut" is one of the most insanely stupid comments I have ever seen on our channel.
      James was anything but bold throughout the bulk of this video. The views are conventional, the claims arbitrary, and the attitude widely dismissive. Your "salute" is unearned and undeserved.

    • @paulhidinger4010
      @paulhidinger4010 Před 9 lety +6

      +21 Studios I am advocate for the company's mission and the products/information you create and supply (especially because information is "free" in a sense on youtube to us. My aim was not to "grossly" generalize your following, but to use harsh exaggerations to convey a point. Obviously, 21 Studios disseminates a wide variety of information (health, finance, philosophy, exercise, etc), however a fraction of followers look to PUAs because they feel hurt or scorned by women and are seeking retribution. Although this is a minority and the confidence that PUAs instill in their clients do translate to other facets of their clients' lives, "men" such as this do exist and James mentions direct interactions with them in this speech.
      The real area we seem to disagree then is that you say, "James was anything but bold throughout the bulk of this video." I would argue that any presenter, especially one being videotaped and uploaded to the internet- regardless of topic-, is bold by this act alone. These presenters you upload are voluntarily putting themselves at risk of being crucified for their ideas by anonymous trolls, uninformed/informed individuals, and (apparently) the company uploading the video in the first place.

    • @21s
      @21s  Před 9 lety +6

      Paul Hidinger Thanks for the reply.
      Those followers you refer to are not actual fans of The 21 Convention. As you seem to imply (and if so, I agree) they are here only because it is a source of dating advice to them. They could mostly, give a shit less about the platform those ideas are being presented on, in the full context of other speeches and ideas being given on the same platform.
      This is why the videos are so different from the events. The events cannot be consumed in isolation. All of the speeches are heard consecutively over 3-4 days, and are even compared to one another, live.
      As I see it, the "pua followers" who watch our videos have little to nothing to do with us. They are stuck in the past and refuse to move forward to better ideas.
      Regarding the men James mentioned, as having direct contact with, you are failing to mention one important fact that James did remember to say: he did not meet them at The 21 Convention, but another conference that has nothing to do with 21 Studios.
      James' comments then were not even addressed to the 21C audience, but to other audiences that we largely repel and do not widely attract.
      Regarding your final comment, the act may be bold, but the ideas weren't. Read my former comments closely. I was not addressing the act of speaking, but the substance and ideas themselves.
      Also, we're not crucifying James. The video was published intact and uncensored on our mail channel, as well as 21 University, our private streaming service. We even created previews and a special trailer for the talk.
      James is not above scrutiny and I'm taking him to task for what I believe are completely false ideas, lacking rigor.
      Had James previewed the bulk of this talk with me, I would have vetoed it and asked him to pick a different topic if he wished to speak.
      Speakers in the future will be required to do so to prevent mistakes like this from happening.

      +21 Studios Yes I agree with the first premise absolutely. Those men only looking at the dating advice are not the avid followers- they are not making a palpable display to their valuation of 21 Studios because they are not purchasing the tickets(like you said those that do literally(and then figuratively) buy-into the company are your true followers or "tribe" that your company will back and support as your target audience while the prior are your inadvertent audience that you do not identify with).
      Excellent discussion.
      Thank you for clearing up the whole situation and the company's stance on this video.

    not the best James Marshall speech, but still good

  • @PromjerdooSplit
    @PromjerdooSplit Před 8 lety +16

    This is why this speech sucks; he says:
    1) ''Don't automatically put women in submissive role...it should be her decision.''
    - As if she doesn't have a choice to leave if she doesn't like it.
    2) ''You don't have to be a traditionally masculine man.''
    - This is like the advice ''just be yourself'' given to a 25 year old insecure virgin.
    If being ''yourself'' produce worse results than being ''traditionally masculine'', than you should do what does produce results. And in this case, most women prefer a traditionally masculine guy over the feminine guy. Especially hot women.
    Political correctness is one thing, but reality is another thing. And reality is that most women prefer a masculine men over feminine men.
    And since the opposite polarities attract each other, the more feminine (a.k.a. hotter) the women is, the more masculine guy needs to be to attract her.
    OFC, not all cases, but you get the gist...
    3) ''Male and female roles in society are not fixed (pre-decided) by nature. It is a cultural thing.''
    - Yes, they are. Males have testosteron, women have estrogen. That's why most men are suited for a leading role in relationship, and most women are biologically suited for submissive (supportive) role.

I don't mean that it is the masses that are against masculinity but the media/Government is trying to see how far they can promote/push feminism to the point where the healthy power play he mentioned that IS great, is not adhered to but instead far out to the point where the male counterpart is minimized and held with discontent. For a man to have 50% of the say is seen as bad simply because masculinity is seen as being the base of the patriarchy. It was never masculinity that is the cause of the patriarchy but dogma as he stated which I agree with. But today in 2021, masculinity is under figuratively speaking "attack". In my opinion, this speech turned a bit like Rollo said - man are man and women are the way they are because of men. So you men, men up and take care for those desperate single mother and treat them like independent princesses.
    Sorry, but that has nothing to do about what a man is. We are about drive, mission, purpose, invention , exploration.
    During the wars, I bet there were a lot of single mothers, because their husbands died, but that did not prevented their male kinds from being men and growing strong. They were not lost, cause they took on responsibilities from an early age.
    Usually when the head of the family dies, the eldest son becomes the head of the family - that is huge responsibility.
    Also, I don`t believe there are sensible people / men that would oppose women having equal rights and responsibilities. In my country (Easter European) women were never forbidden to vote , drive a car, pursue a career, but women prefer to be stay at home moms , take care for kids and their husband and be his wing men, and he took care of her , because that is what made them happy.
    Honestly the biggest problems in the world come from social constructs and experiments made in the USA that some people think this should become a global norm for each society , country, region, etc.

Womanism had always been about women rights & the injustice against real victims, but it is getting tarnished by the attention seekers who keeps stealing the spotlight & spitting ideas that are overshadowing the more serious issues just so they can feel included. We are at the stage in time where masculinity is no longer determined by the patriarchy but the matriarchy sure is trying to define that. Being a man is all about being independent & responsible for yourself. You can be anything so long as you dont bring others down & you are at ease with yourself.

As I have stated, had I known that it was going to be given, I would have rejected the speech and asked James to pick another topic, or sit the entire convention out.
      The fact that it exists is primarily a mistake, not an intentional outcome. Publishing it is just the best choice given all of the circumstances, history, and other factors surrounding the speech.
      You're valuing something that the platform it exists on does not support, at all. The platform is here to support what is right and true, not a random assortment of different ideas "coexisting".

    James was correct about Feminism until he started speaking about 3rd Wave Feminism. The feminists of today do not advocate against female genital mutilation or the oppression of women seen in other cultures. They are completely silent about human trafficking or inequality in 3rd world nations. They do not want equality, but rather, female privilege--with no concern for men's rights or needs.
    The 3 core issues of 3rd Wave Feminism are Patriarchy, Wage Gap and Rape Culture...all of which do not exist in Western society, and all of which paint men as oppressors and women as victims. This speech would have held more legitimacy for me if he also told women to stop making themselves into victims through feminism. I completely agree that men shouldn't whine about feminism and use it as an excuse for not living the life they want. But they should also be warned to avoid women brainwashed with this type of victimhood ideology.

And when a "hello" will / could / can get you nailed with a sexual harassment claim in the #MeToo / Nottinghamshire world (with other jurisdictions pushing for similar legislation) there simply is no good reason to speak to a girl. She will not help with my finances, but I am always expected to bail her out, She will not provide emotional support as any weakness will be tabulated, recorded and assessed against me at a later, She will not bring peace into my life as they all thrive on drama - and when there is not drama; they will create it.
