For those English speaking folks written directions of this vid: -Make sure ignition key is in OFF position -Press & turn Hold trip odometer button in instrument cluster, and turn ignition key to ACCESSORY position. -Keep button pressed for approximately 5 seconds until either of following appear in display: OIL SERVICE or INSPECTION, with RESET. -Press button again & hold for approximately 5 seconds until RESET flashes. --Service due is shown with RESET if the measured consumption limit has been reached resetting is possible. If RESET is not shown, the minimum limit has not been reached & resetting is not possible. -While display is flashing, press button briefly to reset SII(Service Interval Indicator). -After display has shown new interval, the following will appear in display for approx. 2 seconds: END SIA. -Note: The system can only be reset again after the vehicle has been driven approx. 50 to 75 miles (consumes at least 2.5 gallons of fuel). If the display shows RESET when resetting, the minimum driving distance has been fulfilled and the system can be rest again. -It is possible to interrupt and end the reset procedure by changing the position of the ignition key.
If this does not work, unscrew the big bmw obd cap open under the bonnet, with ignition on 2, bridge pin number 7 to ground for 3 seconds (pin 19 is also a ground), then replace the cap and screw closed then the oil service should be reset, i did read if you bridged for 10 seconds it resets a different service warning but i just needed the oil reset, had to do it that way as the cluster does not have the reset option like in this video
This is not working for me, what can be wrong? I have a 06/97 523i RHD Manual with the same type of cluster. I press and hold the button while turning to pos 1, "__test __1._" comes on then goes back to km display, but after that i can keep holding it forever, the "rE Si A - 19 1" doesn't appear. My temp sensor is wrong and every time i turn key to pos1 a "-40,0C" appears, is that the problem?

Doesn’t the oil service indicator go by mileage only and not time when to change the oil?
