      It depends on what you mean by taking some time. Meddling with a studio pro for about 2 minutes, once I realized what t dynamics do, I instantly found my tone. Every amp I go through with pretty much the same settings, add a little bass, cut a little treble, max out the mids and crank it. Can't go wrong with it.

Funny story: Once, as a favor to a friend who was an aspiring newbie bass player, we let him join us at practice. He had some shitty starter bass amp, and watching him play for his life and not a single note being heard vs. the drummer, 2 half stacks, and a loud-ass singer was pretty funny. Funny story #2: When we 1st started, our singer had no PA, so he sang out of his teal striped, "Scorpion-equipped" Bandit for a couple of weeks until he got the P.A. What can't a Bandit do, LOL?

  • @1monki

    Great overview of the t dynamics knob. Most demos I've seen of this amp have that knob set to 100%, effectively tuning out the tube dynamics unless you absolutely crank it. I would like to see some demos that get a compressed "clean" tone out of the amp by low input + some gain + adjusting the t-dynamics with a lowering the volume on the guitar. Might get some very nice tones.

    • @1monki
      @1monki Před 3 lety +1

      @@RegularGuitars I don't know that you'd have to get that loud. The t-dynamic knob is effectively letting you adjust the headroom on the amp--when it starts to brake. So plug into the low input, dial in a little gain, then dial down the t-knob until it compresses but doesn't really break too much. I wonder if you couldn't get a Fender Princeton kind of clean out of it. Maybe turn down the guitar to like 8, or something. It would be finding a balance between guitar output, t-dynamics and gain. But I would do it on the "dirty" channel so you have a master volume to keep things from getting too loud 👍

    I've always found Peavey amps to be great pieces of gear with quality sound at very reasonable prices. Had a KB 300 which was a solid workhorse. Although made as a keyboard amp it was much more versatile. It could handle just about anything I plugged into it. It is actually a 3 channel PA system. Channel 1 has both a balanced XLR mic input and a line level input. There is also a pre-EQ effect send / return insert on a TRS jack socket. With a 15" speaker and high frequency horn it covers a lot of ground. It is heavy, but this attests to how sturdy it was built.
    I also like the Peavey Transtube series for guitar. Used a couple different models and was very pleased. Great pedal platform for practice or performance.

      I just bought an Envoy 110, 40 watt transtube, no color stripe, only silver. being shipped now, dirt cheap. I believe it is first generation. Seller says all function is good. Can't wait. I am almost 60 and when I played rock and roll and blues on guitar with my high school/college mates in local clubs my first real amp was a Peavey Deuce II 110 watt with 4 tens. It would rock the club and the club down the street too. I have been out of the game for a long time for various reasons but have recently been collecting practice amps (Marshall, Black star, Peavey, vox and my old Crate I got to replace the Duece II way back.) And adding a few economical guitars to my few (recently a beautiful Epiphone SG, like the Gibson I had in the late 70's) to inspire me to get back in the game with friends who still play. I had the hots for a Fender champ. ("and a cheesey little amp, with a sign on the front said Fender Champ. And a second hand guitar, or was a Stratocaster with a whammy bar") extra points if you know the song. But I saw the Envoy 110 and thought that Mississippi Marshall will not come along very often and I can get a Champ anytime. I cannot wait for it to arrive!!! Thanks for your video!!!🎸🎸😎😎✌️✌️🤘🤘🤙🤙🍻🍻👍👍

    I always have Peavey gear in various applications, many haters where I came from haha but many compliments as well even by the haters 😆. So these amps are still a little boxy and fizzy sounding and in extreme (loud) conditions aka low tuned metal are just not going to do but put things where they fit. Try running these amps into a nice large sealed cabinet with darker speakers and Surprise! Tell your drummer and bass player with 3000watts and 4x15 cab to relax a bit 🥳. I even have played guitar through TMax bass amps, TKO, old studio Pro 112 (sounds like ass with SuperSat), Reknown, too many to remember the names of them all, Bass, keys, guitars. Had a silver stripe TransTube fail at a gig next to a Peavy Prowler tube amp as a stereo rig. The sound man was quick to address the effects loop and sure enough a few pokes of a cable into the 1/4 jack and away we went on to rock the house.
    A little cleaning and replacing mains filter caps or noisy fans and the gear just keeps on going !!! I love them, yes I have better gear tone wise but when you want a workhorse that sounds fine and can really dish out reliable performance, the made in USA has been super for me. As for the China stuff I can’t say except some of it is definitely not cool while others are still great, just expect the capacitors and switching power supplies to fail years sooner than the ancient Peaveys from the 80’s if so equipped.

      I haven't tried that one, but as far as it seems, it's like a Studio Pro 112 with a built in DSP with bank selectors, different preamp models and lots of stuff, kinda like the Johnson Millenium was with a built in Digitech 2112 and midi switching capabilities. $100 seems to be a really good price, I've seen some of those on reverb for 300 so my suggestion is to give it a try using the same advice on T Dynamics I give on this video.
      I think it could be way better than a Line 6 amp from the same era, so it's up to you to check it. If you get it it would be really nice if you upload a video because it's an not that well known amp.
      Good luck with it!

      I have a peavey transformer 112 and 212. I personally find them great sounding and very flexible. I feel that they are very good for practice as well as live use. I play country to Van Halen type rock. The 112 can keep up with a loud drummer. I run it on 2 or 3 with T dynamics around 3-5. With a loud drummer maybe 5 and 5 (and it would most likely be too loud for a gig in a medium venue nowadays). I agree with the author of this video. I feel the tone is superior to the line 6 of the era. Weighs 40 lbs. 100 dollars would be a steal. Especially with the footswitch. The only other pedals I use are a wah and a tuner into the front input. Cheers good luck

      You could get your money back on just the foot switch! I have the 112 I bought new back in 2001. I don't use it often but I can't part with it. It has plenty of great sounds as long as you are willing to do the work to set up your presets.

      It's a quite versatile amp tbh. If you need it to sound really clean, just crank the T dynamics and it wil sound really clean. If you need something like a metal tone, it has some voicings, but it's main strong point is that it's a good pedal platform

      @@jazznotes3802 Having a deluxe 5e3 and a champ 5F1 I can tell you that even tube amps don't sound quite well cranked. Transtube emulates a little bit a blackface deluxe, but yes, compression with t dynamics at minimum is a bit too much, but it gives a manageble volume at smaller gigs like pubs

I did buy a Hot Rodded Blues Junior Red Nova, hands down that is the finest sounding amp ever, they only made about 400 of this limited edition, if you ever find one buy it, truly it will be the greatest amp you ever got your hands on. I have gone through a ton of amps , and still own at least a dozen good ones. I'm just telling you for your own information , if by chance you locate one, BUY IT. It will blow your mind.
