“Oh Well” is a song originally written and recorded by Fleetwood Mac. It is accompanied by a music video that shows Deep Purple on a very special mission.
Label and management would like to state that nobody from the band or crew, nor members of the media, were hurt during the shooting of the video in Germany in early October.
“Everyone knows ‘Oh Well’ is a great song,” Roger Glover says. “Steve did the demo for that one. You never quite know where it‘s gonna go with Steve because he is very inventive. Right up until the point, with a couple of verses in, it was pretty much the same as the original. And then, all of a sudden, it took off like a rocket… in some other space.”
“Turning to Crime” is the first studio album by Deep Purple entirely made of songs not written by the band and previously recorded by other artists. It is produced by Bob Ezrin and will be released on earMUSIC on November 26, 2021.

I also loved Deep Purple when I heard 'In Rock' and it's been downhill all the way since. This is more like 'Rock Bottom' than 'In Rock'. They should have given up doing covers after the first three albums. Nostalgic nonsense.

These "old men" are still able to rock, so even when they don't play their own songs, they add their own flair to others. I just love them from the beginning to, probably, to the end. Great,great cover!!!!
Well, for a start I think it was due to the Covid19 pandemic which prevent them from writing and recording new materials together.
@@aqalkalayuda Well, I wouldn't quite agree. They released "Whoosp!" only last year. Who records a new album every year? It was done in 60s! And it's not that easy to make covers without adding your own touch to it, so that ,in the end, your version sounds like yours own song. And I appreciate when established bands, or musicians in general, want to record a good song by their colleagues. Even if they do it so well, beauty for the ears !! And remember what Deep Purple recorded in their beginnings? Processing classics !! So I fell in love with them right away.

@@arhivariusRU A lot of songs get covered where the cover is pathetically bad, like that horrible Madonna mangling of American Pie, or Lennie Kravitz completely destroying American Woman so badly I didn't even realize it was supposed to be a cover of something the first 2-3 minutes of hearing it.
Others get covered so well the original artist says it's better - All Along the Watchtower by Hendrix vs Dylan's original is a classic example.
Others are close - Turn the Page by Metallica vs Bob Segar, Sounds of Silence by Simon & Garfunkle vs Disturbed.
Some "reworks" work (reference the last 3), others should have never existed.
This one is in the middle class IMO - good, but not as good as the original.

As a lifelong Purplehead, I was one of the few old diehards who didn't immediately start groaning when they announced that they were going to do an entire album of covers. I stuck up for the lads, saying, "Come on, given all that talent and all that history, virtually anything they do is going to be amazing! Shit, I bet the lads could do an entire album of friggin' nursery rhymes, and STILL pull it off with grace and style."
I'm overjoyed to have been proved abso-freakin'-lutely right on this one, lads. A brilliant cover, very faithful to the original, while still featuring that inimitable Purple twist! You guys totally rock, and if this first cut is anything to go by, I'm sure the rest of the album will be absolutely stellar!

I was very impressed with this tune; they kept it very faithful to the original at first, before adding their unique Purple twist. I'm looking forward to hearing more from this album, because I just know that they'll make it a great one.

Being a (late) baby boomer myself and a failed musician-turned-radio-producer with solely covers content in some obscure Greek radio, I can only say I am thrilled I'm still alive to listen to this abridging of a band I consider among the topmost in rock with the vast realm of covering such musical milestones - and, boy, I still hope to listen to Deep Purple performing Pink Floyd's "Young Lust". Hats off to you, gentlemen.

Doing a live cover is fair enough, but I am really not sure what the point is of covering this in the studio. It is not as though they could improve on Peter Green's (Fleetwood Mac) original. It is very much his song.

Been a DP fan since the first time I heard “Hush”, I was about 8 or 9. It’s been pretty damn awesome to have their music on this entire run since that first song I heard from them. I’ve never cared about what was ever written about them at any time or fallen into the “Blackmore” issues. For me it’s always been about their music. I’ve never been disappointed, this tribute to Peter Green was proof they’re all about the music as well.
I've always felt the same way, i liked every line-up and i like all of their music.

He's said he's had to adapt his voice as he gotten older so now he sings more like one of his musical heroes, Elvis Presley. That works for me...😁
Yes, Ian Gillan sounds pretty good here. Not necessarily younger, but much clearer.
I think there are 2 reasons in particular:
1. Rested voice, no tour shortly before
2. In the newer / current songs of the last 10-12 years or so he no longer tries to sing as he did when he was 25. His voice has become deeper, and given his age, that's normal and okay. And in this lower register he still sounds great and shows that he is an excellent singer - even if he can't get "Child In Time" and other high voices from the seventies and eighties.
When he doesn’t try to scream he sounds fine.

My first record was Shades of Deep Purple. My first Concert was Deep Purple in the Gruga-Halle, Essen.
This was in the beginning of the 70s. Since then i've seen them x-times till today! The older they get the better they get!

That was great!!!...I love the original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green ..Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer. Deep Purple did their own spin on this song and it is awesome!!! Great artists and musicians can do that. This goes back to the original beginnings of Deep Purple when they did their version of the Beatles song Help.
