I think the reason why the last death told Puss to run was because the reason why he died in the first place was because he didn't run, and instead he stayed under the bell and it crushed him.
My favorite hidden detail is how you hear 8 bells in the beginning when he’s fighting the giant, and how he is drinking leche there’s 8 empty cups with one full before death shows up. The bell symbolizes his lives with the 8th one being the one he dies in. The empty cups symbolize his past lives while the full one is his last life left.
The scene may be short but the work took forever. Animation is incredibly time consuming and i bet most people who watched this movie didn’t appreciate that, as an example, giant rock monster fight scene as much as they should’ve tbh. I could write on forever about this movie and how good its made.

I guess the purple one is that puss only cared about himself and only loved himself with nothing else coming to his mind, with death in his place it's reinforcing that he too was always watching him, and that whatever may happen in one's life, he's the one people thinks about at the very end.

When puss counted his deaths to the doctor he said “i don’t know like 4?” And when death showed up in this scene, death points at 4 of Puss’ lives on his sickle. When he said “I was there for every single one of them”
I also like how when the purple crystal starts to shatter it makes an outline of a wolf skull, death is the grimm reaper who is often depicted as having a skull for a face
Death only appeared for Puss when he was in a situation where he could've died He appears replacing the last life Puss lost because Puss was in that cave considering going back to his old reckless ways, which would get him killed
The last one had death in it because that version of Puss was obsessed with himself. It was destroyed from the inside how to show/symbolize how being obsessed with your self can be your own downfall.
I also feel like the reason that Puss said "THAT'S CHEATING!" and Death breaks that crystal says "Shhhhh, Don't Tell..." is because Death probably wasn't allowed to appear in a physcial form and meddle with mortal lives until it really is their time. He said it himself that he chose to take matters into his own hands and take Puss' last life, so yeah, just my two cents to the bucket, that Death knew he was doing something out of line by some hugher power but knew he had to do it to teach Puss a lesson.

I think it's because purple crystal Puss was holding a mirror, Death literally replaced his face with his own like a reflection (also his head looks like a skull when the crystal starts cracking)
He was actually shushing puss because he isn't supposed to kill people. Just handle the dead. Which is why he was like "shh I'm cheating my whole job rn"
And in the crystal where Puss died drunk falling off a building, Death said that he was playing chase with Puss cause his fear was so intoxicating in an enjoyable way, then the soul said "wait, it is?!" before he destroyed it. Thats one of my favorite symbolism in the movie
He uses each of Puss's past lives depiction to kill them. Along with the ones you mentioned there's: 1. Death "I do love the smell of fear, it's intoxicating" Drunk Puss" it is?" 2. pushes buff Puss over with ease.
He also cheated by the fact that, in poker, he played a 5-card hand (which if you look at the other players hands - they’re all 2 cards), all 5 cards were aces… (there are only 4 aces in a deck…) and he *still* had another ace in his hat - this cat man… XD
to save your guys time, the reason death is in the purple one its to symbolize how being obsessed with yourself could lead you down a deadly/lonely path
It’s surprising that these details are being noticed months after the movie’s initial release. Half of 2023 is already over and we barely scratched the surface.
Don’t forget how Death shattered the crystal with the Buff Puss in it In that life Puss made some massive gains and eventually died by trying to lift massive weights without a stopper. The way death shattered that crystal was by effortlessly pushing it aside, as if weighed nothing to him.
