Lydia Mendoza is considered the leading pioneer Tejano recording artist and the most enduring performer in the history of Mexican-American music. Born in Houston to parents who fled the chaos of the Mexican Revolution, she is one of the most important figures responsible for the popularization of Mexican-American music in the United States. Lydia performed for thousands of fans, who came to love her as a songstress of the people. She was billed as "La Alondra de Ia Frontera," the Meadowlark of the Border.

I was fortunate to have been in the audience that evening. This may have been Lydia's last public performance, which makes her second song even more poignant. I had spoken with her and her sister earlier that day and she told me she didn't think she would be able to perform. But with a little bit of coaxing, she managed to get on the stage to perform these two songs.

Si, es lo mismo. Debe recordar a la La Sra. Mendoza tenía más de 60 años entre su grabación de "Mal Hombre" y esta actuación, y también había sufrido un derrame cerebral 10 años antes. ¡Espero poder sonar tan bien como 83!
