Thank you guys for being here today! I'm trying something completely new, and I'm signing up to do our small town farmer's market! I will be selling antique and vintage pieces that we no longer need in our home, and I'm looking for some fun pieces to fill out our booth.
If you aren’t paying monthly for a booth in a mall then I wouldn’t worry about making 3 times what you paid for an item. That is actually pretty hard to do. I have an antique booth that I pay rent for and commission so I do have to be careful. Sometimes though I feel lucky if I can double my money. You will eventually get a feel for how to price things and what is actually going to sell for you. Don’t get discouraged. Much of the time I’ve noticed people start out asking too much for their items. I would start somewhat low and then after you get a feel and build up a base you can increase prices gradually. Have fun!
I agree with this. I resell online and with fees and everything I’m happy to get just double what I paid for something.
My husband carries a handkerchief on daily basis. He just prefers them. I prefer accidentally washing a hankie left in a pocket to washing a wad of Kleenex, so it works out. Ladies used to carry them and some of them were quite lovely. I have seen buntings/banners made out of vintage ones.
Mark your items up higher than you think you can get for them. You will be surprised what you can get. Plus you can negotiate 👍 I've had an antique booth for years and its a good system.
Then there’s people like me who’s too afraid to even try to negotiate and make someone mad and just buy it at the price lol
Hey Kristin! Keep the ironing board! You can take the cover off of the ironing board and use it to sit framed photos or houseplants on it.
Beautiful items ! I' d say totally keep the rug if you need it .Pray that the Farmers Market goes well❤
I use the small strainer for sprinkling powder sugar in cakes or straining loose leaf tea! Wishing you the best at the Farmers Market hope you do well!
Oh I love the floral side of that quilt 🌺🌸🌼
You will have a fun time at the market!! I love the little ironing board. I think the way things are displayed will help with selling. Just a thought.
Hope you have a great impact in the community and meet new people. Also blessings on all the sales you make. It will be good!
I loved the strawberry 🍓 picture. I believe it would have sold in your booth.
I thought the same thing too! I know vintage samplers are always so popular ! Definitely would have sold!
Agree! There's something about strawberries and that was a beautiful handmade piece of art. I would've grabbed it as well. Probably would've kept it for myself.
Hope the market goes great! Enjoy!!!
I adore old linens and have been picking them up for years. They are so beautiful. I have 4 girls and I used fishing line to string them like banners in their rooms. They’re easy to switch out and I get to enjoy all the beautiful hand work.
What a cute idea, Pamela!
Yes wedding ring quilt ❤very pretty
Good luck on your Farmers Market. Look forward to hearing how it goes.
Hi Kristen, So bummed, I haven't been able to see you're videos for awhile! So happy to see you're beautiful kind face! Wonderful items! You will do awesome at the Farmers Market!
Little strainer for straining tea or sprinkling powdered sugar. Nothing gross about using a hankie! 😊
Oh my goodness, if my friends and I saw your booth at a Farmers Market, we would LOVEEEE it! I think this will be a beautiful thing for you!
I hope so!
The little sifter is for powder sugar. Keep the quilt it so pretty and I have had no luck finding any. I want to display them on a vintage ladder with throws too.
You are amazing and I believe you can do anything!! Believe in yourself and let who you are as a person take over...the sky is the limit you have what it takes! Love you❤
The farmers market is a good idea. I’m planning to do the same thing. Here where I live the farmer’s market will only let you sell vegetables and crafts. I think selling vintage items sounds like a great idea. Great video.
Keep the hankies!! I always have a stash, it makes for a cute thoughtful gift for a bride, brides mother or new mom. ❤
Good luck on your Farmers Market sales. I'm sure you'll do well. People will be drawn to you because of your smile and warm personality. 🌞
Thank you so much, Susan!
Kristen - good luck at the Market - sounds fun! The little baby quilt might also be used for a wall hanging and that floral print is sort of the new grandma chic rage. That little strainer could be used for dusting powdered sugar. I’m sure you will have some good laughs!
What a sweet video you put out today! Your farmer’s market booth is going to do so well, I know it!😊
Thank you so much, Sandy!
Kristen, you are so cute! Lol When I buy something to resell, but start liking it..I have to tell myself that I will always just try to sell it and if it doesn't sell, it's all mine! Lol it helps me to let go a little and make money without risk because I know my purchase will go to use either way. I purposefully will try to purchase items I love for reselling because if I end up with it, it won't bother me and my home. Sometimes, I buy it and enjoy it till its time for the sale. It's like renting! Lol
It's like a discipline and a deal I make with myself but it has helped me a great deal.
A friend that is a reseller does what she calls rotating. If she really likes item she keeps but removes something else. When she tires of something she then sells it.
Hi, the little strainer is for straining tea. I'm going to do the flea market in Underwood, Ia. June 10th for the same reason you are doing the Farmer's Market! It's been going on for 9 years but this is my first time to do it. I live in Omaha and attend a Pentecostal church. So enjoy watching you. Would be neat to get together some time and share ideas and knowledge. God bless your adventure at the flea market and I pray you will do well.
I managed a thrift store and we would shop garage sales and goodwill for wood items, chalk paint them and sell them for more than 3X the cost. It would be a fun summer activity for your girls to do with you. One coat, no sanding or primer. Off white sold really well. You can distress them with sandpaper if you like. It is really fun and easy.
Good idea!
You can remove the stains from the pillow cases with dawn dish soap and baking powder; make a paste, soak, then launder. Or sell them as is and tell them this info.
You found some wonderful items, Kristen! Regarding the vintage linens, I must be an old soul, because I love them. I keep a couple of vintage hankies in my purse because they're beautiful and useful. There are times when I need a hankie and if folks want to think I'm "old fashioned" then so be it. When I was a kid, my mom always kept her hands busy in the evenings by taking the ordinary things and making them beautiful by sewing, embroidering or crochet. I still have a few of the things she made. I can't part with them because number one, she made them, and number two, I know the hours she put into creating them. So, when I find extraordinary linens that I know are handmade, I will get them because I can't stand to think of them ending up at the landfill. I enjoy your channel and am excited for you in that you're trying something new with the Farmer's Market. Go for it and see where it leads!
They really are beautiful!
I watch Nicole Northgardens channel and she used a spoon display holder to display her vintage handkerchiefs it looked great 🤩
I have a wooden ironing board that's probably 60 years old. I have used it for the obvious, ironing, but as the years have gone by and I got a bigger metal one, I have used it for a plant stand and also for a baby shower serving station. Pretty versatile item actually.
As far as pricing tag everything what you know it's worth, you can tell customer's you can do a little better on the price if they really want it! That's what has worked for me, hope it helps. Please wear the hat it's perfect for the advent and you look beautiful!
I’m sure someone would like the thread rack…even with a missing peg…it could be fixed easy! The quilt is called a “Double Wedding Ring” and that particular quilt looks to be one that was purchased in a department store…most likely not homemade…but still pretty! Have fun! I hope you show some video of your booth!
I’ve seen where crafty people take handkerchiefs and make them into angles to hang on Christmas trees. Just a thought.
The small quilt is for a wall. It would be lovely in a bedroom. I have one hanging in my bathroom and in my laundry room covering a metal door of the electric panel.
The ironing board would be so fun for the girls to play with I think!!
Sometimes fur sells really good even with holes and blemishes. Love you and your channel ❤
You will do great, because you have a great attitude and faith in the Lord.
That small strainer is used to strain Indian tea booked in milk and spices such as ginger, cardamom, cloves , pepper etc. Our mornings start with that strainer
Love your channel and energy. Very inspiring. Your finds are exciting. Thanks for sharing I love seeing what other people find.
Thank you, Connie!
@@KristenHoffman Your very welcome. Can’t wait to see more
I love watching you at the bands were at the thrift store I love how you choose things you choose everything that I would like to get thank you for what you do
You have some great items to sell! Good luck!
Maybe your girls would want to play with that cute ironing board. I have mine from when I was a little girl still. My mom use to put up a little wash line outside for me and I’d wash my doll clothing and hang it up and then pretend to iron it. Hours of fun outside. I have a little mini laundry basket too. Felt like Laura Ingalls and was a great memory. Love your channel!
How cute!
I loved everything you got at the outlet ! I hope you share your experience at the farmers market in a video! And I hope you are successful!
We totally use hankies in our house!! I didn’t know people didn’t 😂. My little girls prefer receiving blankets because they’re soft.
Keep the hankies 😍 great haul lovely. I love your gingham shirt too x
This was a fun episode, I always enjoy your channel, I hope you do well and have fun with the Farmer's Market.
Thank you so much, Cinder!
Love this❤ it’s right down my alley
Good luck, hun! I think it’s so cool you’re trying something new and find it inspirational. I have a tiny channel, and I’ve been thinking of trying going to our local elephant trunk flea market to sell this summer even just for the experience. I love your channel and all your finds. Keep going, keep trying. 💕💕💕
You are going to have so much fun 💛💛💛💛💛💛
My husband loves a hanky. And my son too. ❤❤
Good luck on your booth! I think you are going to enjoy it and make money too! I just opened a small antique booth and I love it! It also helps provide for my family! Please update us!
You have a lot of great items for your Farmers Market booth!!!
I hope you give us a peek at your booth at the market. Looks like fun!
love this
That high chair will make a good plant stand.
Hi Kristen. Great finds. Have fun on your new adventure at the farmers Market ❤
Thank you so much, Deborah!
The muffin tin would look cute with tea lights in it.
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND! Hoping you guys do well at the Farmer's Market. STTB
I don't want to sound ugly but I always find it strange to wish someone a Happy Memorial Day. I know you are wishing Kristen a good weekend but Memorial Day is for remembrance of the fallen.
@@susanhauke8164 ABSOLUTELY! I AM HAPPY BECAUSE OF THE FREEDOMS THAT THEY ALLOWED US
Great finds! Amazing prices. Good Luck selling it! I love seeing the stuff you find!!!!!
Thank you so much, Rachelle!
I hope you have success with your farmers market booth 🙏😇💕💕💕👋🇨🇦
Thank you so much, Jennifer!
The smaller quilt isn't a baby quilt it is a lap pad. Many ladies make them for nursing homes. Of course you could use it for a baby quilt!! You are so cute!! You could make friends in the middle of a riot...oh perish the thought💜
On the wood rack, cut off a peg on the other side of that row to balance the number and make it look intentional. I have started using hankies. I have such pretty ones. I carry one in my purse at all times, reminds me of my grandmother. They are so pretty, the ones with the needlework.
Best wishes on this endeavor.
Use that ironing board for a display item to put things on! Definitely eye catching
I think I just might!
I use that little strainer 4 times a day lol. I drink French pressed coffee and I put the strainer over my cup when I pour my coffee into it, to catch any coffee grounds that might come thru. I also use it to sprinkle powdered sugar on sweet treats. It’s very handy!
Good idea, Debi!
Good luck with the Farmers Market booth Kristen. That’s going to be a fun video to watch. I would keep that stunning quilt for your bed and use it during the winter months. It matches your home decor and colour palette so beautifully.
I just might!
All beautiful items. I wished I lived close so I could shop at your booth ❤
Use the spoon rack for the hankies.
I collect beautiful linen handkerchiefs! And I use them daily
It was such a deja vu to see the toy ironing board. I'd totally forgotten about the one I had as a very small child. It didn't have the padding, of course, but it did have those notches on the bottom to stand it up. I had a toy red and silver iron too. Thanks for jogging my memory. Funny about the hankies. My cousin brought me some from France a few years ago and I used one just yesterday. I was at an outdoor wedding (with the same type of runny nose you have) and it was the only thing that fit in my very small purse.
I love that about vintage pieces!
I have a huge collection of hankerciefs.. love them! I do carry them in my purse because i am a total " drip".. just like my mama... But ive also stitched them together to make a curtain.. a bed skirt.. that bundle looked sturdier.. were they napkins maybe? I also buy cotton napkins . Canr wait to hear all about the farmers market.. maybe eventually you can sell mason jar florals from rhose seeds your planting! Best of Luck and more than that.. have fun!!!
They are beautiful!
Hankies aren't gross!!! They're cute and practical and washed daily etc they're awesome! I always have one in my pocket for wiping the kids noses and no one has ever judged me! Haha
I've been using them!
The small ironing board is a find! The strainer was used in our 50s home for straining loose leaf tea, and the rack with missing spindle is for large spools of thread for serger machines.
If only I drank tea!
I love the ironing board! That thread holder can be fixed easily. The strainer is for tea. I use hankies, I have some vintage ones that I’ve collected and some new I’ve bought to use. My dad always used handkerchiefs. I think more ppl use them than you think. Especially with the cost of tissues going up. Good luck at the farmers market!! Have fun.
I started using the hankies!
@@KristenHoffman They come in handy with kids too!😂 I remember being at church and my son sneezing and sneezing and saying mama I need your hanky!😂
Girl....... You have given me another idea for a quilt! The vintage white quilt would be amazing to make! I use my sewing machine, not by hand. I think I'm going hunting for vintage white pillowcases now!!!!!! That vintage ironing board is awesome!!! I would buy it from you in a heartbeat but I live in Florida.
Make it!
I think the strainer might be for a tea bag? Like sitting over a cup? I could be wrong lol. I can’t wait to see your farmers market set up!
If only I drank tea!
Too Fun 🤩 So Excited for you and your little Booth! Can’t wait to see what you do… no pressure haha!
Your so funny watching you want to keep everything instead of for the booth, but I’d totally pull that too honestly. Good luck with everything… & Hey, use the darn hankies haha 🤍🌿
Wish I lived closer so I could come to your vintage booth
You could use that tobacco basket to put apples in! It’s a cute, smaller size. Adorable find!
What a great idea!
You seem to love your little wooden spool holder so much. You could buy a dowel to match the size of the others and cut off the excess.
I would totally keep the child’s ironing board, but I have a collection of old irons, both adult size and child size.
So cool!
You could use a baby quilt as a wall hanging.⛵️🇺🇸
I use hankies from various great-grandparents. : )
cool!
Every lady should carry a handkerchief!
The small quilt would be a lap quilt. I make them a lot for people as gifts sense it’s quick lol
Good idea!
I hope you do well. People will love meeting you.
Thank you so much, Linda!
I would try to replace the rung and stain it to match on the high chair. You could hang the muffin tin on a kitchen wall or put some little fake succulents in it.
Cut the racks other peg on opp side half way and put the half you cut off on the missing side, itll look like its meant to be like that and itll look better anyway 😁
You should have got those little crocks and the little rocking chair for kids, so cute! Sometimes you might get more $ for one item than another so it all balances out so don’t be afraid to get something if it’s a little bit more because another item might be free or ridiculously cheap. There’s nothing wrong with making money AND being in the community, I’d price it according to the going rate on items. Don’t be too cheap, it’ll take a lot of work to keep stocking a farmers market. I would also just grab a couple of dowels and repair the highchair and that peg hook thing you bought. When you can help support your family it’s a good thing and you can also bless others with tithe
They were so cute!
I wish you sold your finds online! I love your style and I would give my left arm so to speak for the framed star quilt piece and the “M” hankie! ❤
I wish I had the time and experience to sell online!
I use hankies all the time.
My Mom used that small strainer when she made iced tea. She bought tea that was lose and not in tea bags, so she had to strain it.
Things like the iron board and cup holder you can keep to use to display other things at each event?
It is a wedding ring Quilt.
That is our song, we play it often
The ironing broad be cute in your booth to display linens on it for sale and the highchair your getting rid of would be cute to use as a toddler chair when your little one out of that stage 🤗
Great idea, Paula!
Use the old high chair as a plant stand
That isn’t a baby blanket… it’s a wall hanging. The rack is fixable with a wooden dowel…cheap too. You have to think outside the box! Good luck
I actually prefer hankies, they are easier on my nose. Lol. Best of luck at the farmers market, the items you picked up should do well.
I don't mind them!
