Astaroth (アスタロス, Asutarosu) is a character in the Soul series of fighting games. He is set to appear in the upcoming game Soulcalibur VI, which will mark his debut appearance in the new, rebooted Soulcalibur timeline. He is nicknamed The Demonic Guard.
Biography
Soulcalibur VI
Astaroth, created by a cult who worshipped the Greek god Ares to locate Soul Edge, returns with his giant axe in-hand and a deadly attitude in tow. Swinging his giant axe with great strength, only the most skilled warriors stand a chance before Astaroth in the arena of battle. Astute opponents may be able to exploit Astaroth’s lumbering speed to their own advantage with quick strikes and dodges. Weak opponents should just prepare for destruction.

Best story mode in the game right here. They finally gave Astaroth interesting characterization beyond "DIE MAGGOT DIE".
I love how Astaroth is basically just a snarky, grumpy, murderous teenager in this game. And not just that, he finally has layers to his character. Obviously we’re not supposed to like him but his friendship with Ker, his sense of humour and his existential crisis actually make him a bit sympathetic.
More like toddler.
A scary toddler from hell
I always liked Astaroth in the series. His desire to be more than a tool and a copy, and to be his own person, is pretty touching.
And then Astaroth experiences an existential crisis.

Why couldn't they make Nightmare this interesting?
Alexander Gapour Cause nightmare is not really a character but rather a living manifestation of soul edge that controls it’s poor host and makes them give it more souls.
Dude has a point, in here in this story, Nightmare lacks self-awareness and relies on mostly instinct. I see Nightmare but an animal hunting his prey. However, I still enjoyed his story, but if you want characterization, I advise you to look into Siegfried. He is technically Nightmare.
