This is the best tutorial available. She is not only giving notations but also the finger position which is going to get you the right playing technique. I have learned closest to have a physical teacher who would teach you the right postition.

I always wanted to learn to play the piano, but never had the opportunity. My wife has a piano, so I wanted to surprise her by learning this song, which is one of her favorites. I tried a few different apps and a few different videos here on CZcams, but I am blind and most of the videos just show you how to play and don't give enough detail to follow if you cannot see what they are doing. Then I came across this video and she gives so much detail and add a nice slow pace that I was able to follow and learn the entire song even though I have never touched a piano in my life :-) her voice is also very nice and easy to listen to, which is very important when you have to listen to the same video about 5,000 times to memorize all of the notes. If I hadn't found this video when I did, I would have probably given up and never gone back to the piano. I am very thankful for the great videos that Marina has put out. And yes, I did surprise my wife by playing the song for her :-)

Great tutorial, really enjoying learning this. Just one small thing that’s bugging me - is it at all possible that there might be a small mistake around 14:51? In this particular piece (which I believe starts at around 14:35), you clearly seem to say that the right hand ‘A’ and the left hand ‘D’ should be played together, but then when you slow it down and do it again without speaking you clearly play them separately? (15:20 - Right Hand A followed by Left Hand D). It’s the first time you show us how to play both hands at the same time and tackle the tricky little part following the initial repetition. I could be wrong, but I’ve watched it over several times trying to work out if it’s just me not following properly, but it’s frustrating me a little - should it be together or should it be right hand A followed by left hand D? (The latter seems to be how you play it moving forward on the video, hence why I’m assuming that the A&D you play together at 14:51 is a mistake).
Apologies for being a pain! I appreciate this video is a few years old now and you’re likely fed up of talking about it! But I appreciate the help, I just want to get it right. I’ve come here from another tutorial on this from someone else that was driving me crazy and I love your calmness and how clearly you explain everything!

I was referring to the Bridge in the song. There is only one place in the song where Yiruma plays some soft two handed chords for a short while then goes back into the song. Not the version where he gets all fancy, LOL, just his basic version. LOL, I have no way to send you a sound bite, but I' sure someone else out there knows what I'm referring to. Yiruma tends to change up his pieces for each performance. You might be familiar with one of his performances in which he added an improvisation section. That's probably why you're not finding this section in the tutorials that are out there. As much as I'd like to help you, making a brand new tutorial to insert something like this really doesn't fit into my schedule. This tutorial is a bit slow for me, and it misses some details, but catches others that are missing in other tutorials and all in all it's a great tutorial. I do hope in the meantime the piano has been tuned though 🙂

You might want to do technique exercises on a regular basis to build up your dexterity. Check out my piano technique playlist.

That is an excellent question! The answer is, there really is no original version, as Yiruma himself performs his music differently at different times.

There are different versions in different keys. Not sure why nobody on CZcams is playing the version you have.

First of all I'd like to say I love your tutorials. It is a great fun to learn piano songs from you but I think you made a mistake and I'm a little confused.
See in part 2 left hand you press Fs Cs Fs / D A E D / A E Cs And here you even say "Go back to the A" (19:18) But you don't actually do that when you show hands together. Instead you go back to E and play it twice (24:38). Can you clarify it for me please which is the correct note there A or E so I can move on?
Hmm I replied earlier but I don't see that reply here. You can play either way, Yiruma performs this piece differently pretty much every time.

I totally get it! You need to work on your technique, otherwise you will still have this problem. Read about it here: thepianokeys.com/technique/
Any chance you can add the melodic cords that are about 3/4 of the way through the song it seems like everybody on CZcams teaching us either leave this out or plays it completely different. It’s the only place in the song that plays a couple of melodic chords that ties in the song.

Welcome to my club you are not alone chances are you are in your late 30s to late 40s in age so that means you were discouraged from using your left hand at kindergarten it will take time to learn to coordinate your left hand with your right hand I am still struggling but I won't give up so hang in there.

Sorry, I just now saw this comment. Many right-hand dominant people have trouble with the left hand. Think of how many times a day, your brain gives directions to your right hand and your right hand carries it out. Now think about how many times that happens with the left hand. So, it makes sense that the left hand would be slower in following directions. You just need to spend more time practicing the left hand. There's nothing wrong with you, and there are no shortcuts. :)
