    Great video. I've really been looking at the Brio as an option lately with some gift cards I got. I like how you showed off the different modes and even how they looked in different formats, like the Yuy2, haven't seen that done across several other videos. Brio's really an impressive piece of hardware for its age.
    Just one question, since you mentioned OBS and I use that. You mentioned not playing with the sharpness slider a bit before settling for 170 in this video. Are your settings otherwise the same as from your indepth review of the Brio almost a year ago? Since whatever settings you used made that thing look CRISP and definitely wanna try them if I get the Brio myself.

    Brio looks amazing in 4K tweaked but once you drop it to 1080p 60fps which many streamers use, it loses so much detail vs the Facecam. The Elgato Facecam may not be the best looking but it is more geared towards streamers especially when you factor in that it actually saves your settings when using OBS. I have a Spedal webcam (1080p 60fps) and it only does 60fps if the right settings are met and sometimes that doesn't work and my custom settings for the Spedal webcam resets every time I exit OBS. This is why I feel the Facecam is more for me despite being blown away by the Brio's beautiful 4K quality.

    Hi there!! I'm a new subscriber. I absolute LOVE your videos because they go into depth about these webcams I'm interested in buying!! I'm very interested in the Logitech Brio but I was concerned about two things so I thought I'd ask! For one thing, I want to use a webcam for content creation on CZcams and streaming on Twitch, would Brio be a good option for that? And if so, would it have terrible lag? I have read some reviews (not a lot) that have said the webcam had bad lag but I trust your opinion to be sure! My second question was where did you get both your Brio webcams from? I saw they were on Amazon, Best Buy, and the Logitech website but wasn't sure where to look. If you have the time, your reply would be super appreciated! ❤

    • @BadIntentStreamTechReviews
      @BadIntentStreamTechReviews Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks, and sure. For the first question yes the Brio is a great option to get started. Most of the videos on this channel were made on the Brio and the better I got with settings, lighting, and framing the better I was able to make the videos. I used to stream on Twitch with the Brio also, but haven't streamed in a long time.
      As for the lag, it seems to depend on your computer. My desktop which is pretty strong (Ryzen 5, 3600 with an RX 5700) causes all webcams to lag by about 150 ms. Even just the C920. On my basically broken laptop (i5 6300U, GTX 960M), there's no delay at all. So basically it depends on your computer, but even if you have a bit of lag you can set an audio offset in OBS. I would just say the stronger your computer the better, because adding a slight audio delay is easy but if your computer struggles with 4K video, you can't use the Brio to its full potential.
      And I bought both of my Brios from Amazon. If you get it at Best Buy it might be called something like the Logitech 4K Pro Webcam or something - they keep rebranding the name.

    • @AllThisDebree
      @AllThisDebree Před 2 lety

      @@BadIntentStreamTechReviews You are awesome!! This is amazing information. Thank you so much for sharing your own personal experience with both your desktop and your laptop with their specs!! That makes perfect sense that the lag would depend on the computer you have. I’m new to OBS and briefly heard about inserting a slight audio delay. That’s a super good idea! I’m not entirely sure if my laptop would or wouldn’t be compatible with the cam’s 4K even though it is a strong one.
      You’re absolutely right about the weird name change for Best Buy. 😂 Literally the one difference between the two that I saw were the MP. It was like 13 MP vs 8.5 on Amazon’s version.
      Anyways, thank you so much for your help. I was battling for hours on which webcam would be best to start with before upgrading to a DSLR in the future. Your videos helped me out more than anyone else! Along top your amazing in-depth reply! Thank you again!! 😄 I’ll try and shoot for the Brio!

    The Elgato Facecam seems in both videos like it's making the person stand out from the background. Other cams are flat, the Facecam I immediately id the person as sitting in front of the background.

    • @BadIntentStreamTechReviews
      @BadIntentStreamTechReviews Před 2 lety +3

      Well the Facecam definitely doesn't have shallow depth of field, so it's not superior optics.
      I think there are two factors here. First, the overall sharpness is so low that the background is blurry by default.
      Second, since it's fixed focus anything outside of 12-47 inches will always look out of focus.

    • @ghostbond1074

      This doesn't add up. Did you get the Kiyo or Kiyo Pro? The Kiyo Pro came out in February of 2021. And the Kiyo Pro immediately prompts you to install Razer Synapse as soon as you connect it.

    • @TroyHallBear
      @TroyHallBear Před 2 lety

      @@BadIntentStreamTechReviews I bought the pro. I'm talking to tech support about it but I'm very disappointed. All the synapse software does is allow you to control the camera. It DOESN"T provide the ability to actually make images. Using the windows "camera" software changes the settings dramatically so synapse then no longer maintains its old settings. As an experienced user not having the ability to actually take an image isn't a HUGE deal because we know about obs, xplit, etc.. for the average joe its a major issue.
      The worst thing is the fact that it won't retain it's settings. imo thats a show stopper. Just made a short "RAW" video showing the issues.. czcams.com/video/Mzba7MkB82w/video.html

    • @BadIntentStreamTechReviews
      @BadIntentStreamTechReviews Před 2 lety

      @@TroyHallBear Ok, there are few things going on here that are related, but I'll cover each in a bullet point.
      - Saving images with native software. It's true that Razer Synapse doesn't actually record images or video. I don't think that's a bad thing, but I can understand not liking it. Logitech has Logi Capture which can record video, but it has a pretty bad default image filter and you can't control the exposure, gain, video format, and some resolution settings. Because I'm so used to OBS, and most people who stream on Twitch, CZcams, or other services use OBS I didn't think it would be problematic for anyone. Especially because it only takes a few minutes to set up.
      - Webcam forgetting settings when using Windows Camera App. One of the main reasons I never use the Windows camera app is for that reason. It (and most programs that get direct access to your webcam like Zoom, Teams, Skype) forcefully reverts your webcam into its fully automatic settings. I have a few videos talking about this but tl;dr it's not the webcam forgetting the settings. It's the windows camera app forcing them to default. This happens to the Brio, C920, and every other webcam I have.
      - Field of view and Synapse settings vs advanced settings. Specifically in your example, the video went from being zoomed in to wide with a fisheye effect. Here's what's going on:
      Synapse really can only do 2 things. First it can let you control the advanced settings like you showed. Those stick with the camera after you click apply and exit out of Synapse entirely. You have to close it from the task bar also to fully close it. That's not very useful since you can do that in OBS anyway but it's there.
      Secondly, it can control a couple Synapse specific settings which are HDR and field of view. By default with Synapse never opened or installed, the device will be on "narrow" and HDR off. If you change them or if they're changed for whatever reason, Synapse will enforce those settings as long as it's open or until you unplug and replug your device with Synapse closed. I don't find either of these settings worth changing either but that will help explain the last point.
      - Summary of what's happening. At 1:08 it shows the camera zoomed in (advanced setting) while the field of view is set to wide (Synapse specific setting). When you switched to the Windows camera app, it completely tossed the zoom and every other advanced setting and it's just left with the Synapse specific settings which are HDR on and wide FOV which causes the fisheye. When you go back to Synapse, it's still on the wide FOV with HDR on, but the advanced settings have been overwritten. OBS won't do this, but most other software will.
      If you still don't like the webcam, that's understandable but I just wanted to emphasize that the Windows camera app is causing the settings to revert, not the webcam forgetting. I've even changed my Kiyo Pro's advanced settings on my desktop and it kept the same settings even on my laptop and I've never installed Synapse to my laptop. It's flash memory.
      Also as a workaround for non-OBS software, I use OBS virtual camera. This lets you use the webcam with all your custom settings in Zoom, Windows camera app, or anything else without them getting erased or overwritten.

      @@BadIntentStreamTechReviews great write up. As you stated, any streamer should find the cam very nice. OBS is almost a must have if your going to do anything like that. For me, in my training & review videos, its mandatory. I've never used obs virtual camera. I'll have to check it out. I hope our discussion helps others.
