I’m going to comment as I watch this time.
1:07 - AI and art. “Let me have the ability to steal from every single artist…” - that’s what human artists do too. Ask Picasso who apparently said “good artists borrow, great artists steal.” (Although ironically, apparently that idea was not his originally…)
All art is built on the shoulders of those who went before. No artist can avoid being influenced by and inspired by what they have experienced and learned and studied. What AI does is democratise that - just as photography democratises the ability to be able to look at a scene and render an image of it (which used to be the domain of painters only), so AI allows people to create imagination into a representation. BUT I argue that all art is about moments of decision - and while humans are involved in the creative process, there are still artistic moments of decision when using AI as a creative tool.
I learned of the idea of moments of decision studying early photography. Now I’m terrible with names but an early photographer talked about it - how with photography, there’s the decision what camera to use, what film to use, where to point the camera, what settings to use, when to press the shutter, and then in processing you have how to expose the negative, how to crop it, how to present it, IF you present it etc. Those are all moments of decision that contribute to the art of photography - but particularly that moment of deciding which photos to hold up to an audience and say “this one! Look at this one”. Because that’s the moment when the artist decides that image captures something they want to convey to the audience.
Now with AI, we have the choice of what to ask the AI to do, we have all sorts of inputs into what we give it as source material, then we have the choice to use what comes out or try again etc. There are still many moments of decision which I argue means it is still a form of art. Its a new form, and it’s as challenging to our understanding of what art is as photography was - and just as photography has not replaced painting, AI generated art won’t replace other art - BUT we do need to learn how it will change the landscape for art.
The biggest danger for me is that AI might stifle innovation - unless we have new art being created, it can only produce things drawing on what it has been trained on. TRUE innovation is beyond at least the current generation of AI - the kind of genius which feels like it has come from nowhere is impossible with AI as it currently works.
Anyhow - enough - onto the actual video ;)

10:22 - yes, Ren has a consistent view on consumerism/greed - running through Money Game you’ve already heard, but also many other tracks…and I think that is a message many many people recognise the truth of.

11:54 - I love this profound reaction and insight. Your comment that “we share nothing …etc” is extremely deep and intelligent especially given you drew that thought so quickly after listening to the track. I’m impressed :)

I loved Gypsy’s enthusiasm and passion for Ren…but can we keep the guy in the black baseball cap for Ren reactions as he’s very sharp and goes deep into the meaning really articulately. Maybe have 3 hoodies?

Yes, capitalism has been extremely effective - BUT, unfettered capitalism is the issue. And it shouldn’t be a surprise that we are seeing the issues with it as Marx worked out what the inevitable consequence of unfettered capitalism would be over 100 years ago.
We know social democracies based on capitalism also work - and they address the issues of capitalism going off the rails. And if you stop seeing GDP as the altar at which human happiness can be sacrificed, and instead prioritise human happiness as the aim of a well functioning society, the it is social democracies that lead the way. When you study which countries have the happiest citizens, social democracies are way ahead, while unfettered capitalist experiment in America lags WAY behind.

One great thing about REN is he is extremely good at starting conversations, and this world definitely needs more respectful conversations. This is one of my favourite tracks on the album for sure 🔥🖤

Yes it's Welsh not gaelic. Welsh is a Brittonic language same as Cornwall. The translation is:-
"Illness is my teacher. It broke my smile. My bones feel old. Here lies the body of Ren"

Just the kind of a conversation the world needs now, guys.
I listen to ppl arguing if capitalism is better or worse than socialism, and I'm like: why assume those 2 are the only options? (not advocating for digital feudalism, here lol) I'm convinced humans could come up with a more successful model, if we tried. Just... nobody seems to be interested in putting any serious thought into it. How can we make it work?
And, yeah, to answer your question: at the beginning Ren does that eulogy-piece in Welsh...

You guys really got the overall message of this song. It takes many listens to absorb it all. Ren has spoken about the benefits in capitalism, socialism and even communism as well as the negatives of what they all bring. Balance is something the uber rich & powerful don't want us to have as it doesn't benefit them.

great reaction and conversation!! i think this is exactly what ren wants his music to do is to get people talking!! you really got to check out his EDEN video. it was made just before the Money Game 3 release following a week of 7 sins challenges to win money (he did that to prove that we are all guilty of committing all of the 7 sins...), anyway the Eden video covers a lot about rens faith and vision/direction i think you would both like it! you got a new sub from me

“In God we trust”,…. is a direct reference to the motto on US$ money. ”God tied a nose….” I think is a reference to humanities self destruction due to greed. (We are made in Gods image)

There are so many smart people with different learning styles that get left behind from public education which is a travesty, not only in America but around the world. Maximize emotional intelligence and make education work for everyone. Our species has so much more potential and the conversations that Ren's music spark is something the world needs right now.
Great conversation, keep it going 🤙

Fun facts - The prevailing theory is that the Celtic languages on the islands of Great Britain and Ireland descend from a common ancestral Celtic language known as Insular Celtic. The Brittonic (Brythonic) subdivision of Insular Celtic includes Welsh, Cornish, and Breton. The Gaelic (Goidelic) subdivision of Insular Celtic descends from Old Irish, and it includes Irish, Manx, and Scottish Gaelic. The Continental Celtic languages in mainland Europe all went extinct centuries ago, including Lepontic, Gaulish, Galatian, Noric, Celtiberian, and Gallaecian.

There are some faint echoes of the lost languages. For example, the numbers from one to 10 in Welsh and French are similar apart from 4 & 5, which reflect the difference between P Celt and Q Celt. In Welsh four and five are pedwar and pump (pronounced pimp) reflecting the P Celt approach to the kw sound, but in French they are quatre and cinq, which seems to reflect Q Celt.

When you mentioned the left-and-right cooperation or collaboration (paraphrased), that's something that I've been leaning toward more and more as time goes on. Balance, as you said. Especially in the face of all the division and violence we're facing throughout the world. And it's something that Ren has addressed directly in interviews, Twitch talks, and in a speech that he wrote for his intermission in his 360-degree live performance of the Tale of Jenny and Screech. He even used that as a central idea in his Money Game 3/Seven Sins interactive treasure hunt game, toward the end of last year. In order to advance in the game, all players had to communicate with each other, do online research (searches), and rely on each others' expertise in order to crack complex puzzles and codes. An amazing and mind-blowing experience. At the very end of the game, Ren presented all the players with an interesting video called Eden, which a lot of reactors have reacted to, sparking more conversations and debate. And giving more insight about Ren's thinking in regard to religion and solving world problems. I thought your reaction and conversation at the end of Seven Sins was great and thought-provoking as well. Subbed! 🤠

Welsh language Ren wrote his own Euligy. That last line here lies the body of Ren
Welsh I have read is the oldest celtic language still spoken.
In an interview (no idea which one, he jas done many). Ren says he had no intetest in English, until he found it had so much to offer in similies and metafors ect. Which expanded his lyrical menu

For REN, this was truly his reality. Ren had misdiagnosed Lyme disease for 7 years by conventional doctors who deemed him mentally ill, but when patients are experiencing neurological symptoms, they very often become misdiagnosed. Lyme disease can present itself as many neurological conditions including Acute Transverse Myelitis[3], Ptosis[4], Seizures, and Chronic Fatigue[1] and these symptoms can be often misdiagnosed or deemed psychosomatic. Second is dealing with the symptoms of Lyme neuroborreliosis, these neurological symptoms often leave patients feeling drained and debilitated as they begin losing their quality of life. Over time, patients find themselves unable to do the things they love as they struggle to get ahead of their progressing symptoms.
