you are absolutely right....a past friend of mine is/was in debt $16,000 with investors. he spent this money on buying the most expensive studio monitors so he looks "legit" in IG posts, and bought expensive management to get directly connected to record labels. unfortunately he hasn't made his own music long enough to find his own style and isn't doing anything to make his sound unique or stand out. because of this...record labels aren't exactly immediately signing him even though he has a direct connection with almost any label. he posts a lot of stories and photos about how he's "making music" with usually no examples of what he's making....if he does show a sample of a song its very brief and doesn't give a potential follower the chance to hear what he's working on. main take away...don't try to skip ahead buying your way to the top. people see through a person trying to act like something they aren't and can't relate to someone who can't relate to themselves. be authentic and the followers will gravitate towards authenticity. I try to ask questions in my captions to make my content engaging, but it doesn't really gather responses - I think I need to improve on that and making engaging content haha :P
