Thank you for sharing your story. Having just recieved this diagnosis myself I found it immensely helpful to hear your own experiences. I'll be having the procedure at Chris O'brien Lifehouse in March or April next year. Hope yours went well and you are on the road to recovery!
Hi. Yep everything went so well. The surgeons and staff at Lifehouse are incredible. You are in great hands. If you want to chat more about it, I'm happy to answer any questions, just shoot me a msg on IG @bytaralouise x
I had the same surgery and went through the scary and sad and then calm and happy it was just getting done. I am 3 months post surgery... what a journey... hope your doing ok!
I need to have a biopsy done on my lower jaw as they found a tumor he said I'll be awake can you please tell me how it feels is there any pain at all because I'm so scared right now I don't think I can go through with it as bad as it sounds I'm so frightened about it don't understand why I have to be awake when he's going into the bone anything you can tell me id be truly grateful for many thanks. x
@jetv6775 So sorry I didn't reply earlier. How did the biopsy results go? It's all so scary prior but I found myself more calm once the surgery was all said and done. I have uploaded part 3 you can find it on my page x
Thats a good way to explain the journey! I felt so calm once it was all done. I'm 3 months post now, I am still swollen which is annoying, I feel like a different person now. 😕 but I also feel like I'll be back to my "normal" self soon.
Hi Tara Thanks for letting me know about your progress. It was good to see you doing well. I just wanted to ask you whether you do any exercise for the jaw or anything to improve speech. I feel my tongue is heavy and my speech is slow and sometimes a bit slurred. How is your leg? I still limp a bit and the strength is still lacking. I am now 3 months post-op. Any advice for the speech?
Hi. So sorry i didnt see your comment till now! I didn't do anything particular for speech, it has certainly improved over time especially as i now have the second set of fake teeth (bridge) in which is slimmer. That alone has helped my tongue movement and articulating certain letters :D Oh my leg is fantastic! I'm now 8 months post op and finally have great strength again. It feels like its all back to normal. no issues with walking, no limp, no pain. In saying that, my ankle does feel a little weak from time to time if i move it the wrong way, or if im to active, so i just need to be mindful in how im walking sometimes. I still have swelling in my jaw unfortunately. Im doing lymphatic drainage massage and now wear a compression garment when im at home to assist in the fluid retention. Hope that helps and I hope your doing well x
Hi Tara It was really good to hear your story which helped me a lot before I had my surgery on 2nd November at the Lifehouse. Just wondering how you are doing post surgery?
Good job
Thank you x
