Legit shocked a 4 way control mirror game is only an hour long
Same lmao, very interested to see how it plays out.
The actual game time was over three hours, but a lot of it was people thinking while doing nothing, as could be expected, so the edited video is much shorter
Editor is Best Boy yet again.
Thank you for the deep Lore!@@Niuttuc
I think the actual game was, it was like 20+ turns
Again, I miss the debrief segment at the end.
Makes for a less abrupt end and it's just natural to talk about the game that just happened.
That's what we do irl as well, isn't it.
Though I agree, I can imagine Seth wearily saying "we don't need a wrap up" after this game lol
Could make a fun follow video for people that like wrap ups
Wow what an ending. 100% did not see that coming in the slightest. This was WAY more fun to watch than it had any right being considering it was a 4 way control mirror.
for those wondering what that was don't look below
Basically richard drew a miracle with his "Spectral sailor" he drew "Glacial Chasm" then he was able to kill both of them with "Price of Progress" and he lives with his land.
100% agree so fun to watch even tho all control
I like how the phil control deck is still a phil disgusting value deck 😂
Your editor is amazing! they put all of the cards on screen and cut all of the boring searching! Love you guys!
Crim's birthday party looks good
The editor is doing a GREAT job
Not a Green mana pip in sight. Beautiful. Really enjoyed this game. Control match-ups are fun to watch.
Phil's absolute disdain with "You tap your lands in different directions? Disgusting." made me laugh out loud. To be fair, he's correct. XD
I have to say, I'm loving the new format where you play with real cards. MTGO works, but i'm a big fan of your current setup and the editor is doing an amazing job with the big cards to read as they get played
I love how organized Phil's board is
The change to spelltable is amazing! I love this so much!
what a cool win! never seen that combo before.
Did not expect it to end like that but it makes sense. The editing is great but I do miss MTGO, maybe I’ll get used to the new format eventually. Thanks for the video!
Real cards are way better than mtgo
richard trying to mystic sanctuary with half the lands in his deck out and only one island 😭
Am I the only one that noticed Richard used Sharpie to draw on his dry erase tokens at 36:16...?
Hahahaha!
Really like the in person format
Crim, it was an amazing day meeting you at nationals. I'm so thankful to have your signature on my mat. Also wanted to let you know I ended up 43rd:) in the digimon nationals
Not going to lie, I was not expecting the price of progress. Very nice finish.
Back from vacation to catch up on the clashes! This episode you know Crim definitely says clash on!
I never look in the foreground of their streams too often but I'm just NOW noticing that Phil has a Buddy Christ model and that's the best thing ever
phil looking like jimmy wong with these land drops
Always enjoyed your taste in basic lands Seth. Keep it coming, there is still so much excellent "under rated" art out there.
Excellent edition, it made the game feel fast paced! One of the most enjoyable control matches to watch
Love the layout of the video with the playmate and faces in square frames in the middle
Gold border cards are awesome.
Richard won despite having lost like 10 Nezahal triggers, well played
Spoilers much....
richard always wins lol
@@Thecalebpoe If you haven't watched the video you shouldn't be reading the comments.
@@emagtresni how does that even make sense. I was looking to see if someone commented what I was thinking during a certain point of the video. So I could join that conversation.
@@Thecalebpoe Protip: The comments section will contain spoilers. Including the thing you were looking for, which also would've been a spoiler for people who haven't watched as much of the video as you have.
As someone whos only really ever watched MTGO/Arena, I'm enjoying the switch to paper a lot. The on screen graphics really help clarity, and not having to deal with MTGO's jankiness is really nice (even edited down it would slow the experience down as a spectator, it mustve been 10x worse for you guys lol)
This is the most riveting game I have seen in a long time, and I aint even joking.
The only episode that I feel has held up to the previous seasons on MTGO.
This has been amazing. The thing i love the most about control decks is you are never completely out of the game. And its so hard to know who's in the lead.
As the dedicated hard control player of the pod, I am very thankful for this episode!
A) I love a good control mirror match!
B) As my list is less salty than these are, I am hopeful that folks will be not as upset with me. :D
It's been a few weeks of them doing the live play and I think its 1000% better than playing mtgo. I hope this is the new standard for commander clash
phil at 19:50 LOL
Okay so maybe a 4-way control game is a bit much, but it IS nice to see them actually playing interaction and counterspells.
This is amazing. Thank you for this episode.
That was great and I would love to see more control-leaning themes in the future!
Dragonlord Ojutai? Hook 2015 standard up and pump it into my veins xD
On turn 18 - during Crim's turn - at 51:00 Seth used Azcanta to get "Approach of the Second Sun" to his hand.
Then his turn followed.
As such during his turn Seth could have simply used his Boseiju's ability to make an instant or sorcery spell uncounterable and used it to cast "Approach of the Second Sun" a second time - just like he did for the first time a few turns prior.
So he would have won the game with that, right?
Did he not do it to keep the game going for content or is there another reason I failed to see preventing him from casting it that way while he was at 25 life?
I'm wondering the same thing. Crim did say he had a plan for that (and that he would have used it on Nezahal if Approach hadn't been the biggest threat)
Edit: I've now reached the end of the video, and Crim didn't use it on the Price of Progress so I don't know what he had (he only had 3 untapped lands)
That was bothering me so much, but looking back it was somewhat reasonable, even if I still woulda gone for it. Crim said he had it handled, and basically what would've happened if he cast it the first time he could it'd get Venser'd back to his hand. He had enough mana to try again but not uncounterable and then it'd probably be countered. That might have been the best result since it would take the heat off him, cause if he tried once and then saved it for the next turn he was dead to the board once everyone focused him. Not trying again the turn after was pretty bad though, he was so low he was basically dead already.
@@laytonjr6601 It was the Venser he used to save his Teferi
@@ScottyDoesKnowSo basically if Seth did not discard his "Stifle" and would have activated his "The One Ring's" ability first to draw out Richard's "Tishana's Tidebinder" then he could have cast "Approach of the Second Sun" uncounterable.
This would have caused Crim to cast his "Venser" but Seth could have countered it by using his "Stifle".
Therefore unless someone else had another counter Seth would have had the chance to win the game that turn if he kept "Stifle".
Everything would have depended on anyone else having another counter.
Is that right?
@@xyavdast5554 Ya I also thought it was kinda weird he pitched the stifle, that could've been the win though it could easily have been countered. In the end you gotta just go for it rather than sit there and slowly die
Absolutely loving the paper content, please keep doing it!
I have been on gold basics for awhile. Glad Seth has seen the light lol
by far my favorite episode in a long time. Was so fun to watch!
I wish there were more matches like this ^^
Great episode. 4 control decks is always a fun time.
Really do love the paper magic as a change up and hope to see more of it in the future!
Phil was genius for playing monarch on control week
As unfun as this might initially come off as, I actually really enjoyed the level of interaction in this game.
High interaction game are usually the most fun
The most impressive thing was just that altered Mana Tithe. The priorities here have been laid out clear and loud.
I love how three diffrent teferis were in this episode
4
@@DarthTUK 5 if you count his protection too XD
I would’ve expected more
Perhaps it was a brutal experience for (some of) the players, but that was a really cool game! Love how everyone injected their own flavor into their control decks.
Dragonlord Oj was so much fun in standard. Thats when i got into edh. My esper dragons was a fnm pub stomper. My favorite card that standard rotation was "silence". The look on peoples face when i would silence them was priceless
Not sure why this is labeled as disgusting, this was Magic at it's finest
Wild prediction during the intro, this ends with a man-land beatdown somehow.
This game is a perfect example for this format of video being superior. I bet this would have been a 3 hour game on mtgo.
That was a cool win though
interesting watch. That ending K.O. was epic
Richard tricked me. I thought that Phil actually played Standstill.
This was a lot of fun to watch, guys!
This was absolutely fantastic to watch
Crim didnt even say clash on and everyones like, he did it good job! Haha
I’m surprised myself at how much more enjoyable those “live” games have been for me. Glad you guys keep playing this way
Crim is so happy throughout this video it's so cute
Got to give it to Richard. He practices what he preaches.
Dang, awesome seeing all the instant speed interactions everyone had. Really thought that Crim would have won as it was in in forte.
loved, loved, loved this game! Good job guys!
this was amazing guys! really enjoyed this!
No one played a commander that made their own spells uncounterable. Was this a gentleman's agreement?
Hilarious game, there were so many Teferis :D
1:04:16 Phil called it!
Control mirrors are some of my favorite 1v1 games to play. Curious how this plays out in 4 player.
"[you] tap your lands in different directions? disgusting.." - Phil, and he's goddamn right about it
Seth had Boseiju, what was he afraid of casting the Approach into?
You can exile spells or end the turn etc
Ok Crim wasn't bluffing he had Venser to bounce the spell back
Time stop, remand, mindbteak trap, summary dismissal for a few options.
@@seanv42 Remand wouldn't work (it only exiles if the spell is actually counter) but the other three are good points.
Thank God Phil brought Chandra lol
"Misery is on the menu" like every week
Mad respects to Crim for the Menzingers shirt!
what a twist ending!!
Loving the webcam games by the way. The games definitely move at a better pace than what MTGO allows with its outdated interface.
what a great episode, good job guys
That was such a great game to watch! :)
Watching seth bend his cards in frame hurt me personally
Haven’t even watched it yet. This is going to be a great game. Hitting the like button
Love the paper gameplay!
Thanks again
Finally, some real Pod Racing!
i feel like Lunar Force is extremely underrated. it did work
Seth you gotta play your commander!! Haha
I have a Dragonlord Ojutai deck made of only cards I've played in standard except lands and a couple mana rocks. She is such a blast to play.
"Trouble is Paris"
Fantastic content guys
Loved the game!
Tbf Crim didn't actually *Clash on!* He managed to fool Richard though.
Chrimium! Is this one tempo, too? Love my Chromium deck.
Am I the only person who misses MTGO? Honestly thought it gave the channel some charm because it was the only channel that used it and honestly the random bugs and crashes are probably frustrating for the players but it’s a fun bit of chaos.
I love this paper magic much more than mtgo
Huge props to @Niuttuc for editing this down to an hour!
Also, that Glacial Chasm into Price of Progress to win was pretty stylish!
I miss MTGO big time because of losing the hand camera, but this is the kind of episode we gain because of the switch. Someone would have timed out if you played this on MTGO and that never felt good.
I do miss the video being 3 hours longer so i could result experience the pain of this kind of match though. Lol.
Preach
Ah yes, MTGO commander videos, the most exciting way to watch four people wait for a computer to calculate a card
@@xchronox0 Ah yes, an idiot.
No one said it was more exciting. Who's watching commander content for excitement anyway. MtgO was technically more accurate and informative, grumpypants.
@@xchronox0You mean they get to banter and horse around? Maybe talk about their impressions of the set and their decks? Let a little personality shine through? Gosh, perish the thought.
@@tierfunmtg They can do the same without MTGO, and definitely do so during this video.
Had to look up how many cards started with the word "Teferi" in the decklists. There are 15. Seems like cards with his name might be a good include in control match ups.
Imo that's the best magic, interacting with your opponents. I'm curious to know how long was the unedited game.
i adore seths gold border basics
Seth has the real plan, get yourself eliminated first, This is a real War Games "The only winning move is not to play" kind of setup (Loved it to be clear)
Is there a story behind why Richard says Otawaroo instead of Otawara? Or is he just being wrong?
