Agreed, i think the previous owner changed the oil in the damper with a heavier one. The stock oil Suntour uses in their damper is a very thin clear oil almost like baby oil. anything over 5w is not advisable
Well, they would not give me the info on oil viscosity or the oil viscosity .I’m about 100% certain the damper never been open.. multiple comments agreeing that the fork is harsh. Been running a bunch of experiments changing and it just wildly changes.
Agreed it is very hard to find manuals for Suntour. M not sire if maybe Suntour has inconsistencies with the oil they use different batches. Just like you I also had to do a full break down and took note of everything and compared them to the fox. Also did experiments with fork oil and ended up using maxima plush 2.5w....oh and be careful with keeping the bike upside down...the damper seems to leak when the fork is upside down for a long time...this may cause an airlock
Im planning on buying can someone give an alternative that is also 38 mil stanchion
My friend's durolux38 r2c2 fork does not sound like that. I think the rc2 damper is Suntour's 2nd best damper.
Do you use Rockshox foamrings or are they stock? In my Auron 35 there are very thin foam rings.
Why would they not provide the info at least in video form, what's up with that?
Hopefully my video stir the pot and then makes some. I have no clue why no repair manual. Some brands higher ones won’t release the repairman because I don’t want people screwing their stuff up.
If you are a "cheapskate" don't buy Fox (branded) oil, buy Motorex. They are the same (in most cases).
Whatever brand you can check for low sulphur content synthetic oils...
🧐 is that the issues now? As far as causing havoc inside the the fork?
I’d never buy a fork that sounds like that
Tel your friend to jump on the fork on the pavement to check. It didn’t rattle to bad on the trail
Awesome video! I can tell that you enjoy the process of getting the most out of budget equipment
