    From the StAC website:
Congratulations to our Pipe Band who have just been crowned world champions in the juvenile grade at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. A team of 40 students, tutors and support staff travelled to Scotland to compete in this event that draws 40,000 spectators, 8,000 pipers and drummers from all over the world. Pipe Band Director Richard Hawke knew the team was in a strong position but said that anything can happen on the day. The band performed at their very best against strong competition. Rector Christine Leighton said she was excited to hear the result very early this morning from Pipe Major Ben Murray who rang to tell her the good news. Six years ago the Pipe Band were third in the world and three years ago they were fifth. The Pipe Band lost their performance space after it suffered major damage in the 2011 earthquakes. Students and staff worked so hard to prepare for this competition and are thrilled to be world champions.
