Note: A more recent traveler commented below that his bus went directly from Narita to Haneda International Terminal 3. He didn't need to take the 2nd tiny shuttle from Haneda T1 to T3 as I did. It's possible that route schedules vary by time of day.
Since people are asking, yes you need to collect your checked in luggage at Narita and take it on the bus to Haneda, then recheck your luggage at Haneda check in counters.

I had landed from Seoul to Narita and only had 3 hrs and 30 min for the layover. I did not expect immigration and customs would take most of the time. Finding a bus to Haneda wasn't hard, but how much time I had was a problem. I only had 20 min left before my flight departure time once I got to Haneda. Of course, missed the flight (INT flights stop check-ins an hour prior apparently?) I spoke with An airline agent and she helped me to find a different flight that was available. It had another layover in one airport but I was glad something worked out.
Overall, lesson learned, I'll not want to do this again! Ever lol

Thank you for this! My question: do you have an idea if the shuttle service inside the airport ( Haneda airport terminal 1 ) runs continuously even after midnight, to cater the travelers the transfer for their respective terminal? Secondly, I will arrive at Narita airport terminal 2 at 8PM. Do you think I will make it to the last Limousine bus going to Haneda airport? This would be my first time in Japan and I have no idea at all. Thank you so much in advance!

    • @CalifornianWayfarer
      @CalifornianWayfarer  Před rokem +1

You go through immigration and claim your luggage at airport 1, but you don't appear to have checked in luggage. Then you go catch your bus and shuttle combo. At airport 2 you go to the check in counter to check in your luggage (not your case apparently) and if you need a boarding pass (it's a good idea to go there anyway just in case they have questions). Then you go through immigration and security, and on to your gate. The whole thing should take around 2 to 2.5 hours.

Thanks for uploading this video it's very much appreciated as I have a similar itinerary. I was concerned I won't have enough time to make the checkin deadline at Haneda. I will be transiting early June so I hope it won't be super busy that time of the year. Also my return flight Haneda to Narita transfer is end of July which is school holidays so not looking forward to that transfer as it could be very busy! I have read online that sometime the bus is booked out so it's recommended you buy a seat online at least 3 days before you depart. I assume clearing immigration on arrival and picking up your luggage is about 30mins on average? A few years ago in Osaka it was 60mins just to get thru immigration but that's was end of March 2020 when Japanese expats were all try to return home due to covid outbreak. I have 4:15hrs to make the transfer which reading previous comments should be enough time. Only concern I have now is flight delay from Australia. Jetstar has been a little unreliable lately so I flight delay of a an hour would probably stuff up my chance of making the transfer in time... Once again many thanks for posting this video!

Rule of thumb for all international travel: If your country of citizenship is required to produce a visa to enter Country B, then you need a visa to enter country B (for travel inside Country B). If you are just transiting Country B and are not leaving the arrival terminal. no visa of any sort is required. But in the case of landing in Narita and going to Haneda for your next flight, you are actually entering Japan and traveling by road. If your country is required to produce a visa for Japan, then you will need a transit visa in this case. Your question is strange because you cant ask someone whether they need a transit visa. as rules for each country of citizenship are different. I'm from the US so I do not need a transit visa to enter Japan. and most other countries in the world

depends on which country you are from, if from the U.S. no you don't need one. You can google real quick to get your answer. If not, contact your airline, they should be able to help

If I'm transfering from Narita to Haneda, Is there an area to leave your luggage at Haneda airport to venture around the city during a long layover?

See if you can check in your luggage at Haneda. You should be able to as you're in transit.

You get a like and athanks but you kept mis pronouncing Haneda when it was repeated over the PA system many times

Correct. I should have changed the way I said it after hearing it on the PA. Trivia: people keep saying Brazil even during and after a visit to the country. It's pronounced Brazeu. International names are tricky to non native travelers.

Hi everyone, i just want to ask a few questions to calm down as the process is gonna be easy and to reinforce my mind.
    1. When pass through the security check, we just need to show them our next ticket (maybe on the phone is ok?) and some necessary documents like passport or for a student like me, I20 or study permit. That’s all right? Is transit visa or anything like so needed?
    2. Do you think 5h50 is enough to finish everything and have a sip in haneda louge?
Thank you so much for your time. I freaked out immediately after randomly checking my tickets for fun :)) i dont even know how to tell my parents abt my stupid mistake😂😂

Transit visa is required for those passengers who are required to have a visa to enter Japan. For example, US citizens do not need any visa to enter Japan. However, nationals of almost every non western nation need a visa or transit visa to enter and transit Japan. You will need to check based on your nationality.

JAPAN TRANSIT VISA.. I RESPECT Japan airlines but it's so HASSLE for those people from Philippines going to USA because the flight is Philippines to NARITA AIRPORT transfer or CHANGE airport to HANEDA AIRPORT so the travellers need to ride a bus 3200 yen transportation fee and would travel like 2 hours going to Haneda airport. My sister ticket is messed up because NARITA AND HANEDA needs TRANSIT VISA to enter and ride a bus going to the HANEDA AIRPORT. My sister don't have TRANSIT VISA so she cancelled her flight and the cancellation fee is $300 and that's so expensive and really hassle

Thank you for sharing your experience. Several people here from the Philippines have asked about a transit visa for which I do not have a definitive answer as I'm not from the Philippines. I'm curious why your sister canceled her ticket. Is it difficult to get a transit visa?

@charmbackyardvlogs6487 that is a challenging situation. Not sure why it takes 2 weeks to get a transit visa. Does the airline not give you any information/prompt when you're booking a flight that you will need a transit visa? Secondly, is there a cost associated with transit visa for Philippines residents? Finally, aren't there other airlines (non Japan) to fly from Philippines to the US? I've never flown via Japan to the PH. I have flown Philippines Airlines as well as Cathay. Narita Haneda transfer is not a big problem for travelers from US and Europe, but for those countries that require a visa to enter Japan, it is not a good situation.

@@charmbackyardvlogs6487 me and my 2 children flying same route from Narita to Haneda and 8 hours layover going back to the US luckily found this video how to transfer in two different airport in Japan.
I'm a US Citizen so I don't need a visa but my 2 children yes, what I did before our flight back in the Philippines I do call the Japan immigration in San Francisco first week of February if my two children need a transit visa and they said yes and give me the requirements since they're both minor still 15 and 17. I got their transit visa in less than two weeks and I didn't pay anything cause Philippines passport holder no need to pay any single penny, but difference in the PH I don't know why they pay for processing. Just forward all the documents required they have website and the only things that you'll need to pay is for US Postal for a return envelop to send you back your passport with visa.
