    I love walking and agree with you that small changes can result in much bigger change because it's easier to stick to the new habits. I haven't checked my steps in a while, but I just did: I currently average around 5-6k steps a day. It used to be more but I've had foot surgery in September and I'm just starting to build up muscles again since October. Walks that are too long still tire me out but I will try to be more intentional with getting a bit more steps in 🚶‍♀

      Good on you for still trying to get moving after the surgery! Wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️

    Great work, inspiring attitude, and super relatable. Keep going just a little further each day. 1% better every day means massive improvement in a year.

    I think that it will better to go out. Trying to walk in my clutter, you’ll stumble, unexpectedly fall and hit your head Poppy. It was so good to finally see you in your new channel! Xx

    On my personal fitness journey - which started on retirement - so a good bit older than you - I found that exercise works for body shape and motivation and diet works for losing weight. Unfortunately I don't lose much weight through exercise but it is nevertheless very important in seeing the benefits of the 'lose weight - get fit' routine and so for motivation to do the diet.

      Absolutely agree, exercise offers other benefits to your heart, moods, hormones, longevity, etc and not just for weight loss purpose.

    I’m currently trying to do 20k steps a day at home on my walking pad. It’s funny how tiring it is, but I’m liking the challenge and I know it’ll lead to some good outcomes! I’ve been inconsistent throughout April, but am going to try and do the next 30 days straight.

    I do 8-10k steps and I have a desk job (software developer), maybe it's just that i walk around a lot + the commute 😂 but i don't think it's the same as taking a whole walk, at least it's not showing on my body (considering that i also workout with weights 3 times a week) 👀

      Hey this is the exact one I use Scales for Body Weight Body Fat Scale, Lepulse Large Display Digital Bathroom Scales Smart Weighing Scales Body Weight Scales BMI Bluetooth, High Accurate 15 Body Composition Scales with App amzn.eu/d/5z4oOAn
      I know these scales are never 100% accurate but they're good for you to track trends x

    I lost a lot of weight in 2020 when i started walking on my terrace for 45 mins everyday because of the COVID 19 induced cabin fever. Unfortunately, i didn't keep it off and gained all of it back. I have started walking again but haven't been counting my steps. How many minutes of walking does it require to hit 7500 steps?

    • @reinventingpoppy
      @reinventingpoppy  Před 6 měsíci +1

      it depends on the speed as well for me I reckon it'd take around 45 - a little over 60 minutes to get to 7500 steps.

    Hi Poppy how did you measure your fat & muscle %?

  • @jadepetith5411
    @jadepetith5411 Před měsícem

    Only about 5/6000 steps a day, would like to do more but i have some back issues. So i just tidy up, go to the bathroom, get a glass of water, and walk around the house too.

    I have a problem because I have to eat everything from the recipes I make for my channel. 😁
    Exercise is very good for your health, but it won't help you lose weight according to Herman Pontzer in his book.
    He says, “Your brain is very, very, very good at matching how many calories you eat and how many calories you burn,” Pontzer, an associate professor of evolutionary anthropology at Duke University, told TODAY.
    “The person who has a sedentary lifestyle and the person who has the active lifestyle will burn the same number of calories.”
    How does Pontzer know? He studies the Hadza people of Tanzania, hunter-gatherers who walk for miles every day foraging for food. They’re incredibly physically active, moving more in a day than most Americans do in a week, so Pontzer and his colleagues were sure they’d be burning a crazy amount of calories. Yet when the researchers measured how much energy the Hadza burned, it turned out to be the same amount as sedentary urbanites in the West."

      That very interesting. Hence why I don't really want to solely focus on the weight loss. There is so much more to us humans than calories, there is hormones, moods, metabolic health.. the whole topic is so interesting though.
