Thanks for the info, I always wondered why a team called the Rockets had a "dragon" logo.
Not from BC, but being a Wheat Kings and WHL fan, I did know about the tie-in with Ogopogo, so there is some history with that and Kelowna.
The Rebels logo is actually a cow skull or a bull. It ties in with the whole farming community of central Alberta.
I take pride in the Kelowna Rockets logo as a Kelowna native. The "dragon" is the Ogopogo who is a Lake monster. Kind of like the Loch Ness Monster. The Ogopogo is really just a sturgeon, which is a type of fish. The orange glow is supposed to be the glow from the sun, because Kelowna is generally very sunny place. One of its nicknames is actually "the Hawaii of Canada" for its heat and beautiful beaches. Many players as well love to put the jersey on. Kelowna is a very successful franchise. It makes the playoffs almost every year and is always competitive. For those that don't know many NHL superstars played for the Rockets. Players like Duncan Keith, Shea Weber, Tyson Barrie, Jaimie Benn, Josh Gorges, Alex Edler, Leon Draisaitl, and the list goes on. It's a very successful franchise that most junior players would kill to put the jersey on.
Commander Picklo Yes but he was traded to the Rockets the last half of the 2014-15 season, right after the World Juniors. He helped the Rockets win the WHL Championship, even being named Playoff MVP, and helped Kelowna make it to the Memorial Cup Final, being named tournament MVP.
FixableHippo552 as an Okanagan native I also take pride in that logo I wear that jersey proudly when I go to games and I don’t like seeing people talk my favourite WHL team down so many people would kill to throw on that logo so I agree

so i did a little research on the swift current broncos.
apparently, in 1986, the team were victims of a bus crash. brent ruff, lindy ruff's younger brother, was also killed in this crash. they now have a patch on their jersey and a trophy to remember the four players who were killed.
most seasons, they make the playoffs, but the last time they won a championship was in 1992-93.

The Winterhawks logo actually has a story behind it, when they were first formed the blackhawks donated there old jerseys for them to use and let them use the logo as long as they changed some colors

Actually when the Winterhawks were first formed the coach/part owner( I think Ken Hodge) had coached in Moose Jaw (Canucks) who back in those days played in the SJHL and were in the farm system of the Chicago Blackhawks. Back when the NHL were only six strong they paid/sponsored minor teams as a means of developing players and the teams got to use the NHL logo. The new owners with their ties to Moose Jaw borrowed the logo for the fledgling WHL Portland Winterhawks. Not sure where Steve Newton got his facts.-Crash
The Portland Rosebuds became the Chicago Blackhawks so there is that connection also.

The prince George cougars logo reminds me of the Thundercats lol.
If people actually look at the Thundercat's logo, the two logos are nearly identical.
Lethbridge is a very windy city which is why they went with the name Hurricanes. Yeah they've never actually had one, but it is a very windy city.

Well, the Pats logo is like 100 years old. They experimented with changing it to a Bulldog wearing a soldiers helmet but people here literally LOST. THIER. MINDS. So I wouldn't expect them to change it again any time soon.

There is a reason why the Portland Winterhawks use the same logo as Chicago, a Portland team the Rosebuds was purchased and moved to Chicago and became the Blackhawks in the NHL. The original Rosebuds actually played in the Stanley cup final in 1916and was the first ever American team to play for the Stanley cup. The current Portland Winterhawks use the Blackhawks logo and a similar name to make a connection with the former Portland franchise.
And because chicago gave the winterhawks there jerseys
The Saskatoon Blades changed their logo

Your dad is correct regarding the Spokane Chiefs logo. The military Chevy bars. There is a big Air Force base in Spokane.

Awesome video. I love that hitmen logo as well, but my favourite from this league is easily the Red Deer Rebels. I love the skull, the sticks behind it, it's just a logo that is one of my all time favourites from all leagues
I'm thinking as a fan and resident of Lethbridge the Hurricanes are more about the wind we get here... but of course before the Canes we were the Broncos, the Sugar Kings, and The Maple Leafs!!

As far as I know the reason for the Hurricanes being named that is because of how windy Lethbridge is. It's not uncommon to hit hurricane force winds. The only city in Canada that's windier is St. John's. and Lethbridge on average is windier than where the Carolina Hurricanes are located in Raleigh NC

The Pats are the oldest team in junior hockey and much older than the Patriots. The logo is a classic one and suits the team jersey.

+Jeff Neil lives in Fredericton, and I live on PEI. I have not followed Senior hockey too much since I moved over here (2007). It was fun in "the day" when we used to travel with the Hitmen to Rogersville, Newcastle, Grand Lake, Saint John, etc. I was the announcer and music guy for the Hitmen for several years.

I have been the PA Announcer and Music guy for a Senior AAA team called the Lacombe (formerly Bentley) Generals since their inaugural season in 99/2000 (announcer since 2003) Perhaps you have heard of then before? They have won 3 Allan Cups now. Runners up 5 times. Its a pretty big deal around here for the most part. Their league only has 5 teams, 1 from Saskatchewan, Chinook Hockey League. Its the only league with all AAA teams. Theres numerous senior leagues in Alberta. I And I also do the same for a local junior B team here in Edmonton. Capital Junior Hockey League. Used to work a team from Heritage Junior Hockey League called the Blackfalds Wranglers but after I moved couldn't fully commit.
