I saw Billy at Notre Dame last summer and at 73yrs old he's still rockin and doing an almost 3 hour show. Billy and the band are still selling out arenas and he is awesome 😎.It was great to see the smile you had and that you liked the song.😊
It’s easy to have swagger when you - and your band - have that kind of massive talent. So glad you discovered this jewel 💎.
Probably my favorite live performance by Billy Joel and his incredible band , so happy you shared this!
BILLY JOEL IS THE MAN!!
Such a great performance! I actuallly got my picture in Rolling Stone because of him. I was in high school and went with my drama class on a trip to NYC. We went to see Little Shop of Horrors when it was still off-Broadway. But it had a lot of buzz. I ended up talking with this stunning woman in the bathroom during intermission. When it was over, I ended up next to her on the street, just casually chit-chatting about how great the show was. She was with this guy and I thought she was way out of his league. Then a camera man jumped out and said, “Mr. Joel, Ms. Brinkley, Rolling Stone, can I get a shot?”
Yes, it was Christie Brinkley (the hottest supermodel at the time) that I had been talking to! And she was with Bill Joel. They had just started dating (they later married). She threw her arms around him immediately and the camera flashed. And in the next issue of Rolling Stone, there was the picture announcing that they were an item. And I’m in the background with my jaw hanging down in disbelief.
That was my 10 second of fame. 😂
- And I was a Billy Joel fan and I’d seen a million pictures of Christie Brinkley. But you don’t recognize people when you’re not expecting to see someone famous.
YES! This song embodies what is best about NYC 🗽🗽🗽. Grew up in the Bronx and Brooklyn; live just across the water in Jersey and can see the skyline when I’m at the beach down the road from my house. The spirit of New York is in me until the day I die ❤. Moved to San Diego in 2014; lasted 16 months and came back; had to get back home!!! Congratulations on getting the Jethro Tull reference!!!!!! 🔥
This is why Billy Joel is the greatest of the modern era of music. Musical genius and composer. Best lyrics of all time, the man paints pictures with words. And lets not forget how fucking COOL this man is
This song makes anyone feel like they are walking down Broadway on your way to Time Square transformed into a New York State Of Mind.... Magical. You found the right version of this most certain Classic Rock song from one of the most prolific songsters of all time....."Piano Man"
He wrote this song as a tribute to Ray Charles his idol. Billy Joel is an awesome piano man, singer , and song writer!!❤❤heart
I´m spanish but I love Billy Joel ( the Piano Man )
Love how Billy Joel clearly gives zero f👀ks about CZcams copyright. Everything available.
Has more money than just about any artist so he’s not gonna stress over people sharing his music.
Absolute legend.
Jefro Tull won the 1st HEAVY METAL Award. Heavy Metal FLUTE!
Wish I could've seen The Dueling Piano Tour. Billy Joel & Sir Elton John!!
My favorite performance of this!!
With that much talent he doesn't really need both hands, he could do that as they say... With One Hand Tied Behind His Back. Billy is up there with Rick Davies, Nicky Hopkins, Steve Walsh, Elton John, Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson and some of the best to ever touch a keyboard.
This is one of the best performances I’ve seen on YT. Thank you for this. 👏👏❤️
I loved your Jethro Tull story.
In case you missed it, a tribute to Ray Charles' style. But a brilliant song even without that.
Goat 😊😊😊😊
I love this song, this performance, and New York! ☮️❤️😎
When I was a kid in Vermont my best friend named her new puppy Jethro, after JT - hot at the time!
If you enjoyed this song, check out My Baby Grand by Billy Joel & Ray Charles. It has a similar feel to it (such that I often confuse the 2 until I hear them side by side, lol), but seeing/hearing 2 such accomplished pianists play together is fabulous!
Joel doing his best Ray Charles.... 😀
Fantastic performance. Saw him 5 times I think. Always a great show. I’m nostalgic for the NY of my youth.
The best Billy Joel video song talent..all of it
If the Sax Player can't "Kill It", he won't be on stage with Billy Joel... who certainly can kill it on Piano.
Just found you. You are wonderful!! Thank you for your work!!
@JMBOYTV , I saw Billy Joel in 76. Most of the songs he had a harmonica around his neck, playing the piano and wailin' on that mouth harp...incredible. I liked your intro story about knowing who Jethro Tull is now since doing these reactions. You play a lot of great music. If you're ever wanting to do a deep dive into one hit wonder artists, there are tons we can turn you on to... bands like these:
Dr. John, Groundhogs, Tommy Bolin, Blue Cheer, Goose Creek Symphony, Ars Nova, Troggs, McDonald & Giles, Al Kooper, Long John Baldry, Wishbone Ash, Seven, Harvey Mandel, Al Stewart, Boz Scaggs, Funkadelic, Gypsy, Ian Thomas, Baker Gurvitz Army, John Kongos, America, Bloodrock, Atomic Rooster, Argent, Buzzy Linhart, Crabby Appleton, Gentle Giant, Chilliwack, Camel, H.P. Lovecraft, Klaatu, Magic Mushroom, Peanut Butter Conspiracy.... ok, ok, I'll stop.... but that is just a few. There were SO many bands with SO many songs.
The Old Grey Whistle Test. Look it up to further knowledge.
Never saw him myself unfortunately, but I've heard Billy Joel is Incredible in concert! I can see why! Thanks for this!
How’s this, Billy Joel/Elton John, 1995. SIXTH ROW! Elton was stuffy but my man Billy got down with the crowd.💚
It's not Bleeding Gums Murphy in the Simpson LOL
It’s fun when you get references! Great reaction to Billy! Thanks JM!
"Piano Man" is a legend with his hands on a keyboard, but my favorite is Rick Davies, Supertramp - "Don't Leave Me Now"
Fun to see him play it Live but the dynamic of the song is missed from the studio version. The radio track was what made the song popular.
Sempre dal vivo si vede il vero talento di Piano Man .... Il più completo e brillante songwriter in assoluto .... Consiglio Leave A tender moment alone duet con Tootsie Tielemans (live)
He named his daughter Alexa Ray after Ray Charles.
She is his twin. Dark features and big brown eyes.
