    With our horse world shrinking, it's terrific to see a thriving breeding ranch.

    The chestnut with the white spots. I've got a mare like that, her pasture name is Nightmare. The first two weeks after she foals, you don't step between her and her baby. If you do, she'll see if she can make you into human pate'. After two weeks, you can do what you want. She was a great momma. She's 31 this year, just living a horse's life now, hanging out with friends.

    someone should do a full-length documentary on this subject because trying to piece together what this actually looks like is difficult. people make tons of videos about little bits of the subject but would really love to see what this looks like day in and day out over the course of three to five years. talk to the viewer as if they don't already know what's going on. So many questions

    • @henryhenry3832

      Dawn Hansen lol you are so clueless it’s not funny, those horses are way to valuable to go for slaughter, they will go into training and then sent to what ever program they seem best suited for, then kept for showing and breeding or sold to other people for pleasure riding, showing, breeding or just as pets, you can’t even sell a horse for slaughter in the USA anymore.

    • @onegoodgait
      @onegoodgait Před 4 lety

      Bullshit.. 125,000 horse's are sold
      Each year here in United States to
      Kill buyer's and shipped to Mexico or Canada For Slaughter.. and don't try and say they are valuable, because champion horse's have been Found in kill auctions, and TB that have sold for Millions have been Slaughtered!
      Just like Ferdinand, he was one of the greatest racehorses of our time he sold 4 almost 10 million dollars he won the Preakness and that horse was butchered and slaughtered in a slaughterhouse in Japan so don't give me your horse so valuable the most slaughtered horses are quarter horses, then thoroughbreds it's because you people over breed

    • @littlereach5859
      @littlereach5859 Před 4 lety +2

      Some r sent 2 slaughter houses but not these
      These r bred way 2 good to slaughter
      Some people do overbreed,but not 6666

    • @onegoodgait
      @onegoodgait Před 4 lety

      @@littlereach5859 Wrong.. if they don't sell them they send them off to the kill pens go look at all the kill pens with really nice registered horses so don't get bought then they get shipped, go look at Bowie auction horse page they have super nice horses there and those all come from ranches like this and even says if they're not bought they ship

    Do you think those shanks are long enough? Need them long to create the maximum amount of leverage, to make the horse 'listen'? (sarcasm)

      The fist I learned about when I got my horses is bits, and a old time horse trainer told me that long shank bits are very severe and the rider does not have a soft hands. So Gary is right.

      @@dianereiser6417 Thanks. If one watches the horse and understands the horse's language (body language), the horse will 'tell' a person if the device (bit) is causing pain or if there is unnecessary discomfort.
