  • In this video I will explain how to calculate maximum safe current between the solar inverter and battery (AGM GEL or LiFePo4) for popular hybrid and off-grid inverters like EaSun, Solfar, Must, Growatt , Fronius, SolarEdge, Sungrow and more.
    Maximum current value is required to obtain proper Fuse and wire size.
    Power rated and battery voltage system could vary but the most popular is 5.5KW or 10 KW for 48 V battery or 3 KW for 24 volt battery.
    We well also talk about
    - Why wire size matters and what can happens it is not selected properly
    - Why we should keep our connection cables between battery and solar inverter as short possible
    - How to calculate direct current fuse rate between battery and inverter.
    - How to obtain right fuse between battery and solar inverter.
    - What is the formula for Imax in 48V or 24V battery system
    To calculate the maximum current of a DC circuit between a battery and solar inverter, you can use the general following formula:
    I = P / V
    Where I is the maximum current, P is the maximum power of the battery in watts, and V is the voltage of the battery.
    For example, let's say the maximum power of the solar #inverter is 5500 watts and the #voltage of the battery is 48volts. The maximum #current of the circuit would be:
    I = 5500 watts / 48 volts = 115 Amps
    Keep in mind that this is the maximum current that the circuit can handle under ideal conditions. In practice, the actual current may be lower due to factors such as power loss and resistive heating.
    Another example:
    for 3000 Watts rated offgrid solar inverter with 24 volts battery maximum current will be:
    I = 3000 / 24 = 125 Amps

    I am very glad that you continue this series. It is very important to increase fundamental awareness of the need to switch to renewable energy sources. The possibilities of self-creation of such micro-installations are currently huge and practically within the reach of every inhabitant of a single-family house. Thanks for the good material.

    Hi, I have 5 batteries of 120Ah each, wanna wire them in parallel. Not understanding if my cable would have to handle 585 Amps or 120 Amps to connect between the batteries, and a 600 amp fuse before the inverter ?

    Hello sir nice video well explained .. I have a 48v 6.2kw inverter that I’m gonna connect to 48v lithium ion cells ..
    by my calculations it’s required 129 amps fuse .. should I use 150 or 200 amps ?
    What AC BRAKER u recommend ? .
    also what size of wire should I connect to my battery? a 25mm or thicker . Thanks .

    Why would you use the wattage of the charge controller and not the solar panel, especially if the panels total half the controller size?

    my inverter has continous 1500 watts and the peak is 3,000 watts! which watts do I use? for the formula?

    3000 watts out at .85 efficiency using 24 volts is 150 amps. Not 120

    I tried the calculator but didn't seem to be the right answer for the info I plugged in. I have 2000watt inverter, 380watts of solar, 50amp solar controller and 2 100ah lithium batteries. So Do I need 4/0 or 2/0 cable?
