  • I loved Pai so much I extended my stay to ten nights. See the natural beauty of the hills and canyons, as well as what the cute town has to offer. Filmed in July 2022 as part of my Thailand series.

    I am in Pai right now, one of my favorites in all of Thailand. The town is nestled among the mountains and it has an amazing atmosphere.

    Congratulations on a job well done. You have made me add Pai to the travel list! I like your style & consistency in clueing in the audience of pricing & amenities (like the air con in your accommodations) looking forward to seeing more!

    Your minibus driver seemed chill. We did a visa run to Penang from Surat Thani and about 2 hours from the Malaysia border we were passed off to another minibus. This guy drove like Fast & Furious and the entire time it felt like the front wheel was going to wobble off the axle. What an experience lol

      Haha yes, total luck of the draw. Half the time you're just praying you wind up going in the right direction. Makes for some fun stories at least! :)

    Really well done. Your video makes me want to go there. I'm revisiting Chiang Mai in February and I may include Pai for a few days. I'm just worried that everything will look brown then because it'll be the dry season.

    • @LeighsOffBackpacking

      Thank you! Yes, be careful to avoid the burning season so you don't have to breathe in smoke while you're visiting - get there as early in the year as you can!

    Hello, I’m sure you get this question a lot, but Thailand and the surrounding areas in July and August, how is it dealing with the “rainy season” doesn’t look so rainy

    • @LeighsOffBackpacking
      @LeighsOffBackpacking  Před rokem

      I had no problem, most storms were very short lived. There was often a bit of rain around early evening, but it passed quickly and cooled things down a bit. I would just keep an eye on which parts of the country (if any) are getting longer (full day) storms, you can always amend your travel schedule if needed if you don’t book your accommodation too far in advance. I almost never booked more than a few days ahead.

    So beautiful 💓💓
    Was rain a bother? Or its all good as long as we are prepared with raincoats?

    • @LeighsOffBackpacking
      @LeighsOffBackpacking  Před rokem

      It wasn’t an issue, as it was usually a quick storm or overnight rain. I have a cheap small poncho and that was plenty

    How was the motorbike rental? Do you have an international driver license? I have been told that the police ticket tourist pretty hard. Going there in 5 days so just wondering?

    • @LeighsOffBackpacking
      @LeighsOffBackpacking  Před rokem

      I know there was lots of ticketing going on in Chiang Mai but I didn’t see it in Pai. I have an international drivers license but it only is valid if your home country license is valid for motorcycles too (not just cars). From my experience the overwhelming number of people drive without proper licenses, but that’s a risk you have to weigh for yourself. Definitely wear a helmet and closed toe shoes if you do ride though, I’ve seen some rough motorbike injuries in the five months I’ve been out here.

      I have another video that shows a bit of what it’s like riding in Pai and just outside Pai on my way to a waterfall in the area. Feel free to check out the conditions. I made sure to go slow and on a sunny day. Was an incredible ride. czcams.com/video/GvjUUW6ZQKc/video.html
