If someone doesn't like reading the cards, I honestly don't know why they would own this. Great review, I'll probably pick this up in a bit. Only have FS and UtP expansions so far
I know this is old but I can tack onto it. I recently watched a pretty popular gaming channel day that they don't bother with reading the text and just looking at the skill test and resolve it. Seriously why play the game. Eldritch has amazing flavor that shouldnt be skipped IMO. If you're there, do you still play? :-)
Ok my interest is peaked! I own all the small box expansions but none of the big box sets. I just never liked the idea of adding a whole other board to the game when the small expansions I could just throw everything into the existing game. If Dreamlands is straight forward then this might be the big expansion for me to pick up! Great review Nick! :)
I'm just wondering if you realized that you don't play with the expansion boards during every game. Just when you use an Ancient One specific to that expansion side board or draw the right prelude card.
Devon Hummel Kind of. It's the same in the other two big expansions. One Ancient One and one prelude card activates the board - so it happens in the beginning. So, you can actually have the sideboard with any ancient one if you chose that specific prelude. Otherwise, you chose the ancient one that activates the sideboard. Hope this clarifies it. I find it a bit weird but there's probably some logic behind it (like so you can play with at least one of the new ancient ones without the sideboard. I guess people like that option.)
Great Nick that you have reduced the length of the reviews. Now it is prefect. And you have a beard again, as I've suggested some time ago. ;) What will the next expansion for EH look like? Do you think that it will be something similar to Miskatonic for AH (expansion providing extra content for other expansions)? Anyways thanks for another valuable review!
what would be the order of expansions from most essential to least. I have base, forbidden Lore and strange remnants. what expansions are more essential?
Sorry, where I'm from we use "you" as the impersonal. Kind of makes no sense. Allow me to rephrase, "If a person does not like story blurbs, why would said person play Eldritch?" In reference to "some people". I suppose you simply bend them to your will, as do all good board game night organizers.

Devon Hummel Haven't tried Pyramids yet but between this and MoM, this is better. Definitely start with this one and see about the rest.
Though MoM is pretty straight forward as well.
