“Fits 8 full size Doug Demuros.” 😂
Best part of the video!
Lmao is anyone else thinking about the video with Doug and hoovie where he was talking about how these suvs were going to get valuable?
Eli Herman no doubt!
thats alot of Dougs
*slaps roof* This bad boy can fit so many Doug Demuros
"6 cupholders within arms reach!"
This is truly the most American car ever made.
almost made to drink and drive
I like how to second row of seat you can pull that little thing down (I can't describe it). But the cupholder in the middle seat of the second row. I love it, oh also it is an Eddie Bauer package.
6 cup holders for the driver, AMERICA....
I have one it actually has like 10 total. I heard there was a upgrade that would bump that to 11 to hold the record for most cup holders in any car ever.
To bad all the cupholders in the front are horrible😅 have to use the back seats
My 2003 Excursion just turned 300,000 miles on original V10! Almost no repairs needed in 17 years! LOVE it!
I once saw one of those and i told myself "Who the hell had installed a third row and a roof on an F-350?

F-350 exist man!
Dusty Dude Of course. But from what I understand, the Excursion used the F-250 platform.

Yeah but i tought it was an f-350 because it is so B I G
Love how Hoovie will buy absolutely anything. Much more entertaining than just sports cars.
I think he's just doing this to annoy the wizard now with even more crazy things
dekhunter 1 he’s trying to give the wizard more work so he could pay his poor office manager a decent living wage.

"Service engine soon" light is on.
This is gonna be goooooooood
Kevin Helmboldt it’s a Ford I think they come that way
My friends dad has a 7.3 excursion, feels like your driving an apartment complex
My dad had the 6.0 Excursion when he was towing large loads for his old business. My mom, and later my sister, drove me, my brother & some of our friends to school in it during winter. My sister said it was like driving a boat; my mom said it was like driving the _Titantic._ 😂
I think they’re going to bring back the excursion, but an excursion isn’t an excursion without a 7.3 Powerstroke.
@@michaelbenoit248 Amen to that!
Yeah. You can’t replace a 7.3. All the emissions crap has destroyed todays diesels!
🤣
Bought a V10 version in 2000. We had 5 kids and this could hold everyone and lots of luggage. Great for traveling. Still have it! Very powerful, reliable and so roomy.
@@markasread4349 We never had any major engine or transmission repairs needed. Replaced the rear end after many miles. We had well over 200,000 miles on it. The only issue that I couldn't resolve was it kept draining the battery, so I traded it in. This occurred in the last year, but was fine until then.
Hoovie: "This thing is bigger than anything else on the road...."
Doug shows up in the F-650: "Oh, hello down there, tiny SUV"
This is an avengers level threat
YY2 The excursion was the largest factory SUV made.
Yeah, that F-650 was a bit impressive. Not very useful, but still impressive.
International CXT anyone?
Not unless he buys this one: facebook.com/marketplace/item/610128103109787/ - Put a 6" lift on it and some 37's and really dwarf anything on the road!
This engine is so big the fuel pump is more powerfull than the engine is my moms Ford Ka.
You should do a swap in that thing lol.
The funny thing is, that statement is probably true.
Funny fact : The Endura engine in your Ka, has the same fuel economy of that V8.

My 04 v10 has 230k on it. And it's an Ohio truck with a shit ton of rust underneath and it's still chugging along
313k on my 02 V10
My dads had one for 6 years, been having to put a lot of money into her but starting it up and listening to the 7.3 whistle is something else. Refer to it as the beast for a reason.
"Look at this little Hyundai right here. Ohh it's so cute."

I've ridden in an Excursion once... to the Vail Valley Medical center years ago after a skiing accident. I've loved the vehicles ever since. I settled for an F350 king ranch dually power-stroke now :)
@Charles Woodard Makes it hard to pull the 5th wheel trailer though...
My family has a 2000 Excursion, with the V10. I'd love the good ol' 7.3 power stroke in it, but that V10 does a damn good job. We've never had any major problems with it and it's heading towards 200,000 miles. Great vehicle, and handles the mud well!
In europe we need a semi-truck driving license for this SUV 😂
For anyone reading this, it's not a joke.
It's so heavy, if you put more than 2 people in it you need a semi truck license.
Max weight for a normal license is 3500kg.

Dan//, correct. I’ve never understood everyone’s fascination with them. Yes, they will last a long time but they are completely gutless. Had a small f250, regular cab, with a manual, that thing was more gutless then my 4 banger s10 😂. But you could row gears like a maniac and still be doing 15 under speed limit just about every where you go.

@@henrikcarlsen1881 The Explorer had the Firestones.
My brother had one of these with the V10. It was like driving a strip mall.
I have a 2005 4wd V10 Excursion too. I'm sure the 7.3l Diesel is a great beast of a motor, but personally, I just prefer the big block gas powered V10's sound. I only carry my 2 daughters with me, I put less than 10k miles a year on it, and I don't pull anything with it. So having a diesel isn't a huge need for me. This V10 is very reliable and plenty powerful enough for my needs. I took out the 3rd row so my 2 girls have a huge play area whenever I'm parked anywhere. 👌😁
🤣🤣
I grew up with one of these, it was a 2000 limited trim with the v10, and that thing in a word was awesome. Took a road trip in it from maryland to montana and it averaged maybe 12 mpg and with a 45 gallon feul tank the old f250 station wagon, as i like to call it, wasnt exactly ecinomical. But boy was it comfortable and fun
I still miss my Excursion. I never should have sold it
I've heard this from most former Excursion owners, regret, regret, regret.
@@habanero8192 I traded mine of this week and I'm already kicking myself. It was just so nice to drive.
I own a 2005 Excursion 4wd with a V10. Contrary to this guy, I think the V10 is also a great engine at least for this 2005 model year as that spark plug issue I believe was resolved by Ford. And I grew up around muscle cars so I do love the sound of a gas-powered big block V10. 👌
@@hillclayj Mine was a 2000 v10. I never had any problems but I was definitely aware of the spark plug problems.

Andrew Butler That’s not even broken in Lol
Andrew Butler we had one for work and some idiot filled it up with gas TWICE! We drained the tank each time, filled it up with diesel and it ran like a champ. That thing truly is bullet proof.

My mom had one exactly like that while I was growing up. I love hearing that 7.3 it reminds me of hauling hay bales and going to auctions.
I just traded my 03 Excursion in on a 6.7 Powerstroke Super Duty. It was a 6.0 Powerstroke that was deleted and all the good stuff. I miss it so much already. It was so nice to drive. @@huningtonsachs9043 I love mine so much. Did you end up getting it tuned and decatted? I put a LCD Edge Tuner on it. Gained a TON of power, and since I'm in Michigan where they don't do inspections or smog test, I took out the cat and opened up the piping from the headers back to 4in all the way back to some nice black stainless steel tips. Even though it made a ton more power with the tune, it actually started getting better fuel mileage at about 15-16mpg on the highway (compared to the 10-11) I was getting before 😍 plus the 4x4 works sooooooooo good everywhere I've been.

All I can say is Ford should bring this back!
Guess what? they are now!
My dad had a 2000 Ford Excursion limited v10 4x4 that he got from my uncle in the mid 2000's. We loved that thing mainly because it could haul anything we needed. Best example is camping it could fit all four of us comfortably, with room for a cooler between me and my brother, the dog had the back seat to himself, gear in the back and tow our 29ft camper without breaking a sweat. As well as fit 8 people comfortably for school carpools. Mainly its size and capability we loved as well as most people we talked to that owned them loved them for it's size too. Only issues were one alternator and brakes sticking (cheap reman calipers the cause). Only thing he wanted changed was the engine to the 7.3. Unfortunately living in the rust belt took it's toll and the fuel filler neck rotted out and when he couldn't find a replacement from a friend who worked at a ford dealer he fixed it with some rubber tube and sold it. Crazy thing was with 120k, good maintenance but the big rust issue listed at 4,900 we had 12 offers in a day he could have gone to 5,500 and sold it. If not for the rust he would still probably have it and never sold it ever. If I ever had the cash to buy a good rust free one I would do it in a heartbeat. If ford ever made a new one he might buy it but he kinda lost ford after they came out with all their ecoboost stuff and other things he didn't like.
Side notes: The tranny was good but the weak link in them was the torque converter. The tranny shop he had it serviced at informed about this which would show up if people would frequently haul heavy loads. Also a company rebuilds them because people love them so much.
www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/ford/2019/04/30/ford-excursion-cult-refuses-to-let-excessive-suv-go-extinct/3573249002/
Lastly time magazine called it one of the worst 50 vehicles of all time mainly due to bad mileage, it's size, and because soccer mom's couldn't drive it due to it's size. Which is kind of stupid because 1 what suv in the early to mid 2000's didn't get bad mileage Ie suburbans, hummers, etc. 2 peoples inability to drive doesn't reflect a vehicle. And 3 it's size is what makes it so great because it could do it all and have zero issues doing it. (They obviously drove one and never used it to it's full potential)

Great giving kudos to Ford for improving the engine...except the 7.3 wasn't a Ford engine...it was a Navistar T444E, straight out of your local school buses and other medium-duty trucks.

Definitely a work truck that can be worked hard. Don't understand why anyone would want one as a daily pleasure driver, but some do. I wasn't aware that Excursion had rear "Dutch Doors". Fantastic if you find yourself working out of the back of your truck. Nobody has put those on a vehicle since the GM Astros and Sarfaris were discontinued in 2005.
After driving crew longbed duallies and F-250s, the Excursion is comfortable. I love the huge fuel tank and the cargo room. Great vehicle to sleep in. I wouldn't mind having one with a bulletproofed 6.0.

It has its fair shair of "shortcoming" from factory like there isn't any sway bar in the rear, soft leaf springs in front, transmission are a weak link when towing at its max and the HEUI injection system if not maintained properly ( 5000 miles oil changes) could take out your injectors ($ 1600 - 3200 plus ) They are easy to get close to 500 horse with injectors, intake, turbo, tune, fuel and exhaust. 2000 models have forged rods and 2001 have PMR- rods, You can remove the plug close the oilcooler and have the engine guts inspected to see what rods you have or you can look up the engine number in order to tell.
They are loud, especially the seven3 is loud and if you are running bigger injectors like single shots - its louder than loud. Fuel economy is greate compared to weight and size.
Mine are getting 19-21mpg highway and everything between 12mpg and upwards depending load and fun factor. Fun factor in a Excursion you say - well mine is fun. Its fun when you are at the hardware picking up five 120mm X 240mm wood or plasterboard and they ask if you need to use they're trailer....and you just open its guts up from behind and start loading :-)
This vehicle only have two enemies - rust and government. Both trying they're best to shut it down.
If you are into a fair review - have a look at Daniel Jaegers "300,000 Mile 7.3 Excursion Review". It gives a decent picture of what theese vehicles are capable of.
That Rug really ties the room together. :P
Lol
That's a hand knotted rug it doesnt belong in a garage like that :(
@Mark Morrissey Maybe Hoovie can find a Lebowski in the phone book and get another one.
I’ve been waiting for the Excursion to catch your eye Hoovie. I’ve owned my 7.3 Excursion SuperDuty for over a decade. Little over 400,000 on the clock. Doing a turbo swap on it as it’s still more valuable than my other cars combined lol.
How much for a turbo swap? I own 4, 7.3l F350.
@@JTBCOOL1 GT38, or wicked wheel upgrade, or do something custom. I'm going custom: polished and upgraded Garrett. Best part is you don't need a massive lift, just a step ladder to get yourself up on top of the motor, the swap is doable yourself. Unhook the Y-pipe/splitter and get the turbo free of the pedestal and inlet/outlet. Replace the seals and pop the swap on. Easy like pie. Easier if you have two people to remove the hood for better access.
You should do a vlog about your truck Jeremy. I get excited every time I see one of these Excursions on the road. Surprisingly there are still quite a few of these on the road here in Texas. I see a few every week. I’m glad people still appreciate these awesome rigs. It’s like the big boss daddy of SUVs.
I had a 2000 with the V10. 13 mpg all the time. Seemed like it was modeled on the 350 1 ton chassis. No plug trouble. You need to have your front end checked. They steer better than that. It need that power cover to keep Pepsi out when you use cupholder.
I had the first Super Duty in 99, which I purchased summer of 98 and had that engine. And I was the only one in Connecticut with it for a few months. I couldn't believe the power it had and it sounded like a jetliner going down the road with the turbo. Pressed up against the firewall., Used to say that vehicle lasted me. 450k MI and 9 wonderful years. I sure do miss it.
I just saw one of these on my way home and thought “hoovie would like this”
Zac Larkby great playlists bro!
And him buying one just made the value of mine just go up!!! Thanks Hoovie!
I just love the sound of the 7.3
What about the 1.5? czcams.com/video/JzB1i_LQBjE/video.html
Great video. So fun! I always lusted after the Excursion, however impractical.
The 7.3 PS is very simple to work on if you have a rare occasion of needing work. The vacuum hubs suck, but will eventually fail. Get into the habit of turning the manual knob to lock and free every few months to be sure you can still get 4wd when the vacuum system leaks.
