A Quick review on the Vermeer BC600XL! This thing Demolished all of the limbs I put through it. Thanks for watching! For general or business inquiries E-mail: Mtheakston23@Gmail.com Hit Subscribe!
I’m a homeowner and had the bright idea of buying one of these to take care of my wooded 2 acre home. I bought in used then sold it for more than I paid for it. It had the same Koehler 27 but worked way better than what you showed here. Not sure why. It would eat a 6 inch log without stopping at all. No idea why. Nowhere to put it, so I had to sell it. Also lot of work dragging the wood to the chipper.
I actually bought mine from a Vermeer dealer- it came in off a trade, and they serviced it before they delivered it, so I'm sure the blades on mine had been sharpened. Thats definitely the answer. Thanks for the reply.
It would be good for everyone to know that the chipper knives on that unit were really dull. I have a Vermeer BC625 chipper and it chips much faster than that.
Rented this chipper w/ the 27 hp motor for the day($180 in Colorado Springs) to chip about 40-50 ponderosa tops and a bunch of slash. Mostly about 4-5” dia with a few pieces closer to 6”. Overall no problems...this thing worked great. You do have to limb the pieces a good bit, especially if it’s dry and stiff. If the limbs were still green, they would bend nicely and go right through.
We have one for our small chipper for our tree service and they are great units but that one seems like the belt is loose or over tight and dull blades thats why the auto feed kept coming on
If you get one I suggest using a proper sharpening service that uses CNC machines with coolant. The blades I have sharpened are mirror smooth and razor sharp. They will stay sharper longer due to edge integrity. Do not neglect sharpening the bed knife and setting the gap just right for the machine, it is crucial.
Is the feed rate adjustable? It seemed like it was feeding quickly, bogging down, stopping the feed, then repeating that patter over and over. It seemed like it little lower feed rate would have been better.
@@diastoleny so, do you just accumulate a bunch of shit and then do it all at once? I think you may have mentioned that in the vid, so ok. $200. Damn. just by typing $200, it gave me pause again. Damn, that is a lot of $$$. LOL. damn. I can't win! I think it is impossible to win at this thing we call life. Damn. In the end, we all lose the game on staying alvie, since we all die. Damn! this sucks!!! Damn. (I didn't even expect that this discussion would have turned so philosophical . . . but since life fvks us so hard at every turn, even a simple discussion on wood reminds us of this unpleasantness. Life literally svcks a$$.) damn.
sounds good to me . . . at what point, though, do you load the revolver while sitting there by the fire? Seems like an appropriate time to end it all, if life is truly that suxors. damn.
Lol! every time I think about buying a small chipper like this I just get on CZcams to remind myself why not to. Get a bigger one if ya do decide to buy.
I do not want any thing that cannot keep up with me. It is really nice when you can throw one big branch onto another and keep piggy backing them in or put a big arm load of brush on top of a branch as it is going in. You will find it much easier to justify the expense with the higher productivity.
@@MichaelTheakston Yeah, I don't know what size branch it is but at some point they take up more room in the truck than if you just through a log in. It just depends on your niche and the size of your crew. You don't want to worry about how much room your using in an 18 foot dump with 6 guys on the payroll moving stuff like army ants. On crane jobs I like to have an 18" chipper, semi trailer and or dumpsters line up in a row.
I get it buddy you're doing review on the chipper and you want to chip some brushI could put all that brush and some in the back of my avalanche not even smashing it down all respect good work nice equipment nice company mean no disrespect though
Great video. You've made it clear that I need to rent the 12". Roughly $250 rental for 6" and $400 for 12" by me. Thanks

The knives on this unit I found out were super dull 😑

@@MichaelTheakston That's what I thought... that the chipper knives were really dull.
@@Samlol23_drrich how much did you pay for it and what dealer did you use? I need one and I live in Texas.
Thanks for the video! I appreciate your concise direction and proper understanding of the equipment. 👍
Great little starter chipper especially for a solo operation.
Youd be better off with a whisper chipper until you are ready for bc1000. Talking from experience
It would be good for everyone to know that the chipper knives on that unit were really dull. I have a Vermeer BC625 chipper and it chips much faster than that.
My Vermeer chipper has a 200 horsepower Cummins turbo diesel. But those chippers are fine for what they are meant for.
I've used a BC900 before and for a 9" machine it's awesome

Helpful, thanks for posting!
Wowww!!....Dude...a little dinky chipper....wonders never cease!
Dave Shaw Yeah, I'm glad I don't own that one
Oh my I was about to buy one, thank God for this video.no thanks what a waste of steel...
Our brush bandit 6 inch chipper makes this thing look like a turtle slow as hell
Slow. Thanks for the honest review.
We have one for our small chipper for our tree service and they are great units but that one seems like the belt is loose or over tight and dull blades thats why the auto feed kept coming on
Brian Kirwan Blades were definitely dull, we rented one last week and it mowed through it no problem.

What’s the cost to purchase one?
Pretty sure the knives were dull on this one- I owned a Vermeer 6" and when it started cutting this slow it was time for knives.
Whistle Dawg That chipper is painfully slow.
Thought I saw a good deal on one. After watching this, no way.
Please how can i order the belts for this vermeer bc600xl brush chipper

Yes you can adjust the feed rate
That thing kicked butt .So are you planned on buying one at some point? .
I do plan on buying one, but don't have enough tree work to justify buying one right now.
@@MichaelTheakston when you do buy, spend 5 grand on a whiper chipper until you are ready for a bc 1000. Dont finance!
Anyone know how much that thing weighs? Just wondering if my jk wrangler can handle it if I rent one.
It will handle it
Hi: In my estimation, it would cost $200 to rent. that is a lot of $$
Those chippers cost $10,000 plus. No so expensive to rent.

Make a fire pit in your backyard and sit by a beautiful fire every evening. Its free!!!!

Mine bogs down any thoughts on why ?
Adjust the in feed rpm stop

I would say one that does at least 12", Anything over that I turn into firewood.

Too bad we didn't have those chips for the yard.

It's funny cause you look like my old art teacher from elementary
Juan Huerta HaHa Awesome!
It fails that bc 600 should be ashamed to be called a chipper
Thought about this unit to upscale from my pto driven chipper. No way. Obviously I was wrong. Horribly under powered

Oh yeah I love the box on the truck
You really thought it was a better idea to rent a chipper instead of just loading up That little twig pile ?
I also did 3 more jobs that day
I'd catch a beaver to chew it faster than this!!!
Yeah, we purchased a much bigger unit
that's
thats really slow
Its better than hauling the shit on a trailer too the dump!
It is very slow
My mother in law can chew better than that
Dang! You lucky duck!
very weak device.
