    I’ve recently gotten really into decorating cookies and now I’m selling them! These were great tips to help perfect my technique, but I’m wondering if you use two separate bags for outlining and flooding? I know it’s possible to use the same bag, you just make it look so easy!

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  Před 3 lety +2

      That's great, congratulations! I started out using only 1 consistency but I feel like I can move faster with 2 consistencies, 1 for outline and 1 for flood. I dont have to worry about getting the perfect consistency and don't have to worry about icing falling over the sides. So I almost always use 2 consistencies.

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  Před 2 lety

      Thank you!! This is really how I decorate haha! I know it seems slow but its a pretty normal speed. If I do the same design on a dozen or 2 dozen cookies then the first few are slow and then they speed up a tiny bit because I get used to the design but I cannot pipe fast like what you see on social media. Those are always sped up! There are ways to make it more efficient when doing lots of cookies, like flooding all of them at once on a tray at a time etc but you get faster with practice as well!

    Terrific video ! I have a question about dry time without a hydrator ... how long do you let the cookies dry before sealing them in a bag ... is 6-7 hours ok or overnight ? Also if leaving them out overnight to dry will they get stale or go you cover them for the night ? ... thanks for any advice

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  Před 3 lety

      Thank you! I always let mine dry overnight before bagging them. And I only use the dehydrator to dry them enough for the next step or crust over, but once I'm done for the night I'll leave them on the counter until morning. Make sure you don't cover them or they won't dry properly and can make the icing wrinkly. It won't dry out your cookies or go stale! I find the icing helps keep the cookies fresh, like a layer of protection!

    Hello, I’m new to cookie decorating. I absolutely like the way you instruct. I noticed you mentioned using a few different tools for the cookies such as a projector and a dehydrator. Can you tell me which brands I should buy and where I may be able to find them?

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  Před 3 lety

      I personally use a Cabela's 10 tray dehydrator and like it because it has a lot of space and temperature control which is probably the most important in a dehydrator because you don't want it too warm. For projectors I've heard great things about this one (mine is not very good and has lots of problems)

    I have been obsessed with your videos. And both your cookie and icing recipe is PERFECTION. I struggle SO much with icing consistency though. Do you think it’s due to not having a stand mixer? I’m very new to baking and only have a hand held mixer. I’m able to make cookies but they don’t come as good.

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  Před 2 lety +1

      Awwww thank you! A stand mixer helps (and kudos to you for making cookies and icing with a hand held mixer, thats amazing) BUT it's not necessary! Consistency is the hardest part of cookie decorating, and I don't think having a stand mixer is the issue. Its more knowing what works best for you and practicing. If you find your icing is too loose when decorating then you can always put it back in a bowl and add some more icing sugar and stir it in. Same if its too thick, you can add some more water. If your icing is not settling smooth then means you need a touch more water and if its really watery so when you pipe it jsut puddles and spreads out its too thin. I still get it wrong sometimes, but the more you do it, the better you'll get! I promise it will get easier!

      @@LittleCookieCo thank you SO MUCH for replying!! I’m still trying to figure my method of doing things as well because my kitchen always looks like a tornado went through it when it’s decorating time! Hahah. Another question I had was about outlining. How do you get your outline to disappear once you flood your cookie but also not putting so much that it drips all over the place? That happened to me twice yesterday AND I popped two piping bags. It was a hard cookie day. Lol but I’m so eager to keep practicing and get better at it. Even with all the things that go wrong

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  Před 2 lety +1

      Trust me when I say we can all relate 😂 no matter how organized I tru to be when I start, its always a disaster by the end! I used to decorate at night after everyone was in bed so at least I had the whole kitchen to myself and then id clean up before I finished except for the dozens of cookies laid out to dry! It still happens to me occasionally where I flood too much and it flows over. Usually when that happens means my outline was not thick enough or my flood may be too loose. So I'll cut a bigger hole in my bag for my outline so it comes out as a thicker line. I also like to let my outline dry a touch, so ill outline all my cookies ans by the time I get to the first its dry. I feel like it holds the icing in a bit better. And I'll try and find the video on how I try and hide my outline. I try to pipe half over the outline so its not so noticeable. You can also take the scribe and pull the icing over the outline a touch as well. Here's a video to show how I do it m.czcams.com/video/HIYEAOa3ry4/video.html

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  Před 3 lety +1

      Not at all! Mine is on low heat around 85°F so its not too hot and I find the icing acts like a seal on top of the cookie so it doesn't dry out.

    Hello!! I have a question, can you dehydrate the icing in a air fryer? Or how many time do i have to wait if i don't have a dehydrator?

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  Před 3 lety +1

      I have never heard anyone doing it in the air fryer, I'm not really familiar them so not sure how low the temperature goes. When you'd dry them in a dehydrator you keep it on a low heat so about 85/90°F. You could also put a fan near your cookies to help dry them faster but it will still take hours. Or you can leave them on the counter and usually take about 6-8 hours to dry

  • @laurenday3267
    @laurenday3267 Před 3 lety

    I'm also wondering why you didn't need to add stiff icing under the heart flood? How do you know if it will crater?

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  Před 3 lety +1

      I forgot 🤣🤦‍♀️ I never know if it will crater but if my icing is on the thinner side then I take those measures as a just in case precaution. I'd rather do it and have no craters than not and maybe have one. It's not fool proof either but it helps a lot I find!

    • @LittleCookieCo

      Yes! You definitely can! Make sure they icing is fully dry, place them in an airtight container and the most important thing is that when you take them out of the freezer , do not open the container until they're full defrosted at room temp! If you open it whole they're still frozen or cold then it causes condensation and can mess up the icing.
