@@xX-um4qv 마마무 굉장히 좋아하는 아재로서 두그룹의 멤버별 역할이 비슷한점이 있는것 같아요..화사가 도입부 풍부한 음색으로 집중을 하게끔 만들고 시작한다던지...솔라 파워 보컬이나..휘인의 맑고 깨끗한 음색이나 랩파트는 빅마마에 없지만 별이 하모니에서 중저음 깔아주는거랑 비슷해서 외국인들도 그렇게 느끼는것 같아요...물론 두 그룹다 엄청난 그룹임...빅마마는 깊이가 좋고..마마무는 요즘적인 감각이 좋죠..

@@sammy5897 Haha yeah. The project aimed to break the concept of K-pop having beautiful faces and physiques before qualifying as an idol and they surely did it. They became the first girl group to win Daesang with their song Break Away.
You should try listening to their new songs from their newly released album. They are wonderful.♥
@@sammy5897 this was also my reaction! I think tho it's bc they were a project group made under another agency and yg decided to like collaborate with them to make the group happen? From what I read. Think the other agency was mboat?

Both companies were responsible for making the group and not just yg decided to collaborate with mboat to create a diva project group which made big mama. Actually big mama is considered more as a yg artists and not an mboat artists just like gummy and wheesung. Yg had more control over big mama, from producing their music,promoting them, to concert ventures and many more.
These ladies are just iconic. The talent and the power. So happy you've reacted to this ❤
No kidding... There are several artists who have influenced K-pop today, and this is one of them. What they influenced was that singers should be good at singing anyway. Seo Taiji and Boys influenced the K-pop music genre. Currently, the team most similar to Big Mama when she was young is Mamamoo.

The one standing third, Lee Young Hyun, did a song with So Hyang. I believe it's called Mermaid. She is another one of Korean divas along side of So Hyang. You will enjoy their collaboration.

That solo cut is "Resignation" The national anthem of Korean karaoke for decades performed by its composer Lee Young-hyun. Morissette performed this in the 2018 Asian Song festival in Korea and also released a Tri-language version in English, Tagalog and Korean.
Resignation, that's the one Morissette sang in Korea. I think it was Asia Song Festival. I remember you guys reaction to it as well. BIGMAMA is just iconic. They're just soooo good~!

Love Big Mamma and their four distinct voices that harmonize so well. Was so impressed with your reaction video. Nothing in the title or your video's introduction speaks to your background in music but it was quite obvious you know what you are talking about. I've now watched several Big Mama reaction videos and your video was one of the top-two I've watched. Julia Nilon was the other and I learned a ton of different things from both videos. Would not place one above the other. Just two superb videos by people who bring a ton of perspective on four immensely talented singers. Very, very well done.

I miss this kind of voices in KPop. One of the reason why the newer generation doesn't appeal to me is because the current trend for Kpop female vocalist are on the brighter, thinner side popularized by BoA and IU. Don't get me wrong, I like those sound from time to time, but I miss voices like this and Da Vinci.

for context, Big Mama were a group that debuted in a YG sublabel back in 2003. because they didn't have your classic idol looks, they were all doing back up singing etc but YG took a chance on them and said they should just challenge the industry with their voices alone, even their contract stipulated they cannot have plastic surgery! they officially disbanded somewhere around 2010 and all 4 eventually became professors of vocal music in Korea's various unis

Isn't that amazing? The type of K-pop is not limited to dance groups. Park Hyo Shin, Lena Park, Forestella, etc. There are still many singers that you'll be surprised by.
