Crazy thought: what if there was some way to climb over the walls in the starting area and skip whatever trigger there is for the opening cutscene? It might take a bit longer than just going straight through but you would make up for it by not having to stand there watching the camera pan.
I feel like you can cut out the yellow emerald, especially with the umbrella upgrade. Just getting the blue and white emeralds (or even just the white emerald) would probably be more optimal. It looks as though running on the ground is faster than gliding anyways, but I dunno.

Was trying this today, and found it's probably best to go for the Purple Chaos Emerald to get the White Chaos Emerald to see where Froggy is. Also, there's speed tech going unutilized in this run (I think?). For some reason when I play the game Big's Belly Bounce sends him FLYING and that can be used in combination with sloped ground and at the very least the Rainbow Umbrella to cover a LOT of distance in a short amount of time. My strat is to get the Rainbow Umbrella in Green Hill, get the Purple Chaos Emerald, get the White Chaos Emerald, figure out where Froggy is, and get over there as fast as possible. My best Any% record WOULD have been near or under 10:00 (with in-game time) if catching Froggy wasn't so finnicky. As it stands, my current best is 18:51 for Any%, and later on I did a True Ending% run (where you must get ALL 7 Chaos Emeralds BEFORE Froggy) Which took me 25:56 to beat. But I didn't know calling for Froggy made him easier to find, maybe I'll try this again and get a time better than this. Edit: Just tried Any% again, got a time of 10:33, ALMOST under 10 minutes. If Froggy would just cooperate and get on the hook, I'd have gotten under 10 minutes, but it didn't help that Froggy was in Pumpkin Hill. Still on the nose about calling this a real speedrun for one reason though: my Belly Bounce power. Like I said before, for some reason on my computer when I play the game Big's Belly Bounce sends him WAY higher than it does in this run, allowing me to (quite easily) do things such as skip over the tutorial and BOTW cutscene, grab the Rainbow Umbrella upgrade in Green Hill Zone without much effort, and glide outrageous distances across the map at once. Most of my strategy involves using the Busted Belly Bounce in combination with the Rainbow Umbrella to get up walls, momentum glide off of slope bounces, and make getting to Palmtree Panic Zone easy. I also used the reset button to kill myself so I would be closer to Froggy's location after using the White Chaos Emerald to see his location. If anyone can confirm that Big's Belly Bounce becoming more powerful is the result of an update to this fangame that happened in the last two months and not something that happens to work because my computer is giving up some of the laws of physics to make the game still playable, I'd be happy to call this a speedrun record.
ok sub 10 is definetly possible i just got a 9:39 in game time run now I do look at the map a bit so it's probably not that exact time but I definitely didn't pause for 21 seconds lol
