- PHANTOM THREAD is available now on Digital, Blu-ray Disc and DVD.
Set in the glamour of 1950’s post-war London, renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock and his sister Cyril are at the center of British fashion, dressing royalty, movie stars, heiresses, socialites, debutants and dames with the distinct style of The House of Woodcock. Women come and go through Woodcock’s life, providing the confirmed bachelor with inspiration and companionship, until he comes across a young, strong-willed woman, Alma, who soon becomes a fixture in his life as his muse and lover. Once controlled and planned, he finds his carefully tailored life disrupted by love.
Written and Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Lesley Manville and Vicky Krieps. Music by Johnny Greenwood.

The most romantic intentional food poisoning story I ever saw.
Only PTA would dream this up and deem it worthy of release.
Unlike anything you’ve ever seen, right?…. That’s PTA
This movie had nothing to do with love or romance but just dysfunction and trauma bonding
@@bibibipapipaNo it is a love story
@@bibibipapipain other words, love.
Everything about this movie is a masterpiece.
Yeah, it was so chic!
@@deztherhino Chic Flic?
The music! The acting! The locations!
@@deztherhino lol
Agree
"but in his work i become perfect"... the combination of dialogue and instrumental intertwine beautifully
that line gives me chills. Cutting this scene has to be a crime
the way he extended his leg over her’s, as they were just simply embracing in their love, speaks so much. the rush of awe that i felt in that scene was overflowing. i’ve felt their love through the screen and it was so strong. there was so much romance, chemistry, and tension in that film, and it was subtle but loud. such a beautiful masterpiece of a film.
I swear women will oversee any red flags in a person 🤦🏽♂️💀
I know lol, he was a beast actor, little things like that, her too.
@@ramsesperez3712omg yes, this movie had a way of having the audience gloss over the madness lol
Yup. Same here
pta and jonny greenwood best duo to ever exist
Absolutely!
I adore all these scenes, especially the ones of Alma and Reynolds simply luxuriating in their love. I suppose they might not have helped further the plot had they been left in, but those shots of the two walking in the park and lounging on the boat take my breath away. Like the many deleted scenes from ‘The Master,’ I cherish seeing them as an extension of the film’s world even if they aren’t in the finished film.
PTA, I worship at your cinematic altar.
Anthony Miglieri gotta say I think the pacing of Phantom would have been helped by the inclusion of these scenes
I'm torn. I love seeing them *now*. But I can't look at the movie and think it would somehow be improved by indulgent scenes of them lounging in each other's company. Its understatement seems so important to the vibe of the movie. I think the cuts were right overall.
Dylan O'Connell I think I agree. As pleasant and lovely as these scenes are, I don’t think the ultimate goal of the movie is to depict “easy” moments of affection. The finished movie is a more difficult, complex look at love on the whole, which makes the few moments of pure bliss we DO get all the more powerful. But I still love knowing that these moments “happened” in the world of the movie.
Half of this was still in the movie
@@amigs13 I'm torn. Because I do recall, on first viewing, feeling that the story went from the bliss of "will you marry me?" to Reynolds grimacing while Alma eats oatmeal a bit indecorously during their honeymoon, and I laughed because he was disenchanted so immediately, but looking back, I think the story benefits from a bit more of the swoon before the shadows appear. However -- nothing should ever interfere with that shot of them dancing at the New Year's Eve ball in the final montage. It's possibly my favorite shot in the film, and carries a LOT of weight only being seen in that final sequence. It so perfectly lands that, through their hard-won mutual understanding, he is finally able to enter life, the dance, with her, rather than tugging her roughly home by the arm as he did that night.
I would love to see all of DDL characters he’s ever played in one room together just to show the insane diversity and depth each of them hold. He’s just the best.
Even the deleted scenes are perfect. Oh my days, this movie is simply gorgeous!
Man, that kid is in so much trouble...
Hahahaha
It's my opinion that, if your love story isn't bittersweet to some extent, you aren't doing it right.
Which poison do you use?
Nathan Sanders surely not to the extent of poisoning them
@@leleprtk Not the that extent but all relationships have hills and valleys. Sweet is never as sweet without the sour. Hopefully they find another method of keeping their relationship healthy without the poison. lol.
1:44 that shot...
And to think, there was no official DP for this...
pretty sure boat shots are rear projection
looks like green screen to me
Looks like really bad green screen ^^
@@Lamidemonami7891 I dont think it was even green screen. It was probably a rolling/moving background, which they used to use in older films to show a car in motion when they couldn't actually shoot cars in motion.
i could feel the tension of their love just simply through their eye contact.
I love that the last role we ever got to see him in isn't a bigger than life character like Bill the Butcher or Plainview with incredibly unique voices and mannerisms, but such a quietly powerful one with pretty much his voice, his accent, his looks in an unbelievably beautiful movie. I'll miss the excitement of a new DDL movie being announced but I honestly couldn't be happier about this being his last movie. So incredibly gorgeous.
that breakfast order scene is one of my favorites, feels like love at first sight; so good
a terrific film ,with an extraordinary soundtrack.......DANIEL DAY-LEWIS UNFORGETTABLE.......I LOVE THIS MOVIE....
Ok.
This totally should have been included in the film, to give more of an insight to Alma!
This is hands down the most romantic video on CZcams, the montage, the voice over, the song
I love these supplemental pieces that come along with PTA pictures nowadays
Back Beyond is the best
Trying my hardest not to cry at the beauty of this video
This is a little masterpiece all on its own
God, everything in this movie is beautiful. Happy Birthday, Danny.
Feels like the scenes only they know about but we had to figure out or imagine ourselves.
4:09 hinting at the baby is better than showing.
Although it does illustrate that his disordered rigid thinking is healed.
Greatest romance in film of the modern era? (Say 60’s and onward?) It certainly holds that title for me.
James Walcott I see this as a great companion piece to Punch Drunk Love. Punch drunk was less of a love story, but it did have the beginnings of a love story. Now this film takes on what the relationship often is moving forward. Mark Kermode made an excellent point when he said that the film is much like a Disney movie of sorts, like Beauty and The Beast. Many dreamy elements, like the magical mushroom, and ghosts/curses. You ought to check out his review. I do think he goes a bit overboard with the analysis but it really does make you think about these things
Hey man, I love this movie as well, but something that bothers me a lot with moviegoers nowadays is this need to say things like "the greatest movie..." or "the greatest actress...", I don't know. Cinema is such a personal thing, do you think titles like that really mean anything?
Yeah it's really far from the best in the last 50 years, even if it's a great movie.
Calling Phantom Thread a "romance film" rather diminishes it. It's a movie that goes beyond the romantic genre, it's far richer, even if it has elements of it. The "love" aspects of the story (arguably its main subject, nonetheless) are far more complex and perplexing than what is told in the vast majority of tales.
I prefer to not think about scores and ranks too much. If I start doubting "but what about this movie and that movie", I prefer to keep my judgement at the "no doubt" level...best one? Idk, top 10? no doubt
Remember, post 60s we have Bridges of Madison County, Punch Drunk Love, Two Lovers and a whole bunch of movies that I have no idea whether they count as romance even...like does Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind count? Do Her and Ex Machina count? Does The Shape of Water count? Also is "After" so bad that it goes below 0 and loops around to 10?
I mean there are many questions and few answers
Thanks for the deleted scenes which i could feel more deeply, the way of thier love.
Thank You, For All The Content
The cinematography is so beautiful
This movie was so beautiful both the story line and the cinematography. I love how intense their love for one another was, u can feel it through the TV and this song....OMG, makes me tear up every time.
Isn't it a toxic relationship ?
the boat scene should been in the movie , WOW
One beautifully twisted, omg, film.
What a movie. Love it, love it.
4:22 masteful shot
il meglio del cinema Exactly that was beautiful
Agreed!
No.
Holy heck they had a child?!
An outstanding piece of cinema and a great swanson for Mr Lewis, difficult to top this one Paul! Vicky Krieps steals the show for me ;)
"Yeah pretty good but remember the 180 degree rule next time"

Bien dicho, así es.
Lol. Don't even remember writing this.
Stunning!
god i love this movie so much
Pure gold
Extremely beautiful
I just fell to my knees in a CVS parking lot
Elegant and beautiful
Una película a la que se puede volver en busca de inspiración, como experiencia cinematográfica es sublime. Y el argumento es complejo, intenso, pero a la vez sobrio.
These are just 4 minutes the rough cut was about 3 hours and 40 minutes
My God we need the rough cut ASAP
Yusof Nazari yeah this is a movie where one might as well hang out as long as possible in that world
How many pages was the script?
I think they did a good job not adding these. Leaving some of these out. Helped tell the story in a more interesting way. Going from the date to living together 👍🏻👍🏻
I agree. The point of love isn't capturing every moment. It's capturing the beauty of each capture
what a beautiful film this was
Have you watched this movie if you did can you give me a context about the movie. Because I am thinking to watch it
This is such a wonderful movie......
I've never knew that PTA is such an aesthetic person! Beautiful... the masterwork..
Thank you 😍😍😍😍💖
Brilliant.
love !
PRECIOUS
Come on Netflix, pick this up.
They have this now. I've just watched it.
Un personaje con TEA de libro. Tuve un novio así como él. Tal cual.
These should have been in the movie
Nah the baby looks weird.
Great actor, hermoso hombre 🥰
Listen to me , don't listen to me
Talk to me , don't talk to me
Dance with me , don't dance with no
beep beep .... ---- David Bowie
I like this movie.
WOW. Why wasn't in this in the final cut? This feels like the most pure scenes of love of affection between them. Perhaps that's why they didn't make it 😢
can somebody put this on spotify instead of for the hungry boy, i need these alma narrations
Lovely movie. Love DDL 2.43 to 3.57 not deleted. it is in the movie
O those stockings!
Did they keep this tune in the edited version?? What's the name of the tune?? It's beautiful..
it's called "House of Woodcock", the main theme of the movie. there's official audio on youtube.
Well, it's not "House of Woodcock". It's the same title as the video - "For The Hungry Boy".
@@dimaMAYD No, it's House of Woodcock
those pink socks keep reminding me of iv
I don't think you'd see a crane with a huge LED light on it in 1950s London
Haha well spotted
Where did I miss it?
I watched this film a few times and am I the only one who feels that DDL isn't speaking with an English accent??
So what is it then?
I can see why they left it out but at the same time it’s a very good scene.
so fucking good
Get ready for the poisonous mushrooms...kiss me before I get sick.
I would have NEVER remembered that order! even if it was Alexandra Daddario
ordering lol!!!!!
You ESPECIALLY wouldn't remember it then.
How this scene could be deleted?
She remembers the order O_o
That ordering scene is in the film....?
Yes
So are the driving scenes
car scene with burgundy Bristol 405 made by the British Aeroplane Company
This is really good but half of the scenes aren't deleted at all, do they?
only the breakfast scene was included in the official movie as I recalled
The shot form the rear of the car was definitely included. Very Kubrick Clockwork Orange
@@iangalbraith1993yes but it was not part of Alma’s narration. It was only him driving to the countryside.
They did well excluding those scenes, it would have been to soft
I’m not sure. I think including them would have rounded out Reynolds a bit at the end. Especially the infant scene.
Name of the music?
House of Woodcock, its the film''s main theme
Its in the title "For The Hungry Boy", plays in the movie credits.
4:23 This one. Just this one.
No, puñetas.
Those aren’t deleted scenes
I’m glad they took out the baby scene, I know it’s just a fantasy of hers but it’s cringe worthy to think of a new life being born into such a sick relationship.
174 likes and no dislikes - wow!

Is the admin an Indian ?
No
I really tried to like this movie. I wish I could understand, because clearly people have responded to it.
You have to have experienced intense love to really get it
Do you not like it because you don’t understand it? The key is: she can only break his defenses by poisoning him. Only after experiencing how he can surrender and need her can he fully admit his own love.
Perhaps it just doesn’t speak to you, which is totally valid. I found it very interesting simply because it’s so far outside conventional commercial fare. Love can be strange and contradictory. They’re both kind of scary people. If she over-poisons him he’s dead. So perhaps you’re reacting to what seems unrealistic. Yet there are many relationships that seem to make no logical sense yet people are together.
Greenwood played the sound of Creep of his band Radiohead.. anyone noticed that?
They have a baby? 4:05
Vinayaka yes if you recall the final scene in theater there is a stroller iirc
J V ELL There is?? I didn't notice :/
Vinayaka yep it’s definitely there. But it’s true you could almost blink and miss it. I think this movie really should have been a bit longer to allow just a tad more exposition and explore the 2 costars’ characters. Pure cinematic pleasure... yet didn’t make as much of a lasting impression on me when it just stayed w DDL.
J V ELL PTA is a god of cinema
@@JJJJJVVVVVLLLLLthey almost force you to watch it repeatedly to finally get it… but man, then it’s like a sinkhole 😅
I've always been confused by the line "...and my neck was skinny like a bird." What?
