Aww bless his heart. Hearing the finished Smile material was definitely a highlight of my long-term love of American pop music. It, for me, leaves Sgt. Pepper's in the dust. Just the elemental themes...the modular approach, where any little snippet can turn up again in the middle of another piece. Great as "Pepper" is, it seems almost trite compared to "Smile." I was fortunate to see Brian & Co. around the time of this interview, and it was breathtaking! He has a way of cleansing the atmosphere around me. If I'm driving in the city for example, and I hear on the radio...🎵 "Ahh...I love the coloful clothes she wears..." "Charlie, Charlie, Charlie!" I'm done. Bless his heart. 😻 😎🌹 17:52
He almost never had a bad word to say about anybody. Rap? "Nah. Too much negativity. Too much hate." I agree. To a certain extent. Cash is of course an American legend. Just his personal preferrence I guess. I wonder how he feels about Willie Nelson!
I got a kick out of him saying how he loved his daughters’s voices, obv talking about Carnie and Wendy, and Charlie didn’t know about it and thought he was talking about one of his younger children lol
@Brianwilson007 I don’t know is this the real Brian Wilson but I’d like to think it is. I’m 57 and have loved the Beach Boys since I was a kid. My favourites are In My Room, God Only Knows, Wouldn’t It Be Nice (all of Pet Sounds, really) Christmas Day and Little Saint Nick which are on my Christmas playlist that my wife and I listen to every December. I love the Island song duet with Zooey Deschanel too. Thanks for all the music that brings feelings of peace and pleasure to your fans. God bless.
@@birsay123i have to listen to "in my room" because people really love that song. I didn't know it yet. I love God Only Knows & Surf's Up the best , so far
I'm no psychologist, but isn't Brian asperger-ish? As with many ultra-talented artistic folks, he's a different kind of cat. It's sad that he lost so many years under his doctor's "care".
I was trying to get an idea for the timeline here. He came out with a so-so album...(can't even remember the title!) that had Paul McCartney on one track. I think I played it maybe twice. 🤷♂️
Brian is talented indeed, but is it right that he accepts the title Genius so easily? God Only Knows, Good Vibrations and Surfs Up show great talent, but maybe Chopin, Händel, Beethoven, Wagner and Schumann are real geniuses
Him singing silent night and laughing like a god dang muppet melted my heart dude
Mine too
Wow, brian was really happy and responsive here. Definitely one of his better interviews
I love Brian’s honesty❤
Brian Wilson’s been through a lot. Most of his mind is still there. Thanks for posting this. Missed it at original air date.
🌿❤️🌿 Brian Wilson's music is heaven. 🌿❤️🌿
7:16-8:17 was a profound minute in this interview. I almost broke down towards the end of what Brian said there. Wow man.

I feel charlie rose doesn’t know Brian Wilson’s producing history.
Brian was 65 here and awesome as always
Brian doesn't waste words, does he?
the johnny cash part is so fucking funny
he said “no i never liked him” eleven times in a row lmao
@@jonathanharville1079 As someone who loves both Johnny Cash and Brian Wilson, that part caught me so off guard 😂

Never liked him neither
yeah!

He’s so cool. A highly intelligent artist with a bold honest childlike attitude 😊🎶👍🏻
I love this interview. Brian so animated and honest.
Brian: “I hope my daughters become singers.”
Brian, you’re daughters _are_ singers.
Gotta love Brian!

LSD induced Asperger’s I bet lol
Still waiting for that rock and roll album :(
he could have rocked that in his younger years. in the 80s he did a few rock songs and it always worked out pretty well imo.
@@dmer-zy3rb Oh for sure. I love all his 80s stuff, especially what he was able to do with Usher

Maybe that became That Lucky Old Son

Lol charlie didnt know much about him. "Would you like your daughter to become a successful singer?"
Few people know this but Charlie was totally naked from the waist down. He always liked to give interviews in the nude. Weird, but very sexy
Never understood how Charlie got a show. He was horrible! Q: Are you sad The Beach Boys ended? A: My brothers died.
Brian is talented indeed, but is it right that he accepts the title Genius so easily? God Only Knows, Good Vibrations and Surfs Up show great talent, but maybe Chopin, Händel, Beethoven, Wagner and Schumann are real geniuses
Haha on Johnny cash. Hsha
Had a great face for radio. Vastly overrated.
The beatles were nothing compared to him/them! Anyone who doesn't appreciate the brilliance of Brian Wilson/the Beach Boys needs the dirt nap! 💯🇱🇷
The Beatles were nothing?? Ok sure 🤣
Brian also wrote a lot of crap ...I like both bands
@@user-xy8mp9xl7e he's just being nice to his mate
@@user-xy8mp9xl7e I love the beach boys as well but strawberry fields and day in the life are just as good
@user-xy8mp9xl7e and Rubber Soul inspired Pet Sounds....
I´m laughing so hard right now - I love this devastated charakter
Devastated?! Hardly. He's forgotten more than you'll ever know. 😤
Me too! He can be hilarious! 🙂
