  • Hey Fellas,
    In this video series we will install the AEM Infinity ECU on Wratchet. I'm starting this from the beginning and I don't have a lot of experience with these. So these should be detailed videos showing the installation step by step.
    Listed below here I have part numbers of what I have used do far.
    30-7106 Infinity 506 ECU
    30-5603 CD-5L Carbon Dash
    30-3705 Wiring harness
    30-2060 Relay and plug

    Doug Bug, Looks like a nice Electronic Control Module System !!! You know with all the years I worked on vehicles diagnosing Powertrain Control Module ( Eng, Fuel and Trans) problems ('74-Present) I never experience installing one of this sys. The closest thing I've done is installing an electronic ignition sys which is half of the sys. With the ignition control and fuel control in one box, I am sure it would more painstaking. If there's one advice I can give you, because mistakes sometimes get expensive when dealing with electronics, do the carpenters Rule of Thumb. Measure twice or more and cut once, meaning double check your wirings before you turn the power on and make sure you ohm check every splice ( soldered ) you made. I'm looking forward how electronic tuning is done. I haven't done that also. Nice vid. All the best and be safe.

      Yeah it can get messy, but this is outdoor carpet. It's really thin, easy to clean, and really quiets the metal from oil canning.

    Another super helpful video from the bug builder. How does that work anyway? Is it like build a bear except with wings and thorax... I'm integrating a CD-7 into my megasquirt build pretty soon so well have to compare notes If I get stumped! :)

      You got the CD-7 nice! I don't know why I didn't go with the CD-7. But regardless, hopefully I'll power mine up soon. I'm still running wires and I had to purchase some shielded cable to extend the comm wires up to the dash.

    Do you have any concerns about moisture collecting in the ecm plug sense it will be facing up

    • @DougBugBuilder
      @DougBugBuilder  Před 3 lety +1

      No really, these plugs are all but watertight, and I'll have a cover over it when all done. Now that being said if I was expecting to constantly have this around wet conditions I probably would mount it on its side with the wires facing down. But aside from rain and getting washed, Wratchet won't see to much moisture.

    Does aem infinity ecu connects with devices via bluetooth like a tablet as a result of replacing analog gauges to digital ones via a tablet?..Im very curius cause im about to install the aem infinity ecu on my car and i got some gauges to install with and i wanted to know if u could have all the gauges on an screen

    • @DougBugBuilder

      I know you could do that with the AEM digital dash. As far as integrating into a tablet type device I'm not sure. Probably need to go direct to AEM for that.

      Although it's been out of stock for like a year. I don't know if it's an issue with the mfg. or just KarTek. I haven't looked around yet. This wheel actually is for Mauler, good ole Wratchet doesn't have his own steering wheel yet. 🤣

      @@DougBugBuilder hello Doug my first time commenting to your channel my name is Chuck love your videos
      I am a performance exhaust specialist/welder Fab guy with many years experience at a lot of shops throughout Orange county California. I used to share a shop with an Auto electrician electrician and if my memory serves me right the actual mounting and routing of the harness and hardware was always done last. With my luck if I were to finalize but the installation at this pointfor one reason or another I would end up having to move things shorten up wires lengthen wires but I'm trying to say is maybe it would be best to get the thing fired up end running first that way if anything is wrong with the system from the factoryit will be much easier to ship it back to them it's just a thought keep up the good work buddy you're awesome

    Why put carpet in an off-road vehicle? Seems like preparation for keeping things dirty? I’m sure you have a reason, just figured I’d ask.🤔

    • @DougBugBuilder
      @DougBugBuilder  Před 3 lety +1

      I don't like naked aluminum panels, they're so loud. Carpet is nice and quiet, and easier to work around. This is outdoor carpet so it's real thin, and you don't have to worry about it getting wet. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't carpet every panel I have, but I don't want to mount my electronics on a bare aluminum panel. Cleaning these can be done with a vacuum or just hosing it off, it's so this it dries real quick.

    • @DougBugBuilder
      @DougBugBuilder  Před 3 lety

      @@chuckingram5966 Yes, the ECU is completely sealed, it's watertight. The only concern is water getting in the plugs and shorting out. However these plugs are all but watertight too.

    I'm not sure there is a worse ECU to be honest. 1st one died, have all the time problems with the app(need to use win in ENG mode with usa setup etc), and there is no way to check oilt temp wirelessly from the ECU. And the idle calibration the worst on the market for sure. Oh and the data logging fucked up by date all the time. My biggest regrer .

    • @DougBugBuilder
      @DougBugBuilder  Před 4 měsíci

      I don't have enough experience with other brands to offer advice on that. My data logging has been really good, one of my favorite parts actually. But I agree with you on the idle control, that's hard to dial in.
