  • This video shows how I make a Falconry Lure for my American Kestrels. I make a bat shape and use a cord lock system to tie the food to the lure.

    @kestrelhawke
    The Kestrel will learn the food is always on the lure and should start looking for it and flipping the lure over by itself. As long as the meat side isn't in a bunch of gravel and dirt it should be fine. I do make in once the bird finds the meat and starts to break into it.

    If you dont like the meat side down put weight on the other side...in my experience when they figure out there is meat on the lure ..they will flip it just like they do prey items to get to the pinch point,my current lure has the center hole and a meat clip ..but most of mine have been with the meat attached to one side or other..I make mine the size and shape of a stooping sparrow..works pretty good., yes it does cement the bond and they will get to the point of looking for ya once on the lure

    What is the initial motivation for the kestrel to attack the lure?

    Wade best starting bird is a Harris Hawk but it's not easy 2 get them using a Lure, learn to use a Harris then get a Kestrel or Falcon 4 lures :D

    Hello! First of all thanks for your vids. They are really awesome and very helpful. Keep doing the great job. Ihave a question.. I'm training a Kestrel... he is already flying free to the fist but sometimes, the kestrel takes the food from my fist and he flies to a nearby tree. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!
