Playing my first US Challenger Cup with Branded (and Snake-Eye) | Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.

- Hai. I played one of the new US Challenger Cups. It was pretty fun to play since ive been away from these tournaments for a little while. I brought my regular deck choice of branded, and played a few games of snake in the top cut.

You can join the challenger cup tournaments from this discord server. Each tournament will have its own server, but this is the hub where they will all originally be posted. Keep in mind that you do need to live in the US to receive prizing. - / discord
The challenger cup tournaments allow players to swap decks between rounds, even between games of a best of 3 match. So very often i am playing slightly different versions of my decks to adapt to my opponents.
The music is all original soundtracks from the Touhou game series. I just like the music, it's very cool.

Seriously you’re amazing 🎉. At the first matches were INSANE. I’m literally playing in repeat just to see the lines you’re gotten.
!🤯 I’m pretty bad at seeing lines all the time…. The timer goes HURRY UP when I’m trying cause I’m slow😅. GG and good luck in your matches ❤. Also, isn’t 3 nebs a brick. I keep having it in my hand first never second when needed…
3 nibs is a brick yeah. nibiru isnt ideal when its the only handtrap because decks set up a way to beat it when they are performing their normal uninterrupted combos. I dont think spoly is amazing right now so i just wanted to try different things. my challenger cup lists are not normally final lists, they are just experiments for me.
I got my rescue rabbit in one of these!! Unfortunstely I can only make like one of them this month since I work night shift
Same list as mine, minus the handtraps, i prefer boardbreakers. But what about Nadir? And the Synchro variant with Dis Pater?

What are your thoughts thoughts on alba. I know the extra deck is tight and pure dragon decks aren’t huge in the meta.
But I feel like alba is so valid me to out the snake eyes board. If you set an Albaz you can just contact fusion away flameberg. If you don’t interact with tren they have no idea you’re on branded. The field spell can only draw out one card. Meaning they can’t get flameberg back if they choose ip on your summon. Meaning no baronne if they have formula. Just one ip monster.
They get their resummons but then you can just beat over the apollo if need be.
And that’s just with one card in card. Establish your board main phase 2. Win turn 3 or 4 on disruption and recursion.
Thoughts?
its nice to out snake eyes. the issue is that normal summon albaz, or fusion deploy for albaz just to go for lentaus gets you nothing. You still need an entire way to play the game on top of that. Since you struggle to beat their followup up anyway its better to try and otk. mirrorjade is not scary for their turn 3. It sounds like a lame answer but the truth is snake eye is better than branded and when it goes first you dont have many options. otk with queritis and things like that is my fav strategy.

In your scenario of fusion deployment wouldn’t a fusion deployment for albaz be good too. Because it forces an interaction.
It’s highly dependent on timing. And it’s tipping your hand.
Assuming they have the god end board. Ip In spell. Formula under elf. Flameberg.
But if they don’t activate formula right away on fusion you have a window to contact fusion because they have no negates on board with turn priority. If they make barone while you active albaz then they activate formula then you can contact fuse with barone before it can negate.
If they make barone first you can either bait on the barone negate and play.
You don’t even have to activate albaz if they don’t chain formula. Then you can contact fuse for alba
Idk. I’ve won a lot of games like that. It’s really hard to crack that board regardless that’s why I’m asking someone who is a branded expert
Imo it makes even more sense if they have savage too.
Random question. Assuming you have despia Q on field. They negate something when Apollo. You then activate Q to drop attack to 0. Does that invalidate their Apolo negate since it no longer has at least 800 attack. If I remember right. The attack drop only triggers on resolution. Meaning it should fizzle the negate right ?
yeah queritis "negates" apolousa. You are right that lenatus is a tool that can help break snake boards. sometimes its good. but it is not the difference between being bad at going 2nd against snake and being good at it, you are still pretty bad no matter what. Branded always punishes bad play, but at the highest level its unlikely snake will not beat you after doing full combo.@@DrRobGilles

What do you think of the new Albaz fusion that just got announced?
If you refer the newly fusion that has 4,5k... I think, it doesnt do anything since the extra deck its pretty tight especially we dont need a beatstick because all of fusion monster has atk up to 2k to me it is enough... And we are usually need to keep albaz in the GY for rindbrumm effect or cartesia to summon it
its not terrible at being a nice push for game. getting 6 monsters into the graveyard is not that difficult, you often do it without trying. the 4500 being able to attack everything is exactly what lenatus failed to be. Theres 1 or 2 free spots in most branded extra decks that are up for debate what you can play in those spots, so i think ill be trying this at least.
any explanation on why cutting spoly and playin tax dragon?
superpoly doesnt seem that great right now. I wanted to try running just nibiru instead. Tax dragon is because the superpoly target doesnt need to be there anymore.

nooo. i promise its not even as good. i would play it if it was better trust. puppet lock is very all in, if the opponent can stop it with anything then you can be in a bad position. Its also possible to play against lab which is popular right now, and they can ignore the puppet. not to mention its a lame brick. I dont agree with playing it except for maybe the snake eye matchup. a side choice maybe.
