Early military leadership was elite & coming from upper strata of society & Nehru's upbringing was in downtrodden family of Allahabad? What a narrative setting ? He hailed from affluent family & educated in UK much more wealthy than so called public school elite army chiefs.
My father the Late Lt Gen PS Bhagat has close connections with Nehru and Nehru did not want want an army only police. He actually asked my father when he was Director DMI, he asked my father when are you going to take over the country with Gen Thimayya-- read my book The Victoria Cross; a love story.
That is incredible. Nehru himself was a product of the British legacy.

Pakistan oriented towards chest thumping nationalism, aggression and expansionism. Today we can clearly see how both countries have constantly followed the same trajectory over 70 years.
Nehru was not a perfect leader, neither is Modi nor is anyone else. But history will judge Nehru more favourably than modern day brainwashed internet trolls.

Nehru was wary of British origin of the Indian army but he was perfectly fine with British origin of lady Mountbatten.😅

No idiot, he said that we must have maintained an army like Pakistan that trues to use all avenues to win a war, why you twisting his statement?. We win wars against Pakistan, but unlike other countries we are fools who lost territory - unlike any developed country- only because of incompetent Nehru who was a foolish dictator.
