It’s been a real long time since I’ve seen the music community collectively love an album this much. You love to see it.
you make good content too man, keep it up
Also long time since I’ve heard a really great normal solo album
Oh hello the_okayest_computer
I haven't seen anybody mention that the acronym for this album title is SIMBI.
Secretly a self titled record, gotta love it. Rap album of the year, no question.
Omg your a genius I was soo confused why the grammar wasn’t correct.
I'm waiting for the Kendrick drop to call my AOTY, but this and CMIYGL are front runners for sure.
@@gabehere Personally I think Kendricks next album won't touch this, and I don't think CMIYGL does either. As unique as Tyler and Kendrick are (and as much as I love them) I think this is really something special.
@@noah509 Kendrick has made a few "something special"s before and he is out for blood this time around, I don't think he will be left behind, they will st the very least be on the same standing ground. You don't stay 3 years in radio silent and then put out mid stuff.
@@gabehere I'm glad that your excited for it, and don't get me wrong I am too. But I feel like there was a pretty big shift in Kendrick's MO on DAMN and I just don't know if he's going to drop the album a lot of people are expecting.
I mean a bunch of rumors said this was gonna be a rock album, so I'm not confident he's about to drop another instant classic on us. But that's just me, I'd be delighted to eat my words on this topic.
"Introvert" is actually one of the greatest hip hop songs I've ever heard. No, scratch that - one of the greatest SONGS I've ever heard, of ANY genre. The bombastic orchestral production, the socially conscious and introspective lyrics, the angelic choruses, the whole SCALE of it all... it's fucking mindblowing.
I'm calling it now, this album is gonna be regarded as a hip hop classic, along with the likes of "Illmatic", "Ready To Die", "Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers", etc.
completely agree
Don't forget To Pimp a Butterfly
i agree completely
I can see it honestly, probably the first Female Rapper album to be considered as that by a lot of people.
@@abdularoun6576 no ones forgetting TPAB, no need for everyone to bring it up every time we hear the word classic album, we know it's classic, let some other people shine bright too ok

Brad's reaction to Introvert made me smile. With the amount of *dogshit* albums he has to review a lot of the time, it's nice to see him be genuinely blown away by something. And i can't blame him as this album is absolutely fantastic.
And Introvert may be one of the best album openers of all time too
@infinityquartz4744 absolutely agree, top 3 for me with Wesley's theory and be intro
You vibing to Introvert under Breath of the Wild’s blood moon while a middle eastern city gets bombed is sending me 😂
Middle Eastern??? 😭😭
MIDDLE EASTERN
This is like a dream come true for an old-school hip-hop fan. This has everything you could possibly ask for in a classic hip-hop/rap album. Dense, lush, layered production, wildly journeying through a diverse array of styles yet staying cohesive--PERFECTLY cohesive, interludes included--for over an HOUR.
Nah bro, we need more mindless drum machines and indecipherable mumbling about bitches and money!
You should check out joey bada$$ then
And an impeccible display of great flow and cadence as a rapper - I'm an oldschool Hip Hop head myself and I love it when an artist not only mastered their craft but also deliver it to us in spades !
it’s always such a joy seeing brad freaking out over an album. his more negative and critical reviews are fun too but when he’s like this its a lot more fun imo haha
I feel you can always tell Brad is being honest, too. So if he likes an album, I really like to see it because I feel like he’s being absolutely genuine. I can imagine it’d be pretty common to fake reactions online but I believe Brad genuinely reacts, which keeps me tuned in, 100%.
It’s like seeing Halley’s Comet.
Yep. As much as I have fun with his negative reviews, it's much more enjoyable to see him gushing over a record and honestly loving the music.
You listen to all those records in one day? You’re a wild man. I could never

In the SIMBI tour, when she plays Fear No Man she breaks off into this pantomime type thing half way through, telling a fable like story and u forget it’s still Fear No Man and then she goes back into the song and it’s just like OH SHIT OMG WTH ITS STILL FEER NO MAN THIS IS AMAZING THE INSTRUMENTAL BEVER WENT AWAY
If she ever does a collab album with Tyler the rap scene will shift like never before. they would compliment each other perfectly
There would be grumbiling and shaking from within the beast known as the online music community.
I feel like her and kendrick could litterally flip the music industry on its ass. Two of the best lyricists, tackling similar themes and topics. With the grandiose nature of both of their discographies. If they made a collab album. It would be over...
Her and Kendrick would go more mad but what I want to hear is her and Dave, the two best UK rappers right now and critically probably two of the top 5 best in the world over the last few years
Thissss. Their creativity in combination would be insane
i agree but honestly i think simz is plenty good enough on her own
This is easily the best hip hop album of the year.
I honestly haven’t heard a rap album this great since Atrocity Exhibition. No joke.
Best album of the year bruh.
Already in my top 4 fav hip hop albums of the 21st century
@@lukeberrie3942 i agree. I’m the first to say that it’s premature to make claims like that so soon after an album is released but this is incredible beyond belief
The only thing that can even remotely compete is the new injury reserve album, which I'm not even sure can be considered hip hop anymore
I feel the interludes on this album are just as good as the songs themselves.
The interludes are one of my favourite aspects of this album.
With how layered and nuanced the interludes were, they might as well have just been songs
First album where I’ve really felt the need to go back to interludes on their own 😭
@@artpluggg tpab too
I actually thought they were too cheesy :') I love the songs on the album but the interludes are too pretentious imo
Introvert is actually such a mind blowing opener. It was he first track I heard for the album, driving in my car when it premiered on the radio, and I had to pull over because my reaction was the same. Just in complete awe. Great song, great album, probably album of the year. Little Simz just keeps on rising

I’ve actually been rlly disappointed with some of my fav artists releasing some underwhelming albums this year. And then finally, here comes Little Simz with a masterpiece that I can’t stop listening to. Finally some good fucking music
Which artists?
this album is giving me the same feeling Tpab did when that released, not comparing their quality as thats way too early...but the fact all music fans seem to be loving it, the soulful beats, the great lyricism, just hip hop at its finest
I 100% agree, I was thinking the same thing. That album felt so profound and beyond everything else, and this album feels like that again. No other album has felt like that for me since tpab. Kinda rambling cuz i don't have the words to express how good it is. AOTD contender for sure
@@lostmyedge_ Yup! The only album I can remember giving me a similar feeling since tpab is maybe Atrocity Exhibition, but its a completely different experience
a year on and honestly i think they are comparable.. i still prefer tpab but simbi is definitely one of my few 10/10s and i think holds the exact same place in her discography as tpab does in kendricks
@@mmegidolaonn8295 SIMBI used to be a 10/10 for me but I feel like when you’ve heard it a couple times, there’s nothing more to extract from it. By then, it really feels like a tracklist rather than an experience
It’s still very fuckin amazing tho
@@R-H-B what
it's a shame that female rappers have to reach god levels of quality to be recognized :c
And still people don’t know Little Simz, maybe it’s cause she is British too. Lots of British rappers are not recognized still (except for like skepta)
Aint that the fucking truth
I mean I feel like nowadays we have a wave of popular female rappers that aren’t necessarily god-quality, but I think you have a point especially when it comes to this album in particular
Not rly, Nicki minaj and Megan thee stallion are both cycling shit but are some of the biggest artists in the world at the mo

Kanye was definitely an influence on this album, specifically College Dropout and Late Registration. The amount of references she made to him as well serves as the proof. This album is a 10 for sure. Definitely one of the best of all time and I predict it's influence on hip hop, especially in the UK.
Definitely but also a big Kendrick influence

this is easily one of your best videos brad. it’s really satisfying to see something you really love.
Ayyyyy! Love your videos man!
Introvert is my favourite song of the year. Seeing your first time reaction made me so happy. Your reaction is exactly how I felt about the track.
I've never been more confident in rating an album 10 from my first listen.
I waited and listened to this album all the way through with my girlfriend tonight. GREY Area is one of my favorite albums of 2019 and I fuck with her earlier stuff too, but holy lord. I CRIED at multiple spots from beauty and resonance with some of the shit that she was saying, and the sheer beauty of the production. Im learning to love myself at the moment, and holy lord did this album come at the perfect moment. Im almost in denial that it exists because Im just so happy it does. Her descriptions of struggle are so matter of fact yet poetic at the same time.... Ive never had more lines in an album that left my jaw on the floor from awe, or left me welling up and crying. The variety in the production with influence from drill, earlier Kanye shit, as well as Afrofunk and disco. An instant 10 for me, it might be the most resonant record ive ever had the pleasure of listening to... Little Simz with one more project like this is immediately in my top 5 artists because this might be just be my favorite album of all time, certainly immediately in my top 5. Im writing this before I watch the video, so holy LORD am I excited to see Brad's reaction.

One of the best music reactions I’ve seen. I saw this video in my feed, and I just got so excited. This album is a flawless masterpiece
Also, I’ve heard that there’s only 1 sample on this entire album
I imagine it’s I Love You I Hate You
Two worlds apart I think has a sample, I’ve heard the back vocal somewhere before.
@@luci5274 yes it is on Two Worlds Apart, the sample is from Smokey Robinson. Other than that everything is completely original stuff
I keep coming back to this album. It’s so fucking GOOD
There's something so cool about the construction of this album, and it has to do with Speed. After the first few songs set this theme of old-school hip hop and orchestral music, suddenly there's a track with a rapid beat and crazy techno sound. But the first line out of her mouth is "N****s wanna put me in a box," which is like she's immediately establishing that she can do whatever style of rap she wants, and it'll still be authentically her. And even as it transitions smoothly into Standing Ovation, which takes its cues from Introvert and cleanly denotes a kind of halfway point for the album, her breaking the mould so strongly with Speed allows for her to branch out further with the other songs like Rolling Stone, Protect My Energy, Point and Kill and Fear No Man. It's a perfect turning point
Brilliant analysis
