Could you please do a video honouring the legacy of the World's oldest Grandmaster Yuri Averbakh who recently passed away 3 months into his 100th birthday.... It would be a great way to respect the formerly oldest Grandmaster in the world
Maybe
@@hackstargaming1253 Maybe not
Levy: *Highlights knight*
Also levy: Im gonna sacrifice this *pawn*
Knight: Why are we still here? Just to suffer.
When does that happen? At which moment?
@@kendzy7 8:38
Yeah he meant that after takes takes he would lose the pawn that would re-capture the bishop.
@@poochy661 No 2:44
I like that you show traps from black's perspective. Some opponents play annoying openings and we can learn how to bully them for that.
I've been playing F5 for a long time now, in this variation or with whites BC4 as Rousseau Gambit. They are really strong for ~1300-1400 Level cause most people are caught off guard. Well...it was like that, now it was Gotham'ed, so people will know. Love your opening videos content Levy
4.d4! is there 😕then fxe4 Nxe5 d5 Bb5 and losing
@@ZdenekMicke69 Thats true but its a rare combination, I never faced this exact line. After 5. exd4 I had lines where I was still fine, some that I lost. In realistic 1300 play this is still viable but yes, its a danger to face that. On higher Levels probably not recommended I guess
@@YpsiloNG I have faced this from a player 1850 fide in a long game OTB and got a winning position because of prep but still lost because it was much harder for me to play:(
Man i love playing f5 in the ruy Lopez and the Italian. I feel like people will be more prepared now :(
@@ZdenekMicke69 Although this is correct, d4 needs very precise execution to gain any advantage. As someone who plays the Rousseau quite frequently, I think the better way is to play 4.d3, castle and just play solid. Black's position usually crumbles with the slightest pressure in the those lines.
Overused joke, but:
Me: Watches this video and studies this gambit
Me: Starts a game, ready to wreck people
Opponent: d4
Me: :(
Englund
Resign
@@jamesMK101 ah yes, and be dead lost on move 1. i mean ok play what you want but at least play something that isn't a one trick pony.
btw, if you play the jaenisch against e4, the benoni gambit (1.d4 c5) or the baltic (1.d4 d5 2.c4 Bf5) are both quite playable and very fun if you study them against 1.d4
@@NotAUniquePerson My guy, chess is a relative game. You make recommendations based off of your rating. If this guy doesn't have any ideas for a counter to d4 he's not at a rating where the Englund is dead lost lol. It's a fun gambit at low ratings, obv I'm not recommending it for high Elo plays.
@@jamesMK101 ok that makes sense and now i feel stupid lol.
either way, i hope my recommendations are helpful for op
Finally!! Bring back such informative videos in CZcams.
Literally couldnt agree more , Mohit! Glad to see this
They never went anywhere, you can’t bring them back. Why do people say nonsense like this?
Love these type of videos Levy! Never stop posting em! Maybe show the engine lines when you are analysing!
Apparently you can Greek gift sacrifice after knight c4 in that second game. The computer wants you to take on h2 and after the king recaptures it wants you to just castle which is mental.
and then you lift the rook I'm guessing? wow lol
Thank you for the instructional video! I would also love to see some content on common openings like ruy lopez in general if you are to make more of these.
Love the return of instructional videos! As chess entertainment views fall, these will always be strong!
loving these opening videos
Levy, love the content and videos. Thank you. Would you ever consider doing a behind the scenes video about what you go through to prepare content, your equipment, setup, and how you seem to have seem less videos with no mistakes. Do you Create a script or outline? Do you have staff? Keep them coming we love it.
"Happy hunting!" Nice concise intro to a very tricky response to the Ruy Lopez. I'm going to play around with this one even though the f pawn movement is a bit scary. Thanks for expanding our repertoire!!
its not scary at all because the queen is blocked in by their knight. and if the knight ever moves, you can move your knight to protect the h5 square
Hey Levy, I used the Jaenisch opening in my game and I won by resignation. Thank u so much, this really helped me get out of my normal 4 knights routine!!
Great videos, we want more!
Thank you so much for this, i struggle against the Ruy Lopez a lot and hopefully this helps or at least memorizing one line will help lol
YESSS these videos are back lets go
Yeah! Gotham is doing an openings video that I already learned but need more help with! THANKS, LEVY!
Hey Levy awesome vid. Just wanted to ask if you'd ever make a video about Yuri Averbakh, the oldest chess grandmaster. He just recently died and a video for his memory would be nice since a lot of people don't know much about him or his games but he seems to have played his fair share of a role in making chess a better sport :)
As a 2200, I’ve always been looking for an aggressive move against the Ruy Lopez! Thank you Levy!
That description seems a little lacking in these moves
Love the Vienna gambit in your course so this should be fun!
Great content dude
Thanks so much for the videos it really helps me in chess
This is fantastic stuff!
You are amazing at video making! My mom loves you because you found a way to make chess entertaining and fun!
Yeees I'm loving the Opening videos rn! More more more
Cab you please do the scotch and kings gambit next?
19:48 you do had a greek gift in that position, you were completely winning
I love that the openings videos are kinda back.
Thank you for this. I remember requesting a Gotham take on how to deal with the Ruy Lopez but then gave up after I discovered your 5 Most Annoying Openings video. I've just been using the Morphy Defence, but now I've got a great new weapon against the irritating RL
i'm really surprised that you are the first person that i saw talking about this opening, as it is legit variation even for the engines as for example stockfish with about 20-30 moves depth shows just like the basic about +0,7 adventage for white as in normal openings (with literally less than + - 0,3 difference on eval depending on which one we choose).
Levy pls do a video on the kan sicilian. I like the crazy positions in it but im not sure if im following the right plans and c4 is also a pain in the ass.
Could you do a Video on the portugiese gambit, would Love to see it explained by you
👏👏👏👏 Resounding applause! I am a Rousseau gambit player that was completely abandoning the Rousseau every time I faced the Ruy Lopez. This taught me that I can proceed with Rousseau-like tactics anyway! Fantastic content.
Thanks you vert much for this. Please, Can you do something on the " Latvian gambit" ? For black 😁😁😁😁
Hi Gotham! May you add the pgn of this wonderful opening?
Levy you are so amazing!!!!! I have been watching your videos and have climbed 1000+ in 3 months with your chess videos. You are a great help!! Plus i recently beat an 1100+ rated opponent using principles u taught me and i really want to show the game to you i dont even want it to be a part of your videos i just think this was the best game of my life and i would really appreciate if u could have an expert look at it. Please tell me how i can reach out to you. Thanks a lot u are awesome!!!
I just saw the short with the b4 in the caro so I was half hoping this would be it
Make a video on the dutch defence
I’ve played the Latvian for years and the starting position happens a lot. It’s pleasant. The Latvian move order has inherent weaknesses but I just can’t quit it.
Finally new opening videos
Damn, I was wondering why everyone was playing this against me yesterday, great video
There is also the Rousseau gambit, this is the same gambit but against the italian opening
man this video was so smooth damn
Rnadom is very good at chess
More theory videos pls 🙏🏽
can you make a opening video on queen's gambit declined or the chigorin defense please
Rnadom Noob got crushed WAIT WHAT??
Well... yeah the Schliemann Defense / Jaenisch Gambit is a pretty solid response by Black. Arguably the sharpest and most challenging reply to face as someone unfamiliar with the Ruy Lopez / Spanish Game, even more so than the Berlin Defense or the Morphy Defense which are more popular. But if White plays correctly with 4.d3 (sometimes called the „Quiet Line“) or 4.Nc3 (the Dyckhoff variation) Black needs to put in work to equalize the position like in any other defense. I like facing it as White, it breathes some freshness into the Ruy.
Any lines with castling on the queen side in the Jaenisch? I know the open f file is nice for a kings side castle, but could doubling the rooks on the f and g files be beneficial when white castles kings side?
Salute to you and your spirit.
damn . levy how much do u upload ina day
Could you make a video on the kings gambit?
awesome !
I guess Hikaru taught him not to call it the Schliemann anymore after that Tierlist...
@19:34 I was interested in the production haha!
one common thing that might happen that wasn't covered: what if after they take the pawn and you play e4 attacking the knight they take the other knight with the bishop? (and after you take they move the knight to e5)
Make a video on how to convert
I always trade right but blunder somehow
It’s kind of funny that I just so happen to have been reading up on the ruy Lopez, Dutch and Vienna this week. Lol
This is obviously a 2 weeks old video but I just won a game with that Qh5+ trap against a 1900 blitz player. Thanks for an awesome video!
Yo Gotham I love the Vienna but too often they go into the boring lines and I was wondering if you could
make a kings gambit video (I’m in the quad digits in case u were wondering)
@±¹7⁰⁸7³6⁰⁰9²👈whatsapp me for more 👍👍
Alternate title : CRUSH MONSTER! with this gambit
yo levy your hair looks better, keep up the routine bro
reminds me a lot of the Rousseau gambit
Levi.. on the time 20:00 , you can take the pawn on H2 with the bishop and then if they took you , you can move your knife with the check on G4, then queen to H4 .
At 19:57 he says there’s no greek gift, so that doesn’t work
[EDIT] I checked with an engine and apparently greek gifting works here, it's the first engine choice
Greek gift never works if they can defend along the diagonal lmao. Bf4 in that position is lights out for black
ya he says it doesn't work but no explaination as to why it doesn't work. @eel we appreciate the Bf4 info
Yes!!! More opening videos please! :o)
I stumbled across this video many many months later so I shall watch both videos
It looked to me like a solid Greek Gift in that practice game though, idk
Interesting, my favorite defense via tactics+repetition has a name: Jaenisch Gambit. I don't see it as a gambit b/c my lightsquare bishop usually recaptures the pawn on F5. And then I end up blundering 1-3 times in mid/end game b/c I'm a weak player for now... but we'll skip that part
Thanks Levy. I never had a weapon against the Ruy., but I do now! More openings videos please.
update: first try, first win. 7 moves of glory.
According to the Magnus Trainer, this variation faces some problems after moves Nc3 - fxe4, N:e4 - Nf6, Qe2. I enjoy my position as I'm playing white. I tell about it because Levy didn't mention this opportunity (nevertheless, I am sure that black gets worth play. Moreover, I would like to play it myself :) )
@ChessMech oh, thanks
Similar to the Vienna Gambit, the strength of this opening comes from the fact that a significant amount of low to intermediate players aren't familiar with it.
I play the Vienna Gambit and if black knows the theory, they basically equalize after move 3. Thing is, roughly 93% of my opponents don't know the line 👍🏻
alternative name: reverse vienna gambit, dub variation
At the 2:45 mark which pawn sacrifice are you referring to? I was thinking maybe you meant to say it was the knight (on c6) but I am not sure...thank you.
Bros, don't forget to like the video so he keep teaching us
This opening is one my favorites to play and currently I win all of my games with it
nice gambit
What if they don't play that horse after your respond with initial pond at start? Or if they do go horse, and you respond with your horse, but they don't play that bishop? Is there a good continuation for black?
Anyone else notice that gotham ended the video right at the position where he had conflicting thoughts....u know after the video he was looking up the next moves without us 😂😂😂😂
wonderful
247th day of translating Levy's titles into Neapolitan: "Sfonn cu stu gambett mostruos"
19:53 My stockfish says greek gift is best here.
You mentioned the video against the Italian, the Dark Knight Gambit. Could you provide a link, please?
The only 2 times I played this and the opponent blundered the Queen. GothamChess 🙌
The Black Vienna!!
You had a greak gift sacrifice.. I analysed the position with engine
12:57 After Bd2, doesn't Bd7 just win material? Queen has to go to either h6 or c4, and then Bb5 with a fork.
H6 is Impossible
@@damien69666 I think he means a6 and he’s right!
What is Bb5???
@@FlyHighTechnoThePig Bishop to b5. He’s saying that after the bishop moves to d7 (Bd7), (Levy played bishop to b7 (Bb7) in the game), the queen must not move to a6 or c4. Either of these squares and black then plays bishop to b5 (Bb5) and both the queen and the rook (f1) are in the bishops sight. So black is winning material
Bd7 and Bb7 are both very good, even though you don't win the exchange with what he did in the game it's just very good to keep that bishop in the long diagonal because it's too powerful there
Seems very similar to king's gambit with reverse colors. Would it be possible to achieve a triple Muzio with black?
Ah, the best opponent, "Rnadom Noob"
what if the the bishop takes knight after fxe4 variation then there is not much to do
can you do kings gambit plzzzz
One of your better opening recommendations - that doesn't mean a lot though
After the gotham city vid a few hours ago I was really hoping this would be a vid on the gothem gambit
Never heard of this gambit says the 1,300
Rated player. Me likey he continues. More of this gambit please.
This line is exactly like the Rosseau Gambit 🤝
Please make a video on Kasparov Vs hikaru 2017 st Louis
Isn't this where the famous "Dyckhoff Variation" can be found? =)
Thank you so much for your content I finally surpassed 1000 after a month of being 800-900
Damn you and me bro, well done!
I play consistently with around 40% accuracy, so I'm expecting this gambit to work every time.
I play the st George defence against e4 ;)
