the way it feels like they want him to fail is crazy
I caught the bend of the interview & had to double-check I was hearing everything right. There's been a vibe shift on the show. I figured it would get worse after Bully's Mania payday + Mark leaving AEW. But this was an attempted hit piece, and they continued to bury the product after Swerve hung up. It was weird and unwarranted and felt premeditated.

One thing i think they should play into more with Swerves character is that all of his greatest enemies are also his strongest allies. Keith Lee, hangman, ospreay, darby. He goes to war with them but there's a cool underlying respect that his opponents all have for him
💯🎯.. Baby face vs heel works. I'm not denying that whatsoever. However, & it's just my opinion, but some of the most interesting matches & matches I'm most invested in as the bell rings are when two baby faces or even tweeners can just put on a show for us minus the "good vs bad" element.
The way bully acted in this is exactly the reason I can’t listen anymore, which is a shame. Swerve handled the interview great.
The thing is, Bully tries to cater to an audience that b*tches and complains about everything all the time so he tries to be controversial and ask questions for that fan base but Swerve wasn't having it. The episode prior to this: "Why is the champion wrestling on free TV??? Why does Swerve have a match?? Why aren't they holding back to build him up as a big deal?"

Swerve was 100% right to pinpoint the AEW don't use the "PLE" term, and it's laughable to see Bully acting pissed about it. "Call it whatever you want" is a response that oozes with bitterness and you can see it on screen, which is only made 10x funnier by Mark's inability to contain his smile.
With that out of the way, I loved the confidence that Swerve is speaking with. He acknowledged the few things he wished were handled better at the start of his title reign, while also highlighting the good things that have happened along the way. I believe him as a champion after this interview, regardless of what happens next. I'm confident his reign will continue past Forbidden Door, and that's how it should be unless Tony Khan makes the worst booking decision in 2024.

It’s wild how Bully Ray is way passed his prime/wrestling days and he really should be supportive of what AEW is doing - considering he did nearly everything AEW is doing back in his indie and ECW days. He being toxic is adding to the way “wrestling” fans are in the IWC. You can tell he didn’t want to interview Swerve and you can tell he’s not accepting anything being said. These are obvious. I’m ashamed of being a part of the IWC because we all should be in support of one another. Whether you like AEW or not, you can’t deny Swerve is a great champion, Ospraey is an excellent wrestler as well as MJF, just based on his mix skills alone. AEW isn’t perfect, neither is WWE. We should all be happy pro wrestling is great again.

Swerve just exposed the bad faith criticism about his title reign. We get it, AEW is just not as hot as WWE. But that doesn't mean that everything AEW is doing is bad, and there's just too much nit-picking, some of it even contradictory. Swerve did a great job answering some of that bad faith criticism directly without getting angry or defensive.
He did an amazing job, and seeing Bully so rattled at his answers made me smile so hard. Like, atta boy Swerve!

Swerve, is a great wrestler and champion so far. He’s a fighting champion, and I always thought that he’ll be the first black AEW champion, he looks like a champion and he fights as a champion! So he’s the real deal. Also I like scorpion sky is another to me, he’s a champion material! Should be the next black wrestler in line for the AEW championship.
Honestly I really thought Scorpio Sky was gonna be the first champ but I like Swerve too and he deserves it.
They tried so hard to bait him into criticizing Tony Khan for the way he has been featured but Swerve was ready for their bad faith criticism and handled himself like a pro. Bully is a pro. He is taking this seriously. The way Swerve has been booked as champion has been something close to criminal malpractice. Bully and the guys are doing their best to showcase Swerve here and help the situation.

Bubba/ Bully is miserable with himself because he doesn’t feel comfortable in his own skin. I feel sorry for the dude. He has a guy like Swerve who’s had a CRAZY last 2 years to say the least, been everywhere from tag team gold, to Wembley vs Sting and Darby to an amazing continental classic performance, to amazing matches with hangman and eventually turning face and winning the gold, to having an upcoming ppv match with Ospreay and his first question to this champion and fine performer is about booking. he’s the type of guy where the sun is out and he’d complain for it burning his eyes.
He has just that tlc match in his career. But still he lost in that too. 😂😂😂

Been a fan of Swerve since his Killshot days in Lucha Underground.
I didnt get Swerve at first some people would overhype him and it be like "ok cool? Good wrestler what else you got? Theres plenty of good wrestlers but the character?"
But now with the Nick Wayne then Hangman he really made himself and someone to root for, really earned that championship, nothing but respect.
For me, when he was with Keith Lee. His character wasn't really showing but his in ring stuff is what made him stand out.
But I always knew he had it in him ever since I watched his feud with Dante Fox/AR Fox in Lucha Underground when he was Killshot.

Swerve is the only person to have ever held both the MLW World Championship & AEW World Championship. He was also MLW's first world champion under the reboot & AEW's first ever african american world champion. Both Court Bauer (MLW owner) & Tony Khan knew Swerve is world championship material. Crazy how both him & MJF are bigtime main event stars for a big pro wrestling promotion. I've liked thr both of them in MLW, but never in a million years would I ever imagine both being big time this fast.
I'd be mad as hell if they were already planning to take the world title off Swerve just to toss it on Ospreay.

Ospreay is gonna lose to Swerve both due to not being able to hit the Tiger Driver on him AND Don Callis betrays him with the same Screwdriver Callis gave him to win against Omega the year prior.
Then both Danielson and Ospreay will be the final 2 in the Owen Hart Tournament, where Will wins and Danielson will do a promo afterwards revealing that the Tiger Driver from Dynasty didn't actually hurt him as badly as Ospreay thought & Danielson only did that to play mindgames with Will.
Which Bryan will give Ospreay his blessing to use the Tiger Driver at All In against Swerve, and Ospreay becomes World Champion.

How often do you watch AEW? This past PPV Swerve/Cage match concluded a story that went back at least a year, and there was a lot of buildup to the PPV. It was a nasty, bloody feud.
Sooooo you want EVERYBODY to do exactly what MJF does? If Swerve did that, then how would that make Swerve stand out? Now he should maybe talk more on the shows, but so far he's been getting several Promo packages, being mentioned throughout the show, and he did Main Event last night's show so it ain't exactly like Hangman Page's reign where all he did was open the show.

Swerve has hip hop connections(Rick Ross) and is aligned with TMT. He literally said he brings a new light to the product in this interview bruv.
