- One button away from a better launch! Yep, I installed an MSD two step rev controller. This will pair well when I get my trans brake later this year. My 1968 Ford Thunderbird is a blast to drag race and I am always looking for ways to improve it. The 521 cubic inch big block Ford makes a ton of power and I want to get the launch perfect! Part of that is installing a two step and I got mine from Holley. I already have the MSD 6AL ignition and a Hurst shifter with a button on the pistol grip, so this will be a breeze. I have provided links below for the products I am using. In this video I explain what a two step does and also how to install it. Stay rowdy my friends!

Nice install, Jeff. Looking forward to next years test sessions and races.
You and me both! I have a transbrake coming and some other transmission goodies too!
Good stuff Jeff....Its nice to see a quality build with quality products....MSD is what i run....7AL3
thanks man!! I just ordered a ton of goodies for my transmission. I am completely redoing it. Some of the parts coming are a transbrake, better clutches/steels, and a new planetary low gear set with a much stronger drum.
Nice and simple straightforward install brother ✌
You got that right my friend
Yep that is pretty Kool! U did a great job on how 2 install MSD 2 step. Now clean up that wiring. 🫣😂
That's the plan! Ha!!
After racing Beep Beep I will for sure be installing my 2step and finally try my transbrake. Got a 3 step plan to try and get to 6.6 N/A. My mph in the 1/8 is already promising. I even might mini tub….😅
you will get there no problem!!!! even though you will smoke me, we still need to race, ha!
Ready to step out
Hahaha!! Yep!!
Nicely done Jeff!!
I installed an older 2 step to the older 6-AL with the rpm pills on my mustang but decided against using it after trying it while foot brake launching at the racetrack. Sure my engine isn’t tuned very well either. Like a bit to rich🤪
On my application I couldn’t go wot otherwise it would snuff out the engine or make it stupid lazy on the launch. I also couldn’t cut a light to save my life. Either I was a 0.1?? Or going red.
Granted it’s set pretty low 1800 rpm’s and the engine is on the rich side of things.
Positive note though it definitely flashes the converter when I just barely tickle the two step and helps elevate those front tires😁
very cool!! you will definitely have a great setup when done!

Hi great video thanks. Could you use the foot brake pedal as the switch for cutting the ignition off. So like when the automatic shifter is in drive hold the footbrake down to cut the ignition then when off the brake pedal the revs will return up to the set revs on the 6al box rev limit? Regards from UK 🇬🇧
You could do that. I chose the button on my shifter because I will be adding a trans brake. The one button will activate the two step and trans brake solenoid at the same time
@2HacksGarage ok thanks for your assistance I'll have a think of what way to go brake pedal or switch button. Super car by the way 👍
@@deniaelegance thank you 🏁
Hello sir! Lil Skunk here with the 75 Camaro from Instagram. Looking how to install a 2 step and found your channel. Nice work buddy, love the content
Hello my friend! love your Camaro! The two step is a breeze to install and definitely worth the time! Thank you!
Ya need to wire that to a switch on your brake pedal...
Nah, I have a transbrake on the way and upgrading other internals. Coming off one button for the transbrake and two step will be the way to go
@@2HacksGarage Quitter...lol!
@@jcnewbee8124 🤣🤣🤣
@@jcnewbee8124 in all seriousness, I’m going to redo the entire transmission. Including a transbrake, different planetary gear set that’s stronger and lower ratios, and a pretty much everything else is getting upgraded
