I ran away with my friend while in Elementary school. I was around 9 yrs old. We were found walking & had no idea where we would go. A few neighbors located us & took us back home. I got a whipping and was forced to go back to school the next day instead of my parents figuring out WHY I ran away. So, salute to this Mommy for being loving enough to help this baby to understand responsibility and choices.😢❤

Oh boy, brings back memories. My daughter, 30 years ago, told me she was running away. Packed a bag. I opened the door for her as she walked out. She came right back crying. Her bag had a dress and patent leather shoes. I guess she was planning on going to a party…😉

This was about 45 years ago. One of my sons said he wanted to go. He was really small. I told him ok. But who’s going to help you take a bath? I said oh you won’t have a bathroom. Then who’s going to help you go to bed. I said oh you won’t have a bed. Then who will make you supper. I said oh no You won’t have a Mom anymore. He decided to stay. 😂😁. He is in his 30s now. My Dad was a single Father raising 3 kids on his own. After we searched for a friend of mine who ran away, I asked my Dad if he would search for me if I ran away. My Dad looked at me and said “You didn’t have to run away, you can walk. If you think you’ll have it better somewhere else, then go. At that very moment I realized just how good I had it compared to ALL OF MY FRIENDS, I laughed and replied “No thank you, I don’t EVER plan on moving out.” My Dad is and has always been the best! I thank God that he’s still here for me to show him just how much I love and appreciate him. He’s my best friend 🥰
My son ran away to Granny's house when he was 4, she lived in the apartment next door and we shared an indoor fire escape, he packed his cocoa, his cup, his teddybear and his pyjamas. All because his Grandmother is light skinned like him and mom and dad are darker so he thought we weren't his parents, Granny had to be his mom. 😂

Sometimes tough love teaches a valuable lesson, but this was so adorable I'm crying! (and slightly jealous lol)😂
When my son was little and threatened to run away I always reminded him to pack his underwear so I would not have to wash them. He never figured out that there would be no washing if he took them with him. He never did carry through with the running away part.

Did the same thing when my then 5 year old stated she was running away. Helped her pack, told her I loved her and would miss her and opened the door. She walked to the end of our walkway, stood there for a couple of minutes periodically looking back at the front door and then slowly turned and walked up the walkway and knocked on the door (she couldn’t reach the bell 😂😂😂). I opened the door and welcomed her back home with a hug and a kiss. 😂😂😂
