  • Join us at Bluegrass International as Kyle Koeberlein, one of our resident expert, unveils the must-know features of the cutting-edge International Trucks S13 Integrated Powertrain. In this exclusive video, Kyle breaks down his top five favorite elements that make this powertrain a game-changer in the industry.
    1. No EGR Cooler: Say goodbye to the complexities and maintenance headaches associated with EGR coolers. Kyle explains why the absence of an EGR cooler is a significant advantage for efficiency and reliability.
    2. Fixed Geometry Turbo: Discover how the Fixed Geometry Turbo enhances simplicity, providing a seamless driving experience on the road.
    3. Superior Serviceability: Kyle highlights the ease of maintenance and serviceability of the S13 Integrated Powertrain, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity for truck operators.
    4. Fuel Economy: Learn how this powertrain optimizes fuel consumption, helping businesses save on operating costs without compromising performance.
    5. No Diesel Oxidation Catalyst or 7th Injector: Not having a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and 7th injector on a diesel engine can be beneficial for several reasons. Firstly, it simplifies the engine's design and reduces potential points of failure, leading to enhanced reliability and lower maintenance costs. Secondly, without these components, there's less complexity in the emissions control system, resulting in improved engine efficiency and potentially better fuel economy.
Don't miss out on this insightful discussion with Kyle Koeberlein as he shares his expertise on the International Trucks S13 Integrated Powertrain. Hit play now and stay ahead of the curve in the world of trucking technology!

Seems like a fantastic engine without some of the components that fail on other engines. I’ll be super interested to see what drivers and mechanics say about this engine once it gets some miles on it in the field.

Thank you for your comment! Our technicians at Bluegrass are impressed with the design after completing certification training. This engine has undergone extensive testing, accumulating over 2 billion miles in Europe over the past two years. It's a collaborative effort between Scania, Mann, and International to develop a globally leading engine.

So, is the egr valve still there to dump soot back in the engine or where does exhaust gas go?

    • @kylekoeberlein

The purpose of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve is to recirculate exhaust gases back to the engine's cylinders, helping to increase the engine temperature. Unlike systems equipped with an EGR cooler designed to reduce temperature, our system aims to maintain the engine at approximately 600 degrees. The primary function of the EGR is during startup, facilitating a quicker reach to the operating temperature. This process effectively reduces soot production while increasing NOx emissions, which are subsequently managed by the aftertreatment system.

    That’s Scania engine
    International did nothing
They have no competency except putting their logo and doing marketing saying that they did create this engine
But the way hydraulic retarder not available as in Europe with same Scania power train
    Pay more to get less

We understand your concerns, but it's worth noting that both International and Scania are under the TRATON umbrella of companies. This means they benefit from shared technology and expertise. The goal is to create a globally superior engine by leveraging strengths from both brands. The collaboration is aimed at bringing the best possible performance and innovation to the market.
