  • After 4 month of testing the Starlink RV version I modified it. Out of the box it was not designed to be permanently mounted on RVs. Now it is, same height as my solar panel. While I was at it I also intalled a weboost cell signal booster.
    Here are some parts I used:
    FastCap Accuscribe Scribing Tool , Black
    a.co/d/dK6T1Mt
    Preamer 6pc HSS Routing Router Bits Burr with Drill Carving Rotary Locator Set Suit Most Rotary Tool
    a.co/d/fz7prz3
    STL file for Weboost RV antena mounting sleeve

    Great job. The 5200 will cure stronger than the Starlink housing itself. It’s very permanent!

    I would ditch the weboost and get one of the Peplink external antennas. They work amazingly well and cover the 5G spectrum. :)

    How's the metal plate holding up? Any rust or things you'd do different? Very good video!

      Thanks. Metal plate is holding up well. I used what’s called a diamond plate sheet aluminum I think, no rust.

    Thanks for the good video and congratulations on the set up. I got star link and was contemplating the Wii boost but it seems I could just make phone calls with a voip app. Do you or anyone else see issues with that thought?

    • @pacificmeister
      @pacificmeister  Před rokem

      Agree. I should have probably skipped the weboost. Didn’t have to use it yet. So far Starlink worked well, also while driving. But then, good to have options.

    Hey mate. Nice work. Question about the 3M 5200. Is it still pretty strong? No issues with UV?

    • @pacificmeister

      Yes, I thought about that. The cable grommet is not 100% super tight and it breathes.

      I believe the cent holes are just for the motor compartment which is fully sealed from the PCB area.

    Just curious if you use any security cameras at your house, just cause if you use your van for internet, while you are away traveling in your van you won’t be able to view cameras at home.

    • @pacificmeister
      @pacificmeister  Před rokem +1

      True. So far I haven’t cut the home cable yet. Hope that Verizon 5G home access service will soon be available in my area, that is cheaper than cable and good enough.

      @@pacificmeister gotcha, yeah I figured there are a few ways around it, just curious if you had a plan or something else up your sleeve that others hadn’t thought of. But it only makes sense to utilize starlink while the van is there!

    Good job getting rid of that pesky self aligning motorized system. What were they thinking when they designed the panel to keep proper alignment to the geosynchronous satellites. Maybe next time put in a large skylight and keep the motor, so it works.
