  • IKEA EKET Quick build and Wall Mounting
    I build the IKEA Eket wall unit and im mounting it to the wall with a step bu step guide.
    I bought 4 different color wall units from IKEA and the model is Eket, these shelves dont need tools to assemble but if you want to mount them on the wall you will need a drill, screwdriver and spirit level.
    THIS is a IKEA EKET quick build video
    These IKEA EKET shelves are very easy to build and can be made within minutes but make sure you make them on a solid flat surface or the plastic clips will break if the floor is un even.

    what colors have you bought ?

      I've bought and assembled 7 of these, ready to mount onto 2 walls but the assistant in Ikea said each box needs a separate wall bracket (£5) Is the way you have mounted them not going to put a lot of strain on a flimsy piece of 2mm backing? I am because fitting them with the brackets x getting to get them all perfectly aligned looks like it's going to be a total bollox of a job. 😕

    • @drasticg
      @drasticg  Před 6 lety +1

      +Harry McMahon I'm not putting much wait in the shelves but if you are I'd recommend the brackets and someone to help hold these up while you mark and drill good luck

      drasticg Yeah, just got them all mounted today. I used the brackets but mine will probably still fall down lol

    • @apsilonblue
      @apsilonblue Před 6 lety +2

      They're actually pretty easy. Each box comes with a template so all you do is tape the templates to the wall in the arrangement you want and mark all the holes to drill. As long as you drill where you mark they'll be aligned correctly. If you want to further lock them together you can also get little clips that go behind them and connect one to the other. I'd recommend using the wall mounting brackets if you're going to hang them.
      The way drastig has mounted them is actually using the pieces that are intended to stop them toppling forward if yo have a stack of them for example. It's not really meant to be the way they're secured to the wall.

    Yesterday I put together an Ikea Eket cabinet with 4 compartments and found you have to follow the instructions very precisely. Since the drawing is not all that clear I’ve set out the steps bellow.
    1) Find the top part of the cabinet, which is the part marked with a number 1.
    2) Add a side piece to the top to form an ‘L’ shape, ensuring the groves line up.
    3) Find the parts that make the cross that divide the cabinet and act as shelves, once made connect this to the ‘L’.
    4) Next, this is the important part; add the second side to the cabinet, again ensuring the groves line up. So now you should have a cabinet with a top, two sides and the dividers fitted.
    5) Fit the rear panel into the slots ensuring that the join in the panel runs parallel to the cabinet top.
    6) Now the final piece, the base of the cabinet, will fit easily.
    7) Stand the cabinet on its base to allow the back panel to slide into the bottom grove.
    8) Finally fit the plastic lugs the hold the back panel firmly in place.
    If you accidentally fit the bottom before the second side you will never get your cabinet to fit together. Hope this is of some help.
